If you want attentive, friendly service with a reasonably priced menu, do not go to El Cayo in Fajardo. I waited about 20 minutes before a waitress even acknowledged me. And then, when I asked for the menu to one of them when she was tending to a nearby table, she was annoyed. Finally, when I got to see their prices, I thought they were not worth the bad treatment. I would love to give this location 5 stars. But i cannot. The views are amazing as the restaurant sits right on the water. The restaurant has some excellent food. I ordered the Mofongo with churasco and it was delicious. The problem lies on how long we waited for our food. We waited over an hour for the entrees to come out. Apparently they were short staffed in the kitchen. They should of advised us that before we sat down. The server was great it wasn't her fault she tried her best to keep us informed of what was going on with our food. I wilk give it another try just because of the food. read more

This restaurant is placed in a beautiful location. Unfortunately one of the worst experiences and money spent. The food was not good, beans were not edible they were so salty. The steak was dry and flavorless. The chuleta kan kan was nothing to rave about. We paid over $400 to sit with a nice view. NOT TO ENJOY A MEAL OR FOR GREAT SERVICE! The owner of this establishment was rude and disrespectful when we mentioned our experience and the food concerns. As much as the restaurant is in a great location so are MANY others in Puerto Rico. Great view and atmosphere, friendly service. However the kitchen was VERY slow in delivery and even ran out of Several sides. Mamposteao rice was super salty. Coconut shrimp were DELICIOUS. Red snapper filet was bland but the salty rice offset it. Empanadillas were ok. Came her for the first today, I have been trying for a while but the congestion and waiting time did not allow it. However, not sure what is the reason for all the buzz, menu is not impressive, and the fish did not convinced me. The view is a nice one, although your drinks should be serve in koosie (Slim Can Cooler), the ocean breeze will heat your beer or drink in seconds. Go here if you want to spend a leisurely afternoon feeling the wonderful breeze and looking at the ocean. Do order everything once you get there as it's always packed. We ordered drinks, apps and food all in one go and it worked out great. If you want to be done with food in one hour this is not your place but if you are in no rush and want to have delicious food with a view this is the place for you. Nice outside, trash inside. From the staff, especially some middle aged guy acting like the owner. To the food which was 1 hr and a 1/2 late. This place knows its service and food is bad and will sit you down knowing they won't get you your food or provide service anytime soon. As far as they're concerned, if they put water on the table, you owe them. When I complained about the wait, they magically threw some dry lobster on my table. I complained to the waitress who offered to compensate me and my underage kids with a round of beer. When I refused that, I brought my gripes to the "Owner", rather than apologize for the lack of class and service, he said " that my problem is that I can't afford to take my family out" laughable since we had been on vacation eating out as a family all week. He then raised his voice and pointed his finger at my son and told him to stop talking. He clearly has some issues and does not understand some basic concepts of customer service. So if you have the chance to go, don't. Place looks high class on the outside, inside, this place is the polar opposite. read more

I know this place is known for its seafood but the ribs were the best I've had in PR. And the portion size is best for 2 people, just like the Kan Kan Pork Chop. We came as a pit stop on a guided tour (aka not of our own choosing) for dinner. The scenery is beautiful! The breeze sitting on the water was quite nice. Our orders were taken ahead of time by our tour group so I think the food came out a little faster relative to the other reviews. However, the food was nothing to write home about. We got the fried pork- it was meh. Very tough, dry, unflavorful. The rice and beans were the saltiest I've had in Puerto Rico thus far. We also got the red snapper- which was also salty and just alright. The food portions definitely are large, for better or for worse. Our waitstaff seemed very attentive, which was a plus. Overall, I would not recommend coming here u less you get something else on the menu! read more

the food we ordered did not taste nearly as good as we expected. we ordered chicken tenders, calamari (don't get it!), fried bread with lobster inside, and fried bread with beef inside. the calamari did not taste like calamari, and the breading was extremely hard. customer service was not that great. the food took 45 minutes to get to our table, and our waiter did not check on us. i do have to say their bathroom is extremely clean. there's a pool located next to the restaurant, but not sure if it's a part of el cayo. overall rating: 5/10 read more

I am giving this a one-star rating because it is required. We waited for over an hour and did not get our food. The waiter did not notify us of a delay in the kitchen, nor did any manager come out to provide anything for the inconvenience. We never even had the opportunity to eat because they never cooked our food. Ultimately, we left with paying almost $20 for beverages without any apology. Bad food, awful customer service, the only good things were the piña coladas and the view, but other than that this place sucks big time. We had to wait 90 minutes after our waiter forgot to put in our food order only to have it come out over cooked. The mofongos were dry and the criollo sauce is canned tomato sauce without seasoning. Very expensive for very mediocre food. The worst part, we didn't even get an apology or a comp when we told the manager and the waiter acted like we didn't just wait that long for food. Last night we had dinner at El Cayo and it was delicious. We started with the tostones rellenos de pollo and that would have been enough food for us to share for dinner. We were full already after that appetizer! For dinner my friend ordered a special that came with shrimp, chicken and steak in a butter garlic sauce that was divine. The best part of our experience was our waiter, Christian. He was so kind and personable. He took such good care of us that even when we couldn't get an Uber to drive us back to the hotel he offered to take us. Now that is customer service on the next level! I know people complained that the service is not fast but you are in Puerto Rico! Why not enjoy the beautiful view and delicious food! We will definitely be back! Be warned that it is pricey but well worth it. Just make sure not to order too much! read more

The food was okay for me, had empanades, server did not offer any sauces. The pork was overcooked for one of our party. The meal was served incorrectly for another of our party, and the fourth person didn't receive their meal over 20 minutes after everyone else had received their meals. Prices are acceptable on the "basic" food, otherwise it high for what you get. The servings are generous! Attention was mediocre. We ordered the mofongo with fried pork and the pork chops. The fried pork was tough while the pork chops were taste less (that is hard to do with pork). Take bug spray as there was a bug locals call "maje" that have a ferocious bite. Didn't like the mandatory 18% gratuity regardless of the size of your party. read more
