(On top of it, they refilled ours. ) guacamole is plentiful, and decorated nicely with garnish of radish. However, as others have said, it is bland. Not bad, but I have had much better. I had El Camino draft beer. Light, enjoyable. Portion sizes are big. Only one in our party got the entree, and half of that was for to go. Rest of us had couple of appetizer and they were sufficient for us. Chilli Relleno was delicious. What I liked was their attention to detail. We asked for quesadillas with jalapeños. I ordered a 17 oz ( el grande) El Camino Margarita, received an 8 oz. When I mentioned how the drink didn't look like a 17 oz they said the shape of glass is deceiving. I pour the water from my 8 oz glass into the margarita glass and it filled it. When they bought out the check I noticed they charged me for the 17 oz margarita. I mentioned it to them again how that was not 17oz and I don't believe I should be charged for a 17oz and showed how the water filled the glass. The waiter got a manager who came out to give me a lesson on volume I explained the volume does change when going from one glass to the other it's not just the look of the glass and it's false advertisement and misrepresentation to say I'm purchasing 17 oz when in actuality I'm only receiving 8 oz the volume of the liquid doesn't change based in the glass. We came in on a cold winter night around 5:45 and we were seated right away. Our food came out really fast, maybe 5 min after we ordered. The kids got chicken fingers and Mac and cheese. One 5 star review on the chicken and a 0 for the Mac n cheese from my 6 year old... however I would rate it a 5. The cheese was amazing, different than the normal Mac and cheese flavor. So for a kid, maybe too fancy, but delicious for an adult. My husband ordered the chicken burrito smothered which he said was really good and filling. The el Camino fries were a nice addition with fries, fried onion and jalapeños. The free chips and salsa are always a hit for us. The salsa is smooth and full of flavor with a little kick. My chicken tacos with cilantro, cheese and lettuce had a great flavor. I opted for the red chimichurri sauce on the side which was kind of sweet. Our margaritas were on point. Went in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We always ride by it and always wondered what the food was like so yesterday we decided to give it a try. It was around two in the afternoon when we arrived. It was not that busy. There were only about two or three other tables in use. The ambience and decor of the restaurant make it feel very casual yet also upscale. All the colors are nice yellows and blues reds. Very nice. The waitress will give you water and she was also very nice and down to earth. I applaud her service. We ordered two drinks, the watermelon, margarita and lychee sour. The margarita was good, but the lychee sour was very strong. We had to get pineapple juice to make a little bit better. We ordered the cornbread and the grilled wings for appetizers. The cornbread is unfortunately salted and some type of syrup so the texture gives me more of a bread pudding consistency, which the other person in my party didn't really like so if you were going to order that then please be advised also the price for what you receive is a little bit on the expensive side for some reason I was under the impression that it would be like a skillet cornbread because of the price, but it was only two slices. We asked that the wings be grilled hard be well done and they weren't really and they were still some softness to the wings and they were a little bit too juicy inside inside where it feels like you know how chicken when you cook chicken and it's like just done and then you take it off like right one it's just done like it needs. I need it to have a little extra extra time to get rid of that juicy pie. Personally I like my chicken wings like like juicy, but you know not that juicy where it verge is on slime so but I did cook them today in the air fryer and they taste way better now but the sauce was a little bit too tomato. Like the sauce on the wings taste more like Indian than any Mexican sauce. I've tasted like this tastes. This taste like the tiki masala from the restaurant down the road that does. Not sure what makes it Fajita but it looks like a regular Mixed greens salad with 3 small chicken strips and a dash of crispy tortilla strips on top. The adobo dressing probably made it taste worse. I'm giving El Camino a 4 because of the El Camino margaritas, service, and patio. This is my favorite local place for margaritas. I deviated and tried the sangria and it wasn't in my opinion what sangria should taste like. We always order the queso con carne which is 9/10 times good, but may or may not be cold. The food here is very hit or miss. We went for an early dinner on Friday and everything was great. Shrimp tacos are typically good. If you live in the area and the weather is nice. El Camino is located in an up and coming area of North Wilmington. This was my second time visiting. I went to visit on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not crowded. Our table of 5 was seated right away and immediately ordered our drinks. I ordered the watermelon basil margarita which was great! We skipped appetizers and all ordered tacos for our dinner. The food took a very long time to come out, at least 30 minutes. I was really surprised at their service as there were at least 4 people working in the kitchen. I was under the impression that the happy hour specials would be applied at our table but I was disappointed to find out they were for the bar seating only. The waiter was friendly and prompt. Cute Mexican place, delicious food! We have been to the brunch several times and it was fantastic! Tonight was my second time for dinner, and because the weather was beautiful, we sat outside. Weather was perfect, and the outdoor tables were cozy and inviting, they face another restaurant (Taverna) and not Silverside road so there is no road noise to distract from the dining experience. Waiter was very friendly and attentive. I tried the shrimp tacos and my friend got the Al pastor tacos- we loved them both. El Camino is a newer spot underneath the newest apartment complex in Wilmington DE. It's a cute spot, modern interior and the staff wear T-shirt's with fun sayings relates to tacos and tequila. They have large booths and table seating. A full tequila bar and del ooo us cocktails. We had the pineapple mojito and the watermelon margarita. Sold in small-large sizes, both super delicious. The chips are house made and the queso is good. We got the enchiladas and the table enjoyed it. Both