I always get the grilled chicken quesadilla, a side of queso to share with the family and I love the house salsa and chips that come free with the meal. My daughter and wife love the steak tacos and nachos. Service is usually pretty good but we've had some slow ones but never rude. My first time visiting El Jalapeños and I was excited to see if there was a Mexican restaurant closer than the one I usually visit. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The service started off great with my server making suggestions and being attentive, but once my food was served, she disappeared and I never saw her again. I mentioned it when U paid the bill and was told she took a break. I have no problem with that, but it would have been nice to know, especially since no one replaced her and I was left to figure out how to pay in my own. The boyfriend and I can't ever decide on food except when it comes to this place. If one of us suggests it we are in immediate agreement. They are so quick and the food is well made. I've never had an issue with quality and the service is usually great. They have the bar inside if you just wanna get a couple drinks, they have outside seating if you want to enjoy the beautiful summer weather and they have dining for small groups or parties. I think the only inconvenience is depending on where you sit if there is a speaker directly above you it can sometimes be a bit loud. But the remedy to that is just speak louder so nothing to complain to much about. This place is pretty great! read more

We have patronized EJs for a long time, but it may be awhile before we go back. Things started well, with our server taking our order promptly and getting our food. The food was also good. However, getting our server back proved nearly impossible. We had to chase him down to get the check and leftover boxes, and he had our card and hadn't returned for 10-15 minutes until my wife chased him down. It didn't help that we witnessed a server reach into the ice cooler WITH HIS BARE HANDS. Flies continued to pester us through the meal. So I had to call the police on El Jalepenos today basically because they refused to call them on me. I have been going there for many years and I always talked so highly about them. Today before work I called and ordered six tacos to go as my husband and boys were eating ribs for dinner. I walk in to pick up my six tacos and the girl asks for my name and proceeds to the back. I assume that she is going to get my tacos but then comes from the kitchen. She asked me if I was there last week and I giggled and replied "yes of course weekly and my husband and I get our usual". She then slams a receipt on the counter and pushes it towards me and yells "you guys dined and dashed" ! I thought it was a joke but she stood there with an attitude and was being very rude. I told her there must be a mistake because I would never do that and she was just looking at me. I demanded that she called the police and even showed her my bank statement on my phone where I paid $20. Our waiter likes to drink a lot while waiting on us but that's not my business as long as I get my food. So I requested a manager and the police to be called and both were denied. I ended up calling the police myslef and showing them my bank statement and they were unable to get any information from the workers. I have been ordering the same food there for years which is a sampler azteca, large cheese, and a sprite which is usually around $18. The "unpaid check" that she presented to me was $20 so I knew something was off. Needless to say that the girl gave me the wrong check and I actually not only paid somebody else's check but I overpaid. The food was amazing!!!! The flavor was typical Mexican and I enjoyed it. I had delicious quesadillas with salsa that tasted like it was imported from Mexico that very day. I did not like that the waiter tried to put us near the kitchen, like who does that? Who wants to hear lots and pans rustling while you're eating? The music was not Mexican, rather it was annoying. However, the waiter spoke to me in Spanish so I am grateful for that! I will be going back here but I'll be even more stern with the waiter who tried to put us near the kitchen. Went as a group of four and one of use ordered fajitas and didn't get the tortillas until after his food was cold, no waiter or waitress walked by in that time. Three stars? Really? I'm angered actually to see this score. I have had nothing but stellar food and friendliness from all staff all 10+ times I've been here since 2019. The staff works their butts off. The food is CONSISTENTLY great and the quality is outstanding. Some of the best margaritas I've ever had. Love this place. They are so friendly here. Favorites are the Camarones a la Diabla and melting chimichanga. Signature Margarita is a little pricey but it is super tasty. But I just ordered $70 worth of takeouts and I got Hey small bag of chips and a little tiny salsa with my four meals and $70 worth of food. Every other Mexican restaurant is giving a bag of chips per meal not per take-out order. Very disappointed that I had to spend another $10 to get enough chips for my family. I think that was a little taken advantage of the situation. I don't think we will come back when the restaurant opens especially since I said something to the young man at the counter and he'didn't seem to care. Ordered take out, they did not include my order, and they put rice in my grandsons order instead of fries, and my wife waited 30 minutes to get my replacement, so her food is now cold. We ordered lunch for pickup at my office and my order was the only one that was correct, however it was so greasy that I couldn't eat it and wound up throwing it in the garbage. I've eaten at El Jalapeños (the spelling is wrong on the actual page, this one is right) for about a year now. When I started to go here, the food was excellent, some of the best Mexican I've ever had. HOWEVER, as time has gone by, their food has gone from awesome, to alright, to "eh", and now pretty close to mediocre. They lose a star right off the bat because of the obvious, their food. Although it may smell good from outside, it is deceiving. I have gotten many different things here, from their Super Burro (basically a giant burrito full of anything Mexican), flautas, and enchiladas. It all pretty much tastes the same. When there WAS Mexican spice in the food when I first started to come here, it all had the same flavor/beef and chicken flavoring. Now, their beef tips taste like they could be in a stew, and their salsa is watered down. Their food is almost downright bland, something you DO NOT want to taste or hear from a Mexican restaurant. The biggest, and possibly dangerous complaint I have for their food? It is almost never hot. Most likely, you will get a lukewarm plate of food, that will easily be near cold by the time you are done with your meal. This alone deserves another star taken away from their rating. They get another star docked from their rating because of the atmosphere. It isn't exactly the cleanest place, but it isn't dirty. The biggest problem is the people that come to eat here. There is an 80% chance that you will get seated next to a party of like 15 people, and at least half of those people will be drunk by the time they even sit down. They will be screaming/laughing/talking at easily over 100 decibels. Bring your earplugs, folks. The service, surprisingly, is extremely nice. They continuously offer to top off your drinks, and are very nice. The owner is very nice as well. I almost feel bad to give this restaurant such a bad rating because of how nice their service is, but I have given this restaurant probably a fourth-chance since they have gone downhill. Service is always good, although it is so popular here that you may wait a while for a table on a weekend night. Food comes quickly though. We are vegetarians so have limited ordering potential anywhere, but they come through, especially when you dine in and give explicit instructions. (sorry, but massive amounts of fried green peppers do not make for a good veggie burrito! Give me other veggies too, heck I'm saving you the cost of meat!). Usually order the Super Burro with just veggies and, if I am not very explicit, it arrives with lots of peppers, onions, and iceberg lettuce :o( They had a good spinach thingie at the end of last summer, on their separate special menu, and it was really good.
