    Frida Kahlo art on wall
    Rika M.

After spending all morning and some portion of afternoon at the Wild Animal Sanctuary the past Saturday, we were hungry for a good food: a good Mexican meal to be specific. When I did a search on Yelp for the specific cuisine, this one came up amongst others. After viewing more than several photos posted by the past diners, Lupita's was just the type of place we'd want to go and dine. And we are glad we did!! Easy access from Highway 85, this restaurant is hard to miss due to the sign at the top of the building. Once inside, grandiose decorations at the entrance inside it welcomes you. This appears very promising to be an authentic place. As we were walking behind the receptionist who was taking us to our comfy booth, we noticed more art decorations from Frida Khalo to papel picado. This place is spacious and well-kept. It didn't look like a new restaurant. I utilized the ladies bathroom and it was clean as well. They have a massive menu. Almost every item has a picture with the description of the ingredients. Because of this, I didn't find the menu intimidatingly huge. I went with the Jalisco Enchiladas (my friend went with one of the burritos.) Both of our plates were massive in portions especially mine. We were able to eat only 1/3 of our meals. And let's not forget to mention the quality of them: both of our meals tasted authentic. We loved them. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Even this young male worker (could be the bartender) said a nice thank you/goodbye as we walked past the reception area after our meals. I don't hang out much in Brighton and yet if I drive through it next time and start craving for a good/authentic Mexican meal, I now know a place where I can get just that.

Authentic Mexican food. My daughter loves authentic posole which is hard to find. She said it had just the right spice. I had the Taquitos because I wanted something light but they were very filling! The bebida loca was a HUGE drink. It is made with fresh fruit juices and very good. Our waiter was prompt and made sure we had everything we needed. We will be back to try more menu items.

Green food coloring in sour cream masquerading as guacamole. Disgusting.

-Not a place we would come back to- The guacamole is green sour cream masquerading as guac (see picture). Disgusting. I'm glad we had my seven-year-old son because he didn't care and he ate it. The adults took one bite and decided "hard no." An average sized margarita is $12.50! Are you kidding me? You give me well tequila and charge me $12.50 for a house margarita on the rocks?? It wasn't even a large one! This will definitely make us never come back here ever again. I had to look at the menu to confirm the price just to make sure it wasn't a mistake. It's true, $12.50 for a house margarita. LMAO! Friday evening dinner time. Seated immediately. The restaurant was maybe half full. The food here is just average or slightly below average Mexican food for the Denver area. Most things are overly salted and the ingredients quality is maybe slightly below average (Sour cream with green food coloring sold as guacamole) YUK. They do however, put your food on a GIANT plate and spread it very thin so it looks like you're getting this huge meal. Lol. I think it's still the same portions you get most other places, not sure. The prices are, I guess in line with what is normal these days, except for the ridiculously over priced margaritas. I would describe the food as; Just about like any other slightly below average Mexican restaurant in Denver (of which there are thousands). Pros: Easy parking lot with plenty of spaces. Greeted and seated right away. Decent sized menu. Reasonably priced kids menu. Cons: -Sour cream with green food coloring sold as guacamole? YUK. -You can smell the bathrooms if you sit anywhere within a 20' proximity. Gross. -Did I mention that they have sour cream with green food coloring sold as guacamole? YUK Just another write off: Mexican food hell in food hell Denver, as usual. I know not to expect anything different when we are in Denver, but we keep on tryin. Lol. I'm beginning to think that the ingredient quality in the center of the United States is just not as good as it is in the coastal cities. Maybe the food all gets rotten by the time it gets to Colorado??? Just sayin...

A plastic bag clip that my wife was lucky to have found before she swallowed it.

