It might be less busy now as the construction worker foodies that made up most of their clients have dropped off now. However, coming to their brick and mortar location is more convenient for me as I enjoy having my lunch in an AC environment opposed to outside in the Texas heat. The menu is also expanded which I do like. I went with the Pork Frintanga plate. Pork is very tasty and chewy which is a nice touch to me. Add in the sweet plantain and fried cheese and this dish was definitely a winner. Big change up from the food truck meals of mainly papoose, which are a great food truck item. Service is a bit quiet, due to the language barrier, and their lack of speaking English probably hurts the business for non Spanish customers. Every once in a blue moon, co workers get it right. This was such a treat. I'm a huge fan of Central American food. I had the carne asada Salvadorena, and a jalapeno con queso/pollo con queso pupusas. I truly believe that Central American and Non Mexican(ie cuban) restaurants seem to take pride in the asada they serve. It's always perfectly seasoned and cooked. It's usually some form of flank/skirt steak. I can't count how many tex mex places I've been that serve you either the wrong cut of meat, over cooked meat , or an under seasoned mess. This one was spectacular. I would come again just for that. It came with some of the best white rice I've had in a while. I'm bringing my rice freak midget to try it next time. I know he would approve. The only gripes I have are trivial. It's just a personal preference for me, I've just never been a big fan of refried beans. They were not very good to boot either. I got excited when they said they had home made corn tortillas. Hear me out, they were great, but they were waaaaayyy too thick. I could've made 4/5 tortillas from those two. When they are that thick, they feel more like a Gordita. Too much masa was a bad thing in this instance. The pupusas were good. Well the jalapeño and cheese one was outstanding. The chicken one was just a hot mess. I was conflicted on that one. One bite I liked it, the next I was confused. I thought it had too much going on. I thought this was a Cuban restaurant however there was no Cuban food on the menu. It was South American. They were out of tamales. Settled on pupusas and a combo plate. It was ok. Everything kind of tasted the same and much of the combo plate was fried. Even the chicken jalapeño pupusa was pretty bland. Not bad just underwhelming. I finally found a place that has the best pupusas!! I've been looking for a place like this for a whole year. It's a lil food truck located next to a car shop. It has a lil blue tarp that you can't miss. Parking is sort of limited but I think it's ok to park at the car shop since that's where I parked and I wasn't told anything. The staff are really nice and the lady makes everything fresh. My mouth is watering just thinking about it and I had 5 pupusas from there less than 15 mins ago. My wife ordered 1 chicharron (pork rinds) and 1 Loroco (green vegetable/flower). I ordered 2 frijol y queso (Bean and Cheese) and 1 queso. After eating we realized they were soooo good we ordered 3 of the loroco and 1 of the chicharron. The loroco was by far my favorite and my life loved the chicharron. Now that doesn't mean the frijol and queso ones weren't good we just really enjoyed the other ones more. All the salsas and the cabbage you put on top are just amazing and filled with flavor. This place recently opened near our neighborhood so we decided to try it. We were intrigued by the variety of dishes from Latin America, they have menu options from Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras. The place is small but it is decorated very traditionally. One thing I would say is that after ordering it took forever to get our food! The staff seemed aware of this so they were very attentive while we waited, but once we did get the food we realized one of the dishes was missing. I ordered two pupusas revueltas, which should have equal parts beans, chicharrón and cheese, but as you can see from the picture, these were loaded with a sloppy cheese mess w barely a hint of something brown, I'm assuming was the "chicharrón". The price per pupusa is $3.75, which is INSANE. I also ordered a side of plátanos maduros w crema. The plátanos were cold and not ripe-/they were hard. I also had a cebada drink, and that tastes fine, it comes in a powder, so it's hard to mess that up, but a 32oz drink was $6. Including tax and tip, this meal was $20. That's bananas. I picked up 3 tacos to go last week, 1 chorizo & egg, 1 carne guusada and 1 potato & egg. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the tacos were the size of an egg roll. The carne guisada taco had 3 pieces of meat...1 of those pieces being fat and nerve. I took one bite of the chorizo & egg taco and threw it away.
