We were visiting the area for a family reunion. We went on a Saturday night with a large party (we had a reservation and they gave us a private room) and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They handled our large party like we were a small table. Drinks and chips and salsa stayed full. Food came out quick and was tasty and we were never rushed. We stopped here on our way south and we were very glad we did! I had the dinner quesadilla with steak, onion, & bell peppers and it was fantastic. I could cut the steak with my fork. My husband had a dish with chicken, shrimp, onions and bell peppers that was excellent as well. I have to recommend their margaritas. I'm picky about my cocktails. I hate margaritas from a mix. Our waiter, Jose, was really helpful with the menu and told us the margaritas were made with fresh lime juice, no mix. I have to say it was one of the best I've had. I can 100% undoubtedly say that this is so far my all time favorite restaurant in the Montgomery and surrounding area! this was so refreshing; I'd been craving Mexican food for two months and this was just what I needed! We went on the weekend and they had an unlimited buffet at an insanely reasonable price (I believe $7.95). I didn't get this because it was nearly all meat for the buffet, but I'm told it was excellent. I can also attest that the vegetarian plates (of which there are several to pick from) were delicious as well. As Americans, do we really believe this is actual Mexican food? If you do....please put visiting Mexico on your bucket list! (More than 10 miles inside the border of a tourist spot please) Taking boiled ground beef, adding some spices, and putting it inside a flour tortilla with some red sauce on top is NOT a burrito. A poblano pepper cut open and stuffed with cheap ground beef is not a Chili Rellano (it was not even battered and fried). A corn tortilla dipped in enchilada sauce and stuffed with ground beef is not an enchilada. You know your in trouble when you get your food in under 5 minutes. I can't get my order from McDonald's that fast. If you have any respect for food at all, you should avoid this place. We are new in town and wanted to try out some new Mexican. We went here based off of great reviews. Our first visit was slightly better than the 2nd, but not by much. We waited 5 min to be seated. Once seated 10 min to be waited on. Once waited on, 15 min for someone to come take our order! We had our 3 kids with us and they were hungry and not having it, yet no one seemed to care much. It took SO long, we had to get our food to go because our kids had taken a turn for the worst, mostly because they were hungry! It seemed as though they were short staffed but nothing was said about it to us. The food was decent, so we decided to go back for a 2nd go, hoping the service would be better. It took 5 min to be seated, we were brought chips right away by someone who was not the waiter. We then Waited 15 min, before i got up and asked the 'manager' if maybe we were missed, and that we had been waiting quite awhile. And his response was, ' maam its quite busy, you are welcome to leave if you cant wait or we can wait on you when we get to you.' And in quite a rude tone... Really?? Who says that to a customer! We will not be returning there ever. If they are not willing to serve customers then they need to close their restaurant. Its ashame really. We were as patient as we could be. Compared to any of the other local places when it comes to tacos this place has the the best tasting ones for sure. Service is prompt and friendly. After a long drive, we stopped in at the Comfort Inn and Suites just off I65. A quick search found El Cerrito Mexican Grill in the immediate area. The reviews were mostly great, with some very critical. We chose to stop in for dinner and our own review, and found the great reviews spot on. We ordered "supreme enchiladas" and were given complementary nachos and salsa. The salsa was excellent and the nachos a treat after the long drive. The enchiladas arrived shortly and admittedly, we added the remaining salsa to our plates. The dinner was tasty, filling, and very reasonably priced. We had to decline the desert options. The establishment was very clean, the staff courteous, efficient, and pleasant. The tables were Covid spaced and the staff was masked. We found the complaints that the Alabama "Mexican" restaurant was not authentic Mexican to be somewhat unreasonable. We enjoyed our visit and dinner, and do not hesitate to recommend this establishment for an Alabama Mexican meal. read more

There is nothing authentic....they say they went Tex-Mex completely to accommodate the area but they don't even do that well.
