Food is not all that is ok service is could be better lady has little bit of attitude

I 100% love this place. It's the only place I can go to and have food that taste very closely like my mom's cooking. My mom passed away January 2021. When I'm missing her I automatically crave Nayarit. Love the ladies and staff their. I wish I could give them 100 stars. They are great and friendly. The place is always clean and well kept. I called to order some caldo de res And one the ladies told me to hold she would ask if they had some (weird but I get it hot soups go by fast) when she got back on the line she told me I can't make this up she said it's cold it's from yesterday do you want me to warm it up for you. In disbelief it took me a sec to realize what she said I declined and said no thank you. Never ate or called back again. So many other restaurants in San Fernando valley I wouldn't go back to that place. My guess they are hanging on by a thread the one on maclay the OG is a better place to go. read more

This is one of my grandparents old stopping ground. So of course we love to keep up with our Family traditions and go for lunch or dinner. Well if you don't speak or understand espanol good luck ordering thank god for my broken up Spanish that I know. The ladies that work here are sweet, very Abulita type. Now down to the food. I ordered the chili relleno plate. The chili relleno itself was delicious!! The rice was whatever beans were bomb. Unfortunately their was a small piece of hair that was in my rice ( go figure) uhhhh one of the things that can ruin your meal so quick is finding a hair or a bug! Food & service has always been great! Food is very authentic. My go to dish is the chilaquiles, enchiladas, gorditas and chile verde.

Went to Nayarit on Maclay, the waitress is so sweet when I try to speak to her in Spanish. Beans and gorditas are fantastic.

I really wanted to like this place because 1. It's right across the street from my house and 2. Because it's Mexican food. I've been there 3 times and each time has been bad tried it 3 times because like I said I wanted to like it but the food was nasty there customer service was okay each time I've went. Once I walked in and there was a family seated still looking at menus and I just went in for two burritos and told the lady then two men come in and take a seat and order right away too then the family there place there order and they made everyone's food first before the burritos that took 5 mins! I spent half an hour waiting on them and the only reason I waited because I was next door doing laundry. Cash only! So, I've been coming to this place since I was a kid and when I went back recently I was worried it wasn't going to live up to my memories, and boy was I wrong. I had pozole, and it tasted like home. Like when your grandma was up since the butt crack of dawn slowly cooking it with all that love and warmth. It was so good. The food is excellent. Feels like you're eating at your abuelitas house in Mexico. I really like the costillas en salsa roja, the menudo and the pozole. The tortillas are handmade and super fresh. Not too thick either. Bomb! The coffee is decent too. De la hoya with canela. Its small, the tables kindda wobble, pero who cares! Tastes just like home! Pero here's the thing: The service sucks. Sure they'll take your order, but dont expect some napkins or extra limones. Make sure to check the prices before you order since they always do the math in their heads and sometimes over charge. One time I paid 30 bucks for a menudo and a pozole. I thought "shit, this place is expensive!" Turns out they just charged me quien sabe que. So make note of the prices eh! I give it 4 stars not because their food is mediocre, its amazing i tell ya! But im a sucker for customer service and well, they aint got none. Oye, here's 30 bucks for some pozole and menudo, can I please have some agua @ least? Eat there but dont order carne asada (insert your fav mexican dish here ie tacos, quesadillas,nachos, burritos)! Love this place. It's a cash only, Abuelita's cooking, hole in the wall, and I love it! Foods pretty good, hand made tortillas, and kind service. We ate her all the time before we had a kitchen and go back every so often when we're in need of a quick Mexican food kick. Try the costillas or their carne asada. Those are my personal faves! Lost of people come for the menudo (or pozole...I can never get them straight) and the sopes I've seen look pretty good too! read more
