I need a Weedwhacker to take down a lot of weeds around my property. I told them what I thought I needed, but then they asked me what I was going to do with it. They suggested the gas powered bladed Weedwhacker. So I went with that, and it was wonderful. It cut through those big mustard weeds like a katana through small pieces of bamboo. What I thought would take four or five hours only took about 90 minutes. They gave me a great rate and I'm very happy with the service. There great guys when you come in to rent there equipment but after you call them back to pick up there backhoe,they feel free to CHARGE your CCard $200.00 extra over and above there quote for 1/2 day usage and not even call you to tell you the final invoice!...1/2 a day $600.00???? I needed to knock down some tall, thick weeds in my backyard. The area is about 1/2 acre, so it was a big project. I messaged El Camino Rental through Yelp and was connected with Ted, the manager. I explained my situation and sent a photo of the property. He recommended that I rent a hi weed mower to do the job. I showed up early on Saturday morning to the Vista location to rent the machine. The staff was friendly, showed me how to use it and loaded it into my truck (it weighs almost 300 lbs). I was able to knock down all the weeds in under 2 hours! The machine did all the work and made this job a lot easier. I returned back to El Camino Rental, they unloaded the mower off of my truck and I was on my way. If you need to rent a tool or a machine, I would definitely recommend El Camino Rental. The staff was friendly and the price I paid to rent the mower was very reasonable. I also really liked that they responded quickly to me via Yelp messaging, that was convenient. I will definitely rent from the Vista location again in the future. Thanks guys! read more

These guys are great. I've rented their skip loader twice to do some very important grading at my place and as I was trying to beat the rains. I took the tractor on a Saturday afternoon just before they closed for the weekend to do grading all day on Sunday and return the tractor on Monday morning when they reopened. They were nice enough to only charge me for a 24 hour rental when in fact I would have the tractor for 36 hours. But when I went to use the tractor, it turned out it was just still too wet and I had no traction whatsoever in the Vista slick mud. Being a new guy in town, I had no idea how slippery this clay could be. Realizing it was going to be impossible for me to do what I needed to do, I returned the tractor on Monday morning and explained the situation to Sonny the manager, fully expecting to have to pay for some if not all of the rental despite getting nothing done (of no fault to El Camino Rental) and Sonny was nice enough to just tear up the bill and say "Let's just start fresh once it dries out up there". Being on an extreme budget, this was HUGELY appreciated by me. I went back a week later with the same plan after it all dried out and the tractor worked flawlessly and I got the job done. I highly recommend these guys. And if you go in, ask for Sonny and tell him "Scary Hairy Gary" sent you. : ) read more

This location of El Camino Rentals has problems. I got 2 loads of concrete was supposed to be a yard each, both were short loaded as they do not measure the amount of material but just guess. Also rented a bobcat to move some dirt ( Tires where bald and would not get traction on wet grass) and had nothing but problems, was told they would pick up the bobcat. I called to have it picked up and they told me the truck was broken and I had to store it on my property over night making me responsible for it. They finally came and picked it up the next day leaving tractor marks all over my driveway. They they charged me additional time on the tractor without talking to me more then doubling the original quote. Will not be doing business there again and would not trust them with your credit card. They make a copy of your card and they feel free to use it, I have filled compaints with county weights and messures and BBB. I would in the future use Pauley Equipment Rental or Coast, both have better equipment and prices. read more

George and Jimmy made renting a boom for a special "Killer Bee" control job go better than I had expected. The equipment was delivered on time and in good shape so that it worked perfectly. We took a hive of Africanized Bees out of the underside of an overpass and it was essential that the lift worked right to avoid injuries from the bees and liability issues with the City and NCTD. Everything worked smoothly because the equipment from El Camino Rentals worked right and Pinpoint did the job right. This is the 4th time I have rented equipment from George and Jimmy in the Vista office. One time I rented a log splitter that worked too slowly for my job, and they replaced it without charging me for the first one. Very fair; very professional; very good communicators; if you need some equipment or a trailer, I highly recommend El Camino Rentals in Vista. BTW: the other offices are pretty good also. read more

Called for a quote on a truck and was told "I'm not going to tell you" and was hung up on, I called back to speak to the manager and spoke to someone else and he told me that it was the manager George who did that. If the manager is the one being that disrespectful for a simple question i don't want anything to do with this company.
