I'll give it a solid 4 star review. Here are the pros and cons that affect my review of this place: (Not their fault): they are located in a busy and tiny plaza so parking is always a struggle. That could be why the restaurant is so empty. Not sure. Prices: unusually high, given the location (Sylmar) and that it's located inside a plaza. I feel like the prices are way too high considering it's not a high end Mexican restaurant. For example, Their plates start at $15-$20. This would be a very expensive place to have lunch or dinner. The high price point was the determining factor for me in terms of not coming back. I truly wish them the best, especially in this economy and for restaurants, but if they want more business, they should consider dropping their prices a bit. I know everything is expensive now, for everyone :-/ I came here bc I was hungry and it was nearby. Their chips and salsa is pretty good, and their customer service was great too. Heard about this place and came in to make an order, but they had absolutely no understanding of any possible form of English and it was extremely difficult asking anything about anything they just stood their smiling every time. I asked any question. I got sick with their food, I eat one time a month ago and it was good but last week I ordered Camarones a la plancha and when they served it they look weird and sticky but I started eating it , and it tasted different but i was do hungry and kept eating it. 15 minutes later after I eat it went yo my office and tun straight to the toilet . The hidden burrito spot of the valley. Whenever I'm looking for a nice authentic burrito like visit El Camaronero 2. The staff are always so friendly it's almost like ordering from family. The Carne Asada burrito should be featured on diners drive ins and dives. It's the best burrito I've ever consumed. They layer the rice beans and meat in perfect harmony in the sauce they give you it's just amazing if you like habanero try that but they have a milder sauce that works just as well. I want to say the secret to the burrito is in the way they cook the meat but some secrets are best left untold. If you're in the valley and you want a burrito please stop by and I'm sure you'll be back for more. read more

If I could put a 0 star I would. I came in with my girlfriend and my waiter was extremely drunk. We ordered our food because hey we didn't care but i definitely should've cared. It took over 50 minutes for 2 items and 55 minutes for guacamole. It wasn't busy and I'm not one to complain about time but when my drunk waiter can't remember to put in my order or even bring me back salsa it just gets ridiculous. We had people come in I swear 20 minutes after us and our drunk waiter gives us their food thinking it was ours. Then finally a sober waiter realized that our order was never even put in. No sympathy or communication was given we only knew because my girlfriend heard them speaking in the distance in Spanish. I will 10000% be calling to speak to a manager tomorrow. Giving 3 starts because some things can be better. Overall they're better than Los Ruizenores and LA Chueleta. The oysters when they have them are pretty good. Their aguachili is good though I usually take mine home and add fresh squeezed lemon juice, not the stuff in a bottle. The salsa isn't the best, the burrito can be greasy. I'm not a fan of canned or any veggies in my rice so that's a miss for me. They do not pay much attention to you when you dine in. Have a few beers, they don't bother to ask if you need more drinks. Wow. That's not something we really say whenever we Postmates food to the house. But WOW! One word to describe this restaurant. GENEROUS. The amount of meat and condiments they put in their meals is something worth mentioning. Specially considering the tough times we are all facing right now. Yes, it was mega greasy, but it's expected considering the type of food we ordered. If I could give Restaurant zero stars I would gladly. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with and literally tried to steal $50 from me. Bought lunch for the guys working on my house placed the order online like the restaurant asked me to and when I get there they claim that they never received the order even though there's a transaction on my bank account and a receipt. They then tried to tell that my bank That if never happened. I don't think it's a coincidence that after using my card here there were multiple unrecognized charges. Fuck this restaurant. I must say the pescado zarandeado is very tasty! You have to order it and give it about 30 minutes to cook. They serve it on a aluminum wrapped cardboard if you order it to go. They accompany it with rice, beans, and a salad. Lemons, salt, salsa(habanera) also pair very well. I order this for my boyfriend and I all the time. Also, the aguachile verdes are good and you can order them as spicy as you want. read more

