This is an update to the review i wrote a couple weeks ago that somehow got posted under my wife's name, so I apologize for that. The manager described that review as a bold faced lie. Well now that I have clarified my identity he can plainly see that I have been going there for many years and have spent thousands of dollars, both myself and through hired contractors. My wife hasn't but he obviously knew that based on his original response. I don't know why he would accuse me of lying on something that's easy to confirm (spent $1,700 in 2019 on dump truck and bobcat, as an example, wood chipper, stump grinder, grass aerator, blower fans, chainsaws, trailers, etc...) but maybe he just doesn't value or appreciate me like his staff didn't since I'm not a giant corporate account. Anyway, I did have the machine for about 1.5 hrs. It was heavy and I had to get it loaded and unloaded by myself and get it set up. I was also working up by Vandegrift so there was almost 30 min drive each way. When I returned the item, the guy at the desk who acted like I was bothering him asked me if i wanted to exchange it and i said no thanks, unfortunately it looks like this tile will have to be stripped by hand. So then he just tosses me a receipt for $140. He didn't bother to explain my options fully before closing me out, didn't ask if I wanted to pay cash to avoid the 3.99% service fee for credit card (outrageous) or nothing, just took the whole amount off my deposit and walked off. I said "aw man you're still going to get me for the minimum?"and he said "ya you don't want to exchange it." I said "well i didn't know that was my only other option I guess I'll consider it but I'd rather just get my money back and go a different direction. I get it I understand that's the policy but maybe cut me a break since the machine didn't really perform and I brought it right back." He passed me off to another guy who backed up the first guy and then I asked to speak with the owner. He told me he was the owner but I know that wasn't true. He could have taken my name and # and had the owner call me or just said the owner doesn't take phone calls, anything but claiming to be the owner when he's not. I said I doubted he was the owner but in that case I would write a negative review of my experience and he said fine, beat it then and I said fine and that was it. This is 100% accurate accounting of my experience and I am definitely not out for a free lunch or to terrorize small businesses. The whole thing was a big hassle for me. I wasted 3 hrs and lost $140 for nothing. Thanks. As a side note, but perhaps more to the point is why they rent those rolling frame mounted tile strippers when the whole concept of the machine is flawed and they don't work on regular tile. They are set at such a low angle that the machine will just round off the lip of the tile and then climb up on top of the tile instead of getting all the way under it. I tried for 15 min with several techniques in several spots but literally did not strip 1sq. ft of tile with it. Surely I'm not the only one to complain about the ineffectiveness of this tool yet they continue to rent it today for $200/day, $120 for 1.5 hrs (just long enough to discover how lousy it is) read more

Coast Equipment Rentals shows their true colors after years of loyalty and thousands spent. So I went there to rent a tile stripper as I have done with lots of equipment from them but it turns out that the tool doesn't work as advertised, whatsoever. I gave it a fair shot for 30 minutes but it wasn't even worth trying to keep it for the 3 hr minimum and make the best of it. I decided to return the tool immediately to see if they would give me a break and refund my money. No such luck. They charged me $120, the minimum price. I argued with them a bit and said that was pretty cheap and petty of them but the guy James said he owned the place and said he didn't mind bad reviews and loss of future business... read more

If I could give no starts I would. Rented scaffolding ....80 dollars per day. They drop off scaffolding missing half the parts the biggest which would be the side support stands that keep the damn thing from tipping over. No guard rail for the highest level ( 15ft ) complete trash company... wasted my time and money. Would not recommend to anyone stay far far from this trash ass company, and if the owner is able to read this, get off your lazy ass and get your company in order instead of running a pile of shit. read more

