I visited for a solo dinner on an early Friday evening. The dining room was not busy and I was immediately seated at a booth in the elevated center section. My server was friendly and welcoming. The chips and salsa followed me to the table. Always appreciated. I'm a salsa wimp so nearly all salsa is too spicy for me but I did try some. I asked for recommendations and the server told me what the most popular menu items were, but didn't offer any personal opinion. I ordered the chimichanga, which came with rice and a little guacamole salad in a small taco shell. It was fine, but not memorable. I would try something else on my next visit. So I was this way for an appointment but I was there early so I finished early so I ended up coming here just to stop in. I've seen this for years and never just thought to come in. It's in a small shopping area so there's free parking but just be aware the parking may not be the best. Because it shares it with a couple of other things. It's tall because it's two stories. So if you have a larger group setting, this would not be a bad option as well. It's very fun and very lively so you shouldn't have an issue with viewable views. The last time I went I went to the bar because I was just stopping in to grab something before I headed home. Food was pretty good though. I would actually get it again, well a couple of the things I did enjoy so details below for that. Chips and salsa - The chips and salsa were pretty good. Nothing major but I actually use the salsa a little bit on the tacos but the salsa was actually good and rich and had a little good of a flavor to it but it wasn't super spicy if you worried about that. Tacos de carnitas - I like the carnitas Taco, it wasn't as crispy and crunchy as I would like it to be but it had a good flavor to it. I guess I'm spoiled by real tacos pork belly taco LOL. But this was actually good too. Texas fajitas - The fajita was well put together, season really well, I have no complaints. I would actually get this over again. It came with all the accessories that you need, shells, rice, all the other things you would expect. Came out sizzling hot as a fajita. Should, lovely dish. Tacos al pastor - pastor was okay. I wouldn't rush to get it but it was tasty. Overall if you want some good and quick Tex-Mex type food, this is a really good spot. The bartenders are really cool and engaging so at least you'll have somebody to talk to if you go by yourself lol. But this is a really good option. read more

The one server she seemed nasty but powering through trying to be nice, I don't know. I'm told the Roswell rd location is better. I don't know, but I definitely do not recommend this. So many better options. Superica is that far from here they are better. I'd take real tacos or velvet tacos over this place. read more

So the last time I ate at this location it was called Uncle Julio's. I don't know if there was a change in ownership or just a name change. The decor and menu seem about the same. I visited on a Monday and they have a Monday fajita lunch special for $10 (chicken or shrimp) so I went with the shrimp fajitas. I was very pleased with my choice. It came with 8 nice large jumbo shrimp cooked and seasoned well with all the usual accompaniment. Service was quick and attentive. The place is family/kid friendly. I was impressed. I remember not liking Uncle Julio's much. I don't remember why except that it was noisy and crowded when i came before and on a Monday at lunch they were at about half capacity and the staff had time to wait in everyone. 5 stars and I don't do that in a first visit, ever, but I have been here before, just under a different name. This Azteca location gives you the great food that El azteca has served for years with the ambiance you haven't experienced at Azteca before. It's Peachtree location gives a similar vibe, but I prefer this location for a couple of reasons but one huge one is - PARKING IS GREAT! No one wants to fight Peachtree traffic when you can experience El Azteca without the hustle! Oh and ask for the super spicy home made salsa! So good. So creamy! Isabella was our bartender. Man they were good if I didn't just get off work and had drive I'd get another lol. Food came out fast ! So fresh hot and flavorful. My friend liked her enchiladas as well and ordered them to go for her fam. No dessert my fav thing is the world and I was disappointed! Now I love churros however my personal opinion I like either you should ask if you want it smothered in chocolate or if you want it on the side for dipping. Also I think ppl should tell you if it's filled with something. I do not like ALL fillings. This was filled with some type of brown filling perhaps dulce de leche ? I love Mexican food. And a big part of that experience is the chips and salsa and the options of vegetarian meals. The chips they bring to the table are TERRIBLE. Stale and dry. That already sets a tone. The restaurant is pretty dirty looking as the floors are sticky and so are the tables. The server was nice enough....but not enough to bring me back. They have very little vegetarian options....and those they do are basic, bland and over priced. I would not recommend this place. read more

We went there tonight. The food was fine, but when we got our bill, there was an automatic 18% tip. This was for 3 people. When I inquired at the front desk, they pointed to a small sign that says that any bill above $70 is automatically charged an 18% gratuity. Had they pointed this out clearly before I paid, I might have been more understanding, but it just seems that tipping is quickly going from something optional given for good service to a tax that is automatically added by the restaurant. Not sure how it has El Azteca's name but it not El Azteca's food! It is still Uncle Julio's food. Not bad if you liked Uncle Julio's but if you go here thinking you will get the El Azteca flavor you will be sadly disappointed like I was. The place wasn't busy, yet it took a long time between when our server got to us, gave us menus, then a long time before she came to ask for our orders. It would have been a different story if they were busy, but they were not busy and you could see the waiters talking. The manager seemed to be walking around but oddly refused to meet eye contact with our table. The food that we ordered was okay. Nothing crazy to write home about. The prices also seem overpriced. The only thing that's stopping this review from being a 0 Star review is....some were happy with some aspects of the dining experience. Oh and Yelp won't allow it. It started off well. We sat immediately, and the manager asked if we wanted to change channels on the TV. Waitress came right away and got our drink orders. Impressive! First, the margaritas were pretty good, according to my wife and son. I didn't have one, I chose to have a very less than ice-cold Dos Equis draft. Yes, a NOT cold beer!! And no, I don't sit and complain and send shit back and make the wait staff miserable. I deal with my experience and leave my Yelp review. Second, the food, depending who you asked, was awesome or just OK. I will speak for my Texas Fajita Quesadilla. Shrimp, steak, and chicken with peppers, onions, and cheese. Absolutely one of the best Fajita Quesadillas I have had, but.... cut into 3 triangles and only contained 2 shrimp? I had one entire serving with no shrimp?? I am pretty sure I paid extra for this Quesadilla to have all 3 meats. Sad. We tried their free salsa, it was bland. We didn't need any more brought to the table, and we ordered 2 Queso dips for the table. Bland as well. One Queso didn't even get touched. But others liked their tacos and enchiladas, and others left lots of food on their plates. Lastly, this is and always will be my biggest issue with every restaurant. Gratuity!! We are here with a group of 9. I understand, groups of 8 or more...blah, blah, blah. That's garbage. We are here with 6 adults and 3 kids (7, 5, and 1). They had no problem seating us. They didn't have to move tables, and 2 of the kids just shared off the adult plates. Absolutely no reason to count children in the headcount... my opinion. So how does the night end?? You already know. They can only do one check! They can not split it up! The inability to split checks is beyond their capabilities! One bill comes out, and of course, it includes 20% gratuity already included. Waitress says nothing, and after I present my card to pay, the bill for me to sign comes back with a line for "Tip". It doesn't say "Additional Tip" or "Additional Gratuity". It is misleading and it is an absolute scam! It is an attempt to get someone that's not paying attention to pay up to 40% !!
