My husband and I just recently moved here from Pennsylvania so we are really into trying new restaurants. We LOVED this place. It is kind of hidden off the road on 120 in Northglenn . Wow the refried beans and rice were even awesome. I had the enchiladas and My hubby had the Chili rillenos and loved them. Food was cooked fresh and very tasty. Their sauces are pretty darn spicy, and some of their regular customers have screaming children running around the restaurant. I presume that is why most people opt for take out. read more

Fair prices and good food. Not a fan of their carne asada, but honestly havent found a single place that has good carne asada since we moved here from Arizona. This place is a good go-to for inexpensive and quick breakfast burritos. Their salsa is my fav, but not a lot of people like the heat - I say "bring it on". Will be repeat patrons. read more

We really like this place! They have daily specials and the food is decently priced. This is some of the best Mexican food in the area, and I am extremely picky when it comes to authentic Mexican food. This reminded me of my mom's cooking! Four stars only because they don't give free chips & salsa, and all the plates/silverware are plastic. Regardless, this has become our go-to place for Mexican. Yum! read more

Local breakfast burritos we like to pick up 1-2 a month. Picked up 2 sausage burritos with green chili, no green chili and very little sausage, BLAND. Husband went with Carne Asada burrito, excessive cilantro and meat had odd taste. He ate half the burrito and immediately threw up all he had eaten. Spoke to Maria who apologized for what happened. Just wanted someone to know. Owner called to apologize and he will be going in to check on kitchen. Very kind and offered free meal, just not interested at returning at this time. read more

This place is legit! What it lacks in ambiance it more than makes up for it with solid Mexican food starting with the machca that reminds me of top Mexican places that are hidden gems in in So. Cal. I was hungry and craving something different for breakfast. I wanted something other than your typical run-of-the-mill breakfast joints. As I was driving down the street, I caught a glance of this restaurant. It was called El Azteca. From the outside, it looked different, it reminded me of something from the inner city where the food is authentic and delicious. Upon entering, I noticed that there were no decorations it was plain and it felt like a Prison cafeteria not that I've ever been to prison but I'm assuming this is what it would be like kind of sterile and blah. Obviously they didn't give much thought to decorating the restaurant. The menu is literally stuck to the wall as wallpaper. As I looked at the menu I noticed that this was just another run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Now at that point, I could have easily turned around and went and got a breakfast sandwich from somewhere else but I was there and decided to dive in head first. Everything on their menu from the ceiling to the floor, was your typical Mexican restaurant enchiladas, chile rellenos,burritos etc... As I was standing there falling into deeper and deeper disappointment my emotions were saved by their signature burrito called El Azteca. Pork Carnitas Pico de Gallo, guacamole wrapped in a flour tortilla smothered in green Chile. As I was reading what their signature burrito contained I began to salivate and felt my stomach growling even more, it sounded delicious. I ordered it. The price was very reasonable. The smothered burrito came with a side of beans and rice. I went to the prison style seating area and sat down and patiently waited for my delicious breakfast. Three minutes later, seriously 3 minutes my food came out of course I had them package it to go. I didn't want to sit there alone in the creepy eating area. I decided to stop at a local park and enjoy the warm sunny weather along with my delicious breakfast. At this point I was anxious it smelled good and I only imagined how good the burrito was going to be. I arrived at the park and exited my vehicle with the food in my hand and no doubt a big smile on my face only because I knew that I was going to enjoy some delicious food. As I sat down I opened the styrofoam box and immediately noticed the tortilla was mass produced it was waxy and chewy. The green chile was a light yellow in color and very watery. There were no pieces of pork and nothing in the green chile that let my taste buds know I was eating green chile. So I cut into it I am not exaggerating when I say there was at least one inch of tortilla wrapped around the contents of the burrito . I took the first bite, the first bite had some of the pork some of the pico de gallo and and to my surprise they forgot the guacamole. The green chile was obviously canned, it tasted sour and again nothing to indicate it was green chile. The rice on a scale of 1 to 10 was about of 4 it had nice color but that is it it didn't have any flavor the only thing I had and taste it was the beans I thought to myself, they can't mess beans up can they? Well... They did. Needless to say, out of 40 years of eating and dining at thousands of restaurants all over the world, this is proba bly in my top 5 worst restaurants the only thing appealing to me was the name. The Aztec culture the Aztec food is by far some of the best food I've ever had. The name of this restaurant is an insult and embarrassment to the Aztec culture. I would never eat here again and I would absolutely not recommend it. I know that this review is long but the truth had to be told for the people who gave this restaurant 5 stars I beg to differ.... The only positive thing I can say about this restaurant is, the anticipation helped bring back memories of delicious food I've eaten in the past. But the reality was a terrible experience. read more

Meh. I made the mistake of purchasing a restaurant.com cert, thinking hey, I can check out a new Mexican restaurant! Cleanliness? NO. Atmosphere? Definitely Not. Value for the money? Even with the gift cert, nope! The food was OK at best. And the restaurant.com gc meant they added on 18% gratuity for the employee to do precisely nothing in this unpleasant hole in the wall. My wife and I have lived close to this place for over ten years and have watched it change hands several times. Each time it does we go in and give it a try. The previous menu/owners were nothing special but had a few items that we would buy for take out once in a while when we were in a pinch and wanted something a step above Taco Bell. Under the new ownership/menu we will start just going to Taco Bell. The first time we ordered since the place turned over again my wife ordered the same thing we always had. Crispy chicken tacos, Soft chicken tacos and a Carne Asada burrito. When she picked up the food the gal at the front told her that in the future she should order sooner because they close at 8:00, its was 7:45 when she picked up? We opened the bag and realized all the Tacos were beef. She called and explained (it's still before 8:00) and was told that the whole menu had changed and she needed to pay more attention when she ordered because she was given exactly what she ordered. Really we've been ordering chicken tacos for years and suddenly mixed up the word chicken for beef? They did let her come back in and exchanged the BEEF tacos for chicken. RUDE RUDE RUDE through the whole experience. To top it off, the food from the "new menu" is sub par at best. I thought maybe these poor new owners were just having a bad night and we gave them a try one more time to try and give them a fair shake. I ordered a combination plate to try out the "new menu" and ordered the same chicken soft and crispy tacos as usual. When i went in to pick up the same gal was working at the front. Asked me if i was there to pick up and i said yes. I must have been the only order because she just started pushing buttons on the register then gave me a total. I asked her to read the order to me (like almost ALL restaurants do when you pick up) just to make sure we didn't have any mix ups. She gave me a weird look, cocked he head, and read my order and then just repeated the total owed. I tried to be polite and said "yep thats it". Her response was "YOU MEAN YOU GOT YOUR ORDER RIGHT ON THE PHONE!" Are you fucking kidding me???? She went and collected the bag of food from the back, dropped it on the counter, and turned and walked into the back without saying anything. Needless to say we are done with this place. I can put up with sub par canned food once in a while in a pinch. I can't do it when the staff are disrespectful and rude. It's all pretty shocking given the fact that there are several other places to get some pretty good Mexican food within just a couple minuets of this place in literally any direction. read more