I meant to Yelp this place a while back, because they had good food and decent service, a rarity in Brighton. Notice the past tense of that statement, HAD. Last time in, we were treated to (see attached photo) this unwelcome addition to my wife's shrimp tacos. Add in the fact that we ordered our items off the ala carte menu, yet were charged the full price for combo dinners, despite us telling the young lady THREE TIMES we wanted ala carte. When we brought the shard of plastic to the attention of our server, we received no attention from the manager, and rather than being offered a replacement plate of food or having the item deducted from our bill, we received a lame "senior's discount", about $3.50 off our bill, which was still too high and we had to wrangle that out about three times to get adjusted, and the final result was that I still got charged for a side of rice and beans that I didn't order, and said side was $4.-FREAKING-50. $4.50 for RICE and BEANS????? Time was, that's how much the entire entrée would have cost. So no more Lupita's for us. Once again, a Brighton restaurant blows it badly on customer service. Rather than take care of us and ensuring our continued patronage, this place chose to blow us off and try to get away with giving us substandard food and overcharging for it, to boot.

Absolutely a great value for huge potions and a delicious taste! Start with fresh chips, bean dip and tangy salsa. The menu indicates 2 baskets are included. La Playa, salad presentation with chicken is big enough for 2. Pecans, avocado and orange slices are like eating the rainbow. The Mexican hamburger inside a flour tortilla, smothered in green chili served with beans and rice is a tasty option. Carne asada is a delightful palate pleaser. Combo 2 included a burrito, chile relleno smothered with green chile and served with beans and rice! With so many choices for Mexican food in the Brighton area, Lupita's is a must try!

When looking at the menu, the prices were outrageous, but thought the food must be really good! The restaurant doors were locked when we arrived around 11:30, even though their website said they opened at 10:00. I like to support local restaurants but this one was horribly disappointing! We were the only customers in the restaurant and service was extremely slow. There was only one employee we saw, the one who unlocked the door for us and turned out to be our waitress. She was polite, but very slow in getting our drink order, food order, and ticket. I could have understood understaffing, but as mentioned, we were the only customers in the place. When our food came, I was almost embarrassed for our waitress. The food hardly filled our plates. I ordered a chicken dish where the chicken breast had been split in half. It was tough and hard to cut and and chew. It was maybe the size of a small burger, very small and about 1/4 of an inch thick! According to the menu description, it was supposed to be marinated. It tasted like the "marinade" was ketchup mixed with a little Tabasco. Other plates were very skimpy on food. Burritos and enchiladas were small and almost almost laid flat on the plates. I guess I could deal with it better if the cost was about ¼ of the price we paid. No drinks for 4 totaled, with tip, around $80.00!! Will never go to this place again! I typically don't do reviews but this experience was completely "over the top" bad in all areas. We all left feeling cheated, and hungry! Don't waste your money here!

The large seating area is clean, and the ordering area is modern, with large menu screens. The food is formatted so that you select your protein variation and then a presentation, which could be a quesadilla, nachos, taco, sandwich, or bowl. If you really want more, you can select a side dish. We decided to try pork nachos and a birria quesadilla. The service was top-notch, and the staff was super friendly. Unfortunately, it was a big letdown. $15 nachos had very little pork but lots of convenience store nacho cheese sauce, which was not at all what I expected. They also were missing a mess of normal nacho toppings, and those that were on it were scarce. More than half the chips were dry. The quesadilla was unremarkable. The cheese used was not high quality, and it seemed average at best. Overall, I am disappointed as I would have loved to have found another option in Brighton. With the fun atmosphere and lots of TV, it would have been a good place to grab a bite, a beer, and watch the game or meet with friends. Hopefully, they get it dialed in or lower their prices to reflect the actual product.

That being said this being food truck, I still had to pay with a leg and half an arm for simple food to go, $17 an item. Simple service and not much else besides a snack. Food choices were chicken, pork or veggie. Bowl, tacos or quesadilla. We opted for a chicken bowl and pork tacos. Chicken bowl was small, basic, and topped with geen Chile's not really a a green chile. Food had an interesting citrus profile topped with cabbage, not a slaw. The pork tacos were a better of the two, being full of flavor and moist but drenching the single corn tortilla it was served in. By the end of the first taco, the other two were falling apart. Tacos were topped with cabbage again but all together, a very small portion filling for the tortilla being used. Overall food was edible. Not a coleslaw like labeled. Green chile was in fact just diced up green chile almost canned like. Small portions for the amount of paid. Would eat if I was hungry enough.
