Titi and her baby..... LOVE "pips and bip"

Always good! Best Margs!! Fast, fresh and friendly service. Best pico in town. Enjoy!

    Awful Chili Relleno
    Jon S.

Terrible Relleno, bland chips from a bag and tasteless salsa from a can. After turning the cheese over you can see what they call a Chili Relleno here, it's only green bell pepper slices in a nasty overly salty goo. Quite awful.

Absolutely amazing service food and gold margaritas! A must for every Mexican food lover! Don't miss out!!!

My delicious, but decidedly not spicy, Chile Colorado

I may not be the first person to review El Campesino, but there is a good chance I'm the first person from Arizona to review it. I am originally from Tucson. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a good Mexican restaurant there. And because this is my favorite cuisine (see my Yelp! motto), I know what I'm talking about. Despite living in Phoenix now, this wasn't my first time dining at El Campesino. When visiting my best friend in Ohio several years ago, he suggested El Campesino. He's a big fan of Mexican food too, but he warned me it wasn't what I was used to. Warning noted. I understand that the mid-west taste buds are tame by comparison. Still, that's no excuse to stuff a bell pepper with ground beef, cover it with cheese and call it a Chile Relleno. That was then, but that misrepresentation stuck with me. I'm not sure that item is still on the menu, but I will do my best to focus on the positives from this visit. El Campesino is a nice, clean restaurant with some "southwest charm". The decor isn't particularly convincing, but it does the job to set an appropriate atmosphere. Obviously, you don't find rustic adobe buildings in this part of the country. Per usual, the service is very friendly. That's a given in the Midwest. And the food came out remarkably fast! Kudos to the kitchen. I knew if I chose something "spicy", it likely wasn't going to be truly spicy. Having said that, my entree was pretty good. My Chile Colorado was a great portion and the meat was very tender. The sauce was very flavorful, but it was only mild. I usually like to order different items on a second visit to get some variety. Still, I would order this again. Because dining here requires a warning for this desert dweller, let me forewarn any locals who may venture out to the Sonoran Desert... Even the mild options on any given menu will probably knock your socks off.

This was our first visit from out of town and we wish we lived closer. Food really fast and beers cold and cheap.
