We went online to check their public skating schedule and found on Saturday's they have it open from 7:45-9:45pm. Definitely go on the website to double check their schedule. Also available online is the ability to buy tickets, which I did it made check in faster. Visited the spray park, outdoor fitness area, and playground and it was a hit!! Kids young and old liked the areas - littles liked the bigger kid stuff as well as the little kid stuff and big kids also liked climbing on smaller kid toys. Stayed a little over an hour and could've stayed longer. Covered picnic tables but otherwise full sun, really nice soft turf play areas. Fun spray park! read more

Surprisingly nice rink with their holiday lights and Christmas tree currently up! We stopped here with friends and family to go skating, well, they did, skater I am not. But it looked festive and cool! Word on the street was that the ice was pretty slick and chunky and was difficult to skate on the busier it got. We went here a little after lunch time and the wait wasn't long to get in but when we were leaving it was practically out the door. They had the typical skate rental, restrooms, lockers, vending machines, snack bar (or you can walk across the street to Dollar Tree to get snacks for a lot cheaper!) inside and the smell was nostalgic....a perfect blend of ice skating, hot dogs and teen spirit! read more

Even if you pay online, you still need to checkin. There is one line for checkin and people we didn't purchase tickets online. The line gets long. The skates don't come in 1/2 sizes, but fit ok. My son loves ice skating here. They also have one of the best new parks around that had so much more variety than any other park we've been to in Washington. The only downfall is the number of homeless people that are around area tends to make me feel a little uneasy. Yes, they are people too, but when a vast number of homeless are dealing with mental health issues and drug addiction, it makes a mother feel a little less safe. But, like I said, they weren't in the park area and weren't seeming to be doing anything alarming when I was there, so don't let that happen to turn you away from checking out this amazing place to take your family for the day. read more

Beautifully keep grounds. We had a great time playing softball in this park. A few bathroom stalls ran out of toilet paper so I did knock down my rating a bit. The softball tournament we played at was very organized and went smoothly. The concessions line went pretty quick and despite the heat they had quite an assortment of cold beverages. I've only skated here once--but aside from the confusion of arriving and figuring out where to go--it was a good experience. Ice was good, not too crowded (granted, I was there at what was probably a pretty low-traffic time)--and I'd gladly return if I found myself in that neck of the woods again. I do think it seemed like they probably could've done a little better of a job managing the public skate--there were some little hockey player dipsh*t children that had no regard for anyone else on the ice, and were skating waaaaay to aggressively for that situation, and without paying attention to their surroundings. Family oriented with hours that afford opportunity for working families to get their kids out.

This was an awesome place... for people who know how to actually play tennis or ice skate; in which I don't do either. I got 2 free tix so me and hubby decided to give ice skating a try. Well, more like me wanting to give it a try and dragging hubby to come along because I don't wanna look like an idiot by myself. So we get there and there's not much to look at as far as outward appearance. It's a huge parking lot, abundance of parking spots and when you get inside, you are facing the back of stairs where you have to slightly walk around to the right in order to see the ticket counter. You get your ticket and enter the double doors where you see the skates rental counter to the right and the actual rink to the left. There are benches around the skate rental counter where you can change shoes and then there are small lockers behind you to put belongings in there, (lockers are $0.25) otherwise you can leave your things under any open bench. Now I can only speak on MY OWN personal experience with ice skating, and my opinion is... I'm never going ice skating again. The rink itself is fine, but ice skating is just not for me. I could walk around in my skates perfectly fine on pavement outside the rink, but when I got on the actual ice... I think I saw my life flash before my eyes. It is just too ridiculously slippery. Hubby felt the same way as far as calling it quits at the rink! Like I said, the place is awesome if you know what you're doing. Otherwise you will just be wasting your money. Fortunately for me, my tix were free! I'm glad I could say that at least I tried it, but I can also say... I'm not trying it again lol! read more

Came here to ice skate with my gf and her brother. We did not know what to expect when we came here and possibly prepared for the worst. Since that it was located in Tacoma, we thought it would be ghetto or something. Anyways, our experience here at sprinker was great! The lady at the counter was really nice and didn't mind us not paying for the extra cents we did not carry in our pockets and let us through. The experience we had was smooth, we didn't encounter any problems throughout. We had a lot of fun and the staff was really helpful when you fell (I know because I did twice). Admission was only $6.02 per person! Which, btw is really cheap to go ice skating, with rental. read more

The on leash rule needs to be enforced. There have been 3 separate occasions where dogs have almost bit my 4 year old son. Please don't take unfriendly dogs to public areas with children. Definitely don't let aggressive dogs off the leash. read more

