Pleasant little spot in Claymont. I got chicken huaraches and my vegetarian kid got cheese enchiladas. Both were big portions and very fresh. Seasoning on both was pretty light but the delicious salsas (served with freshly fried flour tortilla chips) brought them into tasty territory. Service was prompt and polite. The Real Deal: If you're in the mood for some authentic Mexican food, handmade tortillas and fresh, savory ingredients definitely show this restaurant some love. FYI: it's tucked away inside of a small shopping center. Be Careful: They serve complimentary tortilla chips and 4 different dipping sauces, which are all different levels of spicy (the red sauce being least spicy and the green the hottest). But the level of spice will sneak up on you, so try a little bit at a time because the kick will come with the after taste. These spices are hand-crafted and unlike any I've had at even some of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. Come Hungry: The portions are big so come hungry because it will be the last meal you'll need for the day. Feel Good Eating Here: The server we had was patient, kind and willing to explain what certain things were that we didn't understand on the menu. She made recommendations and advised us about the spice level of certain items. I took off one star because it was kind of cold in there. Very delicious! Service was strange or odd, but it was delicious food. I don't know why, when we walked in, it looked like the place was closed, because the tables were not set up, and didn't even look like it was open for business. It also took a really long time to wait for the food to be given to us. We ordered take-out from my friend's home, and had to drive all the way there to get it, had to deal with traffic, and got there kind of late, and it still wasn't ready. The food was so delicious, their dipping sauces makes your tongue fell like doing the Mexican Hat Dance. Also they give you a tease with their Mexican crab dip. All this before you order. Menu is small compared to typical restaurants but the flavors are gigantic. Decor is simple and the place looks almost deserted; but your reward is in the food. Really glad I checked out this place. This little Mexican spot turned out to be a great find, and there's a lot of competition in the area, but this is among the best. The waitress was very friendly, she brought out a basket of fresh tortilla chips (not the store bought stuff, maybe homemade?) along with four different sauces. Three of them packed some serious heat (in the best way), and all were full of flavor. Definitely a step up from your typical salsa and chips starter. I ordered the Tacos Especiales, and they were excellent. The handmade tortillas were soft and fresh, and the carne asada was perfectly grilled and tender. The combo of grilled cactus, onions, jalapeños, avocado, and fresh cheese was both simple and delicious--everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully put together. Portions were generous (you won't leave hungry), and for the quality, the prices were more than fair. You can tell they care about both the food and the experience here. It might not be the easiest place to spot at first, but it's absolutely worth finding. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Everything was spicy, burrito was great. enchiladas are spicy, and I love spicy food, but there was no indication on what foods were spicy! Was very much impressed since a lot of their food was very authentic! But our server didn't speak much English so it was difficult to make sure our order was right!
