This place is a small Taco place. I found them on Yelp. And boy was this the right decision. I ordered two tacos and soup. The two tacos were chicken for one. And Chorizo for the second one. The flavor was on point. The chicken was moist and perfect. And the chorizo had the right amount of spice. The soup was interesting to begin with. Because of the ingredients. The soup was cows stomach soup. I was apprehensive to order it. But I decided I would order it. I couldn't believe the flavor profile this soup had. You must order this soup. We discovered this via Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. The food is very authentic and filling. Tacos have fresh made corn tortillas with meat of your choice, cilantro and chopped onion. Salsa is fresh and also delicious. Excellent! We also split the chorizo quesadilla. Very tasty. And beer! You can get beer here. I grew up in San Diego and hence my Mexican food standard is wayyyyyyy too high. I don't think I have ever given 5 stars on Mexican restaurants outside of So Cal as I found them not too authentic. However, this place in Akron Ohio deserves 5 stars. This restaurant can succeed even if they relocate to So Cal. The taste is amazing and the owner is super nice. This tiny treasure of a restaurant is family owned and operated. They will make anything and everything as long as they have the ingredients in stock. So come knowing what you want already. They have QR menus but honestly you just order what you want. It's family owned and operated. Service is very pleasant; the main lady is such a sweetheart. Very few people speak any English so be prepared. They take cards and tap pay and have alcohol cans and bottles available as well as bottles and cans of non alcoholic drinks. My brother lives in Mexico in northern Baha and I visit every other year or so. This taqueria is a literal "slice of Mexico" recreated in Akron. Seriously, seriously delicious. The restaurant is so small they have no storage space, so they get their provisions daily... the result is that everything is super fresh, made from scratch, that day. You can tell from the tacos - the flavor is incredible. I visited on a Friday evening, so I didn't get to try the birria, tripe or other especiales reserved for Sundays. The owner is very warm and friendly. The Mexican workers who had come to have their Friday evening meal after work were all chatting over tacos, shrimp cocktails and Modelo especiales. I was born and reared in Tucson, Arizona, so I grew up eating delicious, fresh, authentic Mexican food. Because of this, I am a bit picky when it comes to Mexican food. It's hard finding delicious, authentic Mexican food in Northeastern Ohio. There are plenty of yummy Mexican restaurants, however, most of them are geared towards American taste buds. Taqueria Tres Amigos is both delicious AND authentic! All of their tacos are made on small, soft corn tortillas and topped with cilantro and freshly chopped red onion, just like they are supposed to be made! They garnish each plate with a cucumber slice to clean your palate and a lime wedge to squeeze onto your tacos. They have homemade roja sauce and verde sauce, and I love them both! I honestly can't decide which salsa I prefer! My two favorite tacos are the lengua (beef tongue) and al pastor (marinated pork with pineapple), although ALL their tacos are yummy! If you prefer more standar proteins, I recommend the asada (grilled steak) and the pollo (chicken). I also really enjoyed the chorizo (spicy sausage) and the cachete (beef cheek), although I'm not sure if cachete is a regular menu item. This place is THE go to hole in the wall taqueria in the Akron area as far as I'm concerned. The food is outstanding and the people there couldn't be nicer. Prices are right too. Had lunch here yesterday after finding it here on Yelp. The building from the outside looks like buildings you would see in Mexico. Latin store next to the restaurant painted white. Clearly needs a second coat. The restaurant is wedged between the store a T-mobile store. I pulled into a spot that said T-mobile customers only. I had to find a spot. I ended up on the side street. Everything is in Spanish and English. Mostly Spanish. Univision is playing on a large flat screen TV. I ordered 1 carnitas taco, 1 barbacoa taco, and 1 chorizo taco. With chips and salsa. Tacos are served on 2 corn tortillas and a wedge of lime with 2 salsas. The mild in the yellow bottle is a green tomatillo salsa. It reminds me of their salsa with the chips. Just puréed. The red bottle is spicy. Its pretty hot. The tacos have chopped red onion and cilantro on top of the bed of meat. The flavors of the beef and pork are the real stars here. Tender and flavorful and simply outstanding. The chorizo had a little spice to it and was tender inside with crispy outside bites. The chips were clearly homemade and they were served hot. They are thick and the salsa is a tomatillo loaded with onion and cilantro. I was the only English speaking patron at lunch yesterday. Everyone else here was speaking Spanish.
