We arrived at 11:20am and asked the lady at the front desk if we could sit down for the brunch buffet. She told us that the buffet was closed but that we could sit down for lunch. All the buffet food was clearly still out and I had never heard of a brunch buffet ending before 12pm, so this was very disappointing. We decided to stay for lunch because we had a flight to catch very soon and did not have time to continue searching for a brunch place. We ordered a couple of classic Mexican dishes which were very mediocre, not what is to be expected from the Ritz in Cancun. Even though there was only one other table in the entire restaurant, our server was largely absent. We could never find him, and he would take a very long time to come back to our table. Finally we found him and told him that we had to leave. The check out process took an extra 30+ minutes. Two of our cards got "declined". After using a third card, the server admitted that it was their system and not our cards. Checking out for that long at the Ritz is unheard of, especially when the restaurant is empty. We almost missed our flight because of how long everything took, including the lunch itself because of the absence of our server. Overall disappointed, it was not a great experience. read more
