Rice was good. Salsa was great.

I've yet to find a restaurant in Mississippi who can make a decent cheese enchilada. Using enchilada sauce from a can? And on a dry tortilla? And not even the correct cheeses? Give me a break. Taking advantage of the folks who live in the boonies of MS is not nice at all. If you're going to claim to be a Mexican restaurant, do it right please. I ordered a taco salad with beans instead of meat but there was almost no lettuce on it (a few small pieces were sprinkled on top). It had so much sour cream and refried beans (I thought they were going to use whole beans) that it was basically a disgusting slop of refried bean soup. Rice was good but slightly dry. Salsa was excellent. Guacamole was too mushy as if they were making baby food and not chunky and fresh as it should be. The ambience in the restaurant could be better. The lights are very bright so the ambience isn't as relaxing. You can just hear the tv, instead of festive Mexican music which would make it more fun for customers. More fun means more margaritas. The staff was very friendly. I may try something else from there to see if any other food is decent but most likely won't be back. Would rather drive for miles than waste money and a night out attempting bad Mexican food. Disappointed and hope they make real enchilada sauce and do it right.

Stopped by for a to-go order tonight. Sorry that I didn't take pictures, but, take my word, the food is awesome! It always is! And the service is great, too!

El Campesino has been a consistently good Mexican food hotspot for years, my entire extended family enjoy coming here. Service is top notch, as is the food. Expect a crowd on weekends especially Sunday's around noon. Kids love the cheese and guacamole dip. I had fajitas, wifey had the fajita taco all were very good and we left food on our plates due to the generous portions.

The four of us that went here expected it to be good unfortunately we were very disappointed with…read moreservice and food. We selected this spot because it's located across the street from the hotel we reserved and when we got out of our car the smell of the food was good. We went in and they kindly greeted us and said it we will be seated in about 30 minutes. We accepted and greatly was seated in 10 minutes, that was the good part. We walked to the table and I saw a guest with a plate of fajita and noticed it looked bland. They gave tortilla chips and salsa, the chips had no salt and the salsa was very mushy with no taste. I ordered Birria tacos, no season. The dipping sauce is very watery taste. It came with beans that had a very improper season. The enchiladas and other orders my family had was flavorless, low quality of ingredients, guacamole was too mushy. Someone dropped a plate that crashed on the floor. It took the waitress around 10 minutes to bring our tickets to pay. Waitress didn't check in on us. We had to wait for more water.

During a recent Hurricane evacuation, Hacienda San Miquel was conveniently walking distance from…read moreour hotel. Lunch proved to be our next meal and so we walked over. Not quite Margarita time for me, but I spotted a really fun full bar and an extensive menu of specialty drinks and bar food specials. The menu looked really nice and while I was gonna go for the street tacos, We opted for the limited Lunch Menu at the last minute. (served until 3) The lunch menu had something for everyone. I gorge out on the complimentary chips and salsa but my son chose to order the "large" queso which is definitely enough for 4 people... wow! what a portion. The salsa came in cute little carafe and was very mild for any latino tongue, but I loved it. Son ordered the quesadilla and I the loco burrito. Plenty of food, I really enjoyed mine which was accompanied by pico and guacamole salad. Son slathered his with more of the queso and we both requested boxes to go. The surroundings and staff were very pleasant. Perhaps I'll pop over for a margarita later, I saw a jalapeño one that might just do the trick.