The guys behind the desk are Always very helpful with getting exactly what I need for the job I'm doing. They have a lot of new equipment and I've never had a problem with any of it. It is disappointing that the owner would turn this into something political, rather than taking action that has been mandated for businesses that remain open. People such as myself are in direct contact with others who are at a high risk. I'm not too worried about getting sick, I'm healthy and have a strong immune system- but I am worried about infecting some of the people who are close to me. I rented a skid steer from them and everything worked well. They called me to let me know when the equipment was on its way to my house and it worked perfectly with no issues. I think a lot of people are upset because they either don't know how to use equipment or don't understand how it works. HANDS DOWN.....the WORST company you could ever deal with. There should be negative stars on Yelp and I guarantee this Company would be one of the worst reviewed companies on here. Ray was rude, disrespectful, ignorant, unapologetic, cowardly....the list could go on and on. I had a problem loading their equipment onto the provided trailer (The same issue they had when I picked up, they just had the luxury of a Bobcat assist them in the load. I did not.) After 30 minutes on the phone with them walking me through their own "personal" loop-hole technique on how to load onto their messed up trailer, I mentioned I was going to be running about 5-10 minutes after their closing time of 5:00. Their response: "And what do you want me to do about it...wait? What, do you think we don't have lives? I'm not f#!@ing waiting for anyone." Really? Was that even called for? After about 5 minutes bickering back and forth, he says "Oh, it's 5 o'clock, bye" and hangs up on me. It's funny how tough these guys think they are over the phone but in person, they don't say a word. Do yourself a favor and find a rental company that actually values their customers' business. Those are the businesses we want to promote on Yelp not ones like these grimy, scum-of-the earth type businesses that Coast would clearly fall under. read more

I have been renting from these guys for 20yrs. I'm currently renting a Cat D6, a Cat 613, a Cat blade and water truck. I came home from working today so impressed with their equipment i had to leave a review. The three Cats are totally reconditioned and run great. The water truck is brand new. This company, while busy and seeming to be helpful in some ways, doesn't care about its customers and from what I hear from the employees, it doesn't care about them either. 1. Their employee who helped me one time with propane was in a rage and yelling at me - I remained calm, didn't react to him and asked for someone else to help me and he then began to personally attack me - I reported this to their management at the time of the incident and they said "he just seems mad, that's just how he is." granted I am not vindictive and don't wish for him to lose his livelihood or anything like that, however he shouldn't be working with the customers directly if being in a rage is "just how he is." 2. They smoke in their lobby/shop where you pay and/or check out your equipment - highly disrespectful to their customers and their other employees who do not smoke as well as ILLEGAL. 3. They began parking trailers in the way of the propane filling area. I have a very small RV and I expressed my concern with maneuvering around this obstacle. I have been buying propane from them for over 18 months now and this was never an issue before. I brought it up to them twice and they dismissed my concern. The last time I went there their trailer caught on the back of my RV as I tried to do their crazy maneuvering - with their guidance, and severely damaged my RV to which they literally shrugged their shoulders and don't care. I recommend taking your hard earned dollars elsewhere, hopefully to company that cares about their employees and their customers. read more

These guys are the best, I needed a tile saw that could cut 24 inch tiles and they had one(other places i called only had to 16 inch). they were very friendly and loaded the saw for me, They also told me I had an extra hour over the 24 hour rental time for travel time. Most places your a minute late and your paying extra. After getting the saw home my second cut I cut the cord to the water pump that cools the blade. I rigged it to continue working and dreaded finding out what my little error would cost me. To my surprise the boss said no extra charge. I went in to the company to get a quote and also asked to get information on their liability policies in regarding rentals. Talked to a guy named Jose and he said it depends on which equipment is being rented. The policy differs on which equipment rented. Because I needed to find out the policy on a variety of equipment for a project of residential homes I asked for a standard policy. Jose would not provide any forms for me to review because he said there's actually only one form which states the delivery time and cost of the equipment to rent. The policy they provide for their customers are theft and fire damage. They don't provide any protection on damage for the customer. Jose replied there is only one paper to fill out and a credit card. He said he didn't want to rent out his equipment to me. Seems very shady on how this business runs. Sounds like their policy is a verbal agreement, nothing is in writing. VERY SHADY! read more
