    Chicken with mole
    Alejandra G.

Ok first time here. This place is big inside. Mexican music is loud but ok. The mangonada margarita on the rocks wasn't good, tasted funny. The waitress said she used 2 types of tequila. Sorry but hurricane harbor mangonada margarita is way better! Per our waitress they have entertainment on the weekends. You need to follow them on Instagram to find out. Chicken with mole over rice was good, had a spicy taste to it. Chile relleno with rice and beans, the batter was thin (I like), easy on the sauce. Saw our waitress leave and she didn't say anything. Another employee came in but she hasn't came to our table to see if we needed anything. Still waiting. Plenty of parking

Sister Sister sushi was just ok

Decided to try this place for the first time, but unfortunately, I wasn't impressed. We went on a Friday evening and were the only table there, so I expected the service to be quick and attentive but that wasn't the case. I ordered a mezcalita, and it didn't even come filled to the top. For a $17+ drink, I would expect better. It also tasted more like lemonade than anything else. I couldn't taste the alcohol at all and didn't feel anything from it. The sushi menu was also a bit frustrating since it only listed names without any descriptions. When we asked our server, she tried to explain but didn't seem very confident, which made it harder to decide. We ended up ordering the Sister Sister roll, which was just okay. For entrees, my friend had the enchiladas verdes and I ordered the fajitas. Both were decent, but nothing stood out or made a lasting impression. Overall, nothing wowed me enough to come back.

Encanto Mestizo is a new place in Sylmar with some great menu offerings. Inside looked like a mix between a late night lounge and daytime sports bar. Lots of TVs for when a game is on and dark low lighting for a more relaxed dinner. The branzino plate was very good and seasoned nicely. The chili relleno was good too. Served with arugula on top and a mild sauce. I prefer a little more heat on my sauce but it was delicious. We also split a Caesar salad which was a good size. They were still pending their liquor license but it looked like they have a bar built out when that happens. Service was ok. Our waitress was friendly and nice but our appetizer did not come out and our main entree was served first. Then she asked if we wanted it but we canceled it since it was the appetizer. They could offer more beverages selections too in my opinion. I think they are off to a good start and after some improvements this could be a great local spot.

    Look how loaded this is!

I've been on a quest to find good mole. I've tried almost every Mexican restaurant in the San Fernando Valley and everyone was mediocre at best. Then I found Encanto Mestizo. This place knows what they are doing! I ordered their chicken mole enchiladas and I'm now obsessed. They do something most places don't, the chicken inside the enchiladas is seasoned! No plain, unseasoned chicken meat. Then they smother them in their rich, thick, delicious mole sauce. I mean the flavor of the sauce is incredible. There's a tiny kick to the sauce, not too spicy, just enough to make them perfect. Oh, and there's tons of chicken in each enchilada. Very generous portion. I'm so happy to have found this gem, I can't wait to try other dishes. For now, I'm thrilled with their chicken mole enchiladas. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. Oh and the customer service is amazing. Jessica is the best!

Chile relleno with rice and beans

Came for dinner, first time. We couldn't tell if it was sushi or Mexican food, and then we realized it was both. It was a little confusing. I ordered a chile relleno plate, which is kind of my go-to. My husband ordered the Caldo de Rez. After a few minutes our server returned and said they didn't have any beef soup, so he changed his order to birria ramen. It took forever for our food to arrive, maybe 20 minutes. The soup looked really good and my husband was happy with the flavor. My chile relleno plate look super fancy, although there was watercress on top of the rice, which was weird. One bite of the chile relleno and I had to spit it out. It tasted like industrial chemicals, mixed with a metallic taste. It tasted toxic. I asked for something different and they offered me cheese enchiladas instead. It took about 20 minutes to get my corrected order. The enchiladas were ok, but the enchilada sauce didn't taste like regular enchilada sauce, more like a tomato sauce, but it was pleasant. The rice and beans were nice, although the rice was garnished with watercress which was different. After we finished eating we asked for our check which took another 15 minutes to receive. It was not a pleasant dining experience. I don't recommend eating there.

Today I visited this restaurant, and on Mondays they offer 50% off everything. It was definitely worth it. The décor was really nice, the service was great, and the food was excellent. I would absolutely go back again. It's a little hidden gem, and I wish Sylmar had more places like this. My suggestion would be to incorporate a salsa afternoon on a Sunday and add Caribbean-inspired sushi to the menu. If you need help, I can help you! I am of Puerto Rican decent and a great cook.

Parking was easy to find, which was a plus. The ambiance was casual, relaxed, and family-friendly. They have multiple TVs throughout the restaurant, and during my visit, they were showing a soccer game. I always like it when a restaurant broadcasts sporting events, even if it means the place sometimes gets very packed. I was really looking forward to trying their shrimp ceviche, but to my disappointment, they had run out by the time I arrived. I decided to go with my backup option instead: the camarones a la diabla. Camarones a la diabla is a dish consisting of shrimp cooked in a spicy red chile sauce. This restaurant also serves it with rice, toast, and a side of vegetables. As the name suggests, the shrimp are supposed to be spicy. As a spice enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for the best spicy dishes. The shrimp were cooked well, but they had a sweet taste. It almost seemed as if they had used ketchup in the sauce to tone down the heat. I'm honestly not a fan of mixing sweet with spicy, at least when it comes to protein. The vegetables that came with the dish were soggy and flavorless. The rice was okay but could have been better. The toast was pretty good, it was buttery, garlicky, and crispy. Overall, this dish wasn't bad, but it also wasn't the best. The service during my visit was good. My server was attentive and helpful. He frequently stopped by to check if everything was okay. Overall, this experience didn't turn out exactly as I had expected, but it wasn't a bad experience by any means. I might return one day to try their shrimp ceviche. The carnitas by themself are decently cooked. The taco is served in a handmade tortilla that is super thick and dense. Im a fan of these style tortillas being a little more softer than this was. The taste of the masa is on point and great. The salsa that they equip in the taco is hot. Like almost habanero hot. Its almost unpleasant / inedible. The chicharron is just the skin and its smashed up into the salsa and pico de gallo that come with the tacos. Not much going on here and nothing great. Pork tamale was average. The size is on the smaller side or almost average. Carne to masa ratio is good. Masa taste is great. The meat and sauce is umami and deep but still your average flavors for red pork tamales.