Very nice customer service and you get handmade tortillas, but i really don't understand how there's 4 star ratings. The food was bland -- we had birria, menudo, and tostada mixta. The tostada was just mixed seafood with nothing added. I'd never had anything like that. The only thing my partner enjoyed was the consomé and rice, lol. This place is a small hole in the wall joint located next to subway. The ladies working the night I went were really nice. All smiles and two thumbs up. They had some mean ass birria tacos on hand made tortilla. Cannot rave enough. My husband doesn't even eat goat and he actually liked it! The carne asada, pastor, shrimp tacos were pretty darn good, too. Unfortunately, they didn't have any fish for fish tacos so we didn't get to try that. I'm not sure when they open but closes at 10pm. i'm prolly not that qualified to review this place, since it's a birrieria and i don't eat birria. to be honest, i didn't even know what that word meant until i looked it up on google. haha. but i have tried the enchiladas and the chilaquiles, and they were both delicious! they use handmade tortillas in all their dishes (and for the chips and salsa), and you can really taste the difference. chilaquiles is pretty much my favorite breakfast food (so i've had it from a bunch of different places) and the ones i got from here were especially good. plus you can order breakfast items at any time of day! who doesn't love having breakfast for dinner? =) the menu is extensive and full of standard items (tacos, burritos, quesadillas) as well as less common items (birria, barbacoa, ceviches, soups). everything is reasonably priced and the two things i have tried so far were both delicious. the portions were large and i had enough for leftovers. the inside wasn't particularly nice (very "hole in the wall" vibe), but it was clean. the lady behind the counter didn't speak any english, but she was friendly. and i was able to convey my order w/ my terrible spanglish (even if you don't know any spanish, you can probably just point to what you want on the menu and get by). the food was made to order and came out very quickly. and they accept all major credit cards (which is nice, since a lot of hole in the wall places only take cash). great experience, all in all. you should definitely check them out if you're in the area! =) read more

I want you to know the food was okay, but the experience wasn't the best. I used to come to this spot when it was a pizza place, note the receipt has the name of the old place. I was pretty excited to try the place out. So the menu has a million different choices which includes Birrieria or lamb which I'm not a fan of so i got a asda burrito "wet" style. So why two stars, so when the guy finally charged me when he handed me my food he charged me a different price than was on the menu board above my head. Then he pointed to hand written sign in Spanish which was partially covered the receipts coming out of the cash register that the prices were now different. WTF?! If you don't read spanish or read the sign your gonna get mad at pay time. I might give them another chance, someday, like I said the burrito was okay. There is plenty of seating. read more

The moment I entered the restaurant I got friendly greetings and a big smile (-:! I love how small the restaurant is, we waited for about 10 minutes but the wait was worth it! I got the lamb barbeque, shrimp quesadilla, shrimp burrito, & milanesa torta (didn't get the chance to try it since we got full from every other food items we bought). I tried the lamb 1st, took one bite and I enjoyed it right away!.. It was cooked all the way, juicy, and the flavor pops soo good.. The tortilla chips were crunchy and the salsa was flavorful and just right, not overwhelming at all. The shrimp quesadilla had a blast of delicious flavors, and was cooked very well! I loved the red rice and beans that came together with the quesadilla. The red rice reminded me of the 1st time I had red rice and fell in love with it.. I took a bite of the shrimp burrito and it was yummy, but I liked the shrimp quesadilla a lot better because it had a blast of flavor from just one bite! Overall I had a great experience and will be coming back! I will recommend this place to everyone near the sylmar area! read more

Well, the last time I was here may have been a fluke. Tried a huarache de carnitas today. It was not good. Undercooked carnitas, not beautifully seasoned like the previous time! I am so disappointed! The salsas are still great, and the price is still good. But today the flavor was a huge disappointment. :( the menudo was pretty good, definitely not the best. I'm so sad this was a bust today.