the steak and chicken fajitas were underwhelming and overcooked. Not worth the price. We'd avoided El Camino in its early days based on prior Yelp reviews, but decided to check it out for a weeknight dinner after seeing that they had tweaked their menu a bit. We were quickly seated in a relatively empty restaurant and greeted by our waitress who offered us drinks, advertising that they have a lot of (and I quote) "fresh-squeezed crap" on their drink menu. (I know --- slip-ups happen to us all, but probably not the best sales pitch!) I wound up with their basic margarita, which definitely did taste fresh-squeezed and was pretty good. BF got their Up in Smoke mezcal cocktail, which was much better and came with a spicy chili-salt rim. We also enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa, both of which tasted homemade. Salsa refills were brought quickly and without prompting. Food options were definitely Americanized Mexican, and I chose the 2 shrimp tacos ($12) with guacamole and cabbage slaw. I really enjoyed the tacos, though I didn't bother with the plain rice and beans they were served with (literally, no seasoning to the black beans that I could taste). BF ordered the vegetable burrito and seemed content, though wasn't raving. The burrito came with french fries, which seemed unnecessary --- but they were actually yummy. Everything was delicious. I started my lunch with a jalapeno cucumber margarita which was SOOOO GOOOD. I was a little disappointed when the bartender put it on the table it was spilling over and when it got placed on the table there was some that had spilled onto the the table and pooled under the glass and he told the server we needed napkins and she then just tossed some on the table. I would have hoped that since the drink was spilling on the way over and as he put it on the table, he would have cleaned some of it up. But the drink was extremely tasty. Chips and salsa were brought to the table and the salsa was very good. Also they refilled it without any issue or no extra charge. For lunch I ordered 2 crispy shrimp tacos and they were 100%. I really enjoyed it. When the server put the dish down one of the shrimp fell off the taco and right onto the table and she just said "whoops, you lost a shrimp" and walked away. The star of the meal for me was the cornbread side with jalapeno butter. You order it extra from the sides menu. It was soooo moist and the edges were crispy but the inside was like a sweet cornbread pudding. It was amazing. I really enjoyed the food. I'm just not sold. The drinks are tasty, but I don't find the food anymore authentic then some of the chain restaurants at half the price. They just have a nicer visual presentation. I've dined outside during the summer. Part of my dining companion's food was missing, we didn't have utensils initially and the server seemed to not know the offerings (I believe he said he was a bartender). We thought one order was an entree, it looked more like an appetizer and I shared by food. I also did pick-up recently due to convenience, still just ok. I came here with a friend for dinner on a whim. I ordered the El Camino Margarita. It was delicious. Fruity and sweet without being overwhelming. I typically don't like margaritas due to too much sour mix. I really enjoyed my drink. We ordered the loaded guacamole for an appetizer. It was very fresh and flavorful. It had onions, jalapeños, beans, corn... it was great. We both got three tacos... al pastor, shrimp, and fish. The tacos had good flavor but the fish and shrimp tacos could have had more meat and a lot less sauce. I really enjoyed the Al Pastor taco. It was juicy and was seasoned well. With PA indoor dining closed, the husband and I drove to DE for our Friday date night. Parking can be tricky since it's located in an apartment complex, so we had a circle around a couple times to find parking. The inside is bright and modern and they were decent with Covid protocols. There was a fairly large party sitting next to us which we were slightly uneasy with, but we were nearing the end of our meal. I ordered up in smoke cocktail as I love mezcal. It was certainly smoky and the mixer tasted fresh and not from a box. The chips and salsa that are complimentary were warm. We ordered the taquitos to start, loved them. They were crispy and loved the sour cream drizzle and two sauces. We split the 16 spice chicken burrito and we demolished it. It was huge and was so happy we decided to share something. Really enjoyed our initial dining experience at El Camino, a fave of my beautiful girlfriend's Dad. We took him to a lovely long dinner on a busy Friday summer night. The drink menu is great and they have one or two cool beer options, and the complimentary chips and salsa on the table were fresh, flavorful and plentiful - also promptly refilled! The margarita and the pineapple mojito were both well done. We enjoyed sitting outside, and they were on point with all the covid precautions. I enjoyed the fish tacos - it was a good recommendation from our server and they were yummy! The team did a good job and we all enjoyed a lovely dinner together. El Camino was a recommendation from our nephew who we were visiting while attending a basketball game at University of Delaware. It was six of us (on 2/8) and their beautiful new baby. There was plenty of parking which is always great. The restaurant was a nice set-up with plenty of tables and bar seating with beautiful Mexican décor. We made reservations prior and was seated immediately. Our waitress who was polite and very knowledgeable came over and took our order for drinks. We ordered a bunch of Margarita's: Strawberry Basil, Spicy Jalapeno Patron and Tropical. The drinks were beautiful in color and delish. We started with chips, salsa and guacamole, street mexican corn and calamari fritto. Our entrees were Fajitas, Tacos and Enchiladas Overall good food, great service with friends and family. Went for happy hour. Place has a great vibe accentuated by friendly bartenders Ryan and Lizzie. Tried the cheesesteak tacos and the fish tacos as well as the wings. The cheesesteak tacos are a misnomer. It is really short rib and I really didn't taste any cheese. It is very good but they should probably change the name. The fish taco was excellent as well and all the flavors blended well. One of the best fish tacos I've had. Wings were good. I wasn't crazy for the side of rice and beans Sauce was a little different than a typical buffalo sauce but good. Overall prices are on the higher side for Mexican food but considering the whole experience I didn't think it was bad. Will definitely try other items next time read more