I was first introduced to Sprinker Ice Skating Rink at a work party. It was a really fun way to meet colleagues while doing something not work related. This place is always a fun place to go. When you come, you pay to skate and they provide you the equipment you need. The rink is fairly large and there are all different types of skaters. Beginner to pro. Trust me I was a beginner, I basically was a new born deer trying to walk for the first time. Come for parties, or even on a date (who wouldn't want to hold hands and have a great time conversing). The ice skating rink is always ready for skating when you arrive. They refreeze it every hour or so to make it easy for people to skate. It doesn't take long for it to refreeze either. They get one of those big vehicles out and ice the rink. Kind of fun to watch. It also gives you a break to sit down. Fun for all. Beginners or pros. You will always have a fun time here. I never got food before but they have concessions that you can purchase food at. My friend got a hot dog there and they liked it. No complaints. read more

Sprinker Recreation Center is one of those places you always pass by but never really know what it is until you check it out. In it they have ice skating and tennis right when you walk in. In addition, there are classes for everyone to enjoy such as Zumba, gymnastics, ballet, karate, and yoga. The outdoor tennis courts had some work done earlier this year and look really good! Other things to enjoy outside are the baseball diamonds, outdoor [full] basketball courts, playground area for the kids, SPIRE Rock, and the walking trails. I brought my little cousins ice skating a couple of evenings, and we all had a good time! The people working at the desk are always friendly and helped us with any questions we had. The skate attendants were also very courteous and informed us of proper boot size when it came to using their rental skates. Just a little note about ice skating: You will fall. Or rather, be PREPARED to fall. I fell and one of the skate attendants came to my side just to make sure I was ok. So that was nice. :) During the winter, their concession stand is open which is awesome! Hot coffee + ice skating = Winter Wonderland! They recently had a Food Truck Fest which was the bomb[dot]com! Their first event of its kind - AND HOPEFULLY NOT THE LAST (probably not the last because the turnout was awesome). Other events they hold are: Junk In Your Trunk - Basically a garage sale but instead of a garage, you sell things from the back of your car. Touch-A-Truck - ..Guess what you get to do? Haha, it's a pretty cute event. I think my niece and nephew went one year and loved it. Plus, who doesn't want to go and touch a firetruck?! (Look, I'm 25 and I STILL get excited about bounce houses so don't judge me about touch big trucks). Car Show - If you're into classic cars, THIS is the event to be at! The parking lot AND part of the little mall area between the building and ball fields showcase AT LEAST 100 classic cars. Some are timeless and some are unique. Honestly, you don't even have to be a car fanatic to admire some of these hot rods. My advice is to not only stop in to check the place out, but you should call ahead, too. Sprinker is huge multipurpose indoor/outdoor recreation facility in Spanaway. There's an ice rink and various ball courts inside the facility's buildings, plus several sports fields, forested walking trails, and the SPIRE Rock man-made rock climbing formation. I don't recall ever actually using the indoor facilities here (if I did, it would have been years ago during a childhood excursion)-- but as an adult I've enjoyed the use of the forest trails and climbing rock. Plus, it's just nice to know that the area's kids have such an awesome resource for learning, playing, exercising, etc. Hopefully Sprinker will remain a community asset for generations to come! read more

I'm in love with my new tennis facility! Coming from Seattle, I bounced around to any tennis center that would take me. This lead me to playing at Amy Yee, Seattle Tennis Club, Robins Wood, AV Tennis Center, and Sand Point. While all I enjoyed (primarily because of the activity I was partaking in, really), Sprinker has the best, most committed staff and players around! Let me explain: 3 days a week they have top of the line tennis drills for players of all levels by pros that are amazing. The pros are very accomodating and helpful, and the drills are fun and great exercise. Furthermore, within Sprinker, they have an ice skating rink, racquetball, ping pong, a pro shop, and seating for viewers. You'd think the latter would be the norm but so many facilities don't have anywhere for viewers to sit and watch comfortably or at all to actually see the court. I am so blessed to have Sprinker in my neighborhood, and will keep being a vocal advocate about how amazing it is! read more

Aside from the more popular skating rink, Sprinker provides a high quality tennis court both indoors and out. Also, there are about 5 racquetball courts with a Wallyball extension. In the short amount of time that we have been there we have received awesome customer service from the tennis pro shop attendant named Ryan. I love the hockey and skating instructions they give to the children. The price is perfect at $72.00 per child. With that price you have plenty of coaches and staff on hand to advise the children on techniques and skating skills. I would give this facility a five stars for this but i can't bring my children to the rink for extra ice skating lessons due to the limited availability of the free skates. The free skates, or public skates are only a few hours long and are at terrible times during the week. However, if you want to learn to skate, play hockey or have your children play this is the place to come. it is worth the price. read more

Winter is here and it's cold outside so we decided to pack up the kids and take them for a wintery outing to the skating rink. The facility isn't as nice as I remember it being, but it's been several years since I was here. It just seems more seedy and run down.
