My Father owns a business near by , and on his lunch break he went over to get something to eat , he waited for a good 5 min and no one sat him so he sat himself , (mind you it was a slow weekday) , after a while he had to get someone's attention to bring him a menu , they bring one over and no one bothers to come back to take his order , he than starts getting frustrated and gets another servers attention to bring him a soda, 30 minutes later no chips or salsa but a forced Soda , he than got up and went back to the register pulled out a wad of cash and chucked 10$ to that server for her soda . Least she deserves. Sorry he wasn't dressed to your standards he runs his own shop! When I drive by I can't even stand looking at the location . if I could I'd put negative -5 stars .... read more

I had a late dinner at El Chapala last night with my wife and parents. As everyone else has said the chips, salsa and beans you get for free are awesome. Everyone really enjoyed our meal and i liked that the staff warned/asked if your meal was going to be spicy and then had the kitchen adjust the heat if need be. My wife doesn't like spice and enjoyed her meal. I do love spice so the server said he'd tell the staff to keep the recipie as is and it was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for great mexican food in Kennewick. read more

Excellent service! Our waiter added an extra element of fun to our night. From beginning to end, our meal was great! The food was outstanding and there was lots of it. I ordered a simple well-done Hamburger from these people. What I saw in the heavily condensated upon metal container was a burger patty that had been spat on and just barely cooked to brown color. Charge me 5.25 for a frozen burger patty from Walmart with spit on it, and I will write you a vitriol laced review for your trouble. Best mexican food in town unfortunately the lack of service can't make up for great food. I've given this place numerous chances hoping a new server would better the experience yet every server is just as horrible as the last. I have to find the server when im ready to order, I have to find the server to get a water refill, along with to get a togo box and check. My husband and I are sort of Mexican food snobs, so when we saw the weary decor we expected mediocre food, at best. But no! The sopa de tortilla was rich with chicken and big enough to take home half for lunch the next day. My husband had the puerco en salsa verde and he fished his whole, generous plate! I had hopes of finding a good Mexican restaurant in Tri-Cities, but alas, I think we are doomed to below average. As we got out of the car, we were greeted with the smell of a grease trap that needed desperately to be cleaned out. For those who have never had the pleasure of smelling a dirty grease trap, it kind of smells like a septic tank. We went in anyhow and we were seated promptly and water, chips, salsa and bean dip was brought out. The salsa was really good, but the bean dip had no flavor at all. Even just a little salt would have made it better. I had to add Tapatio to the bean dip to make it palatable. I ordered the Camarones al mojo de ajo and my wife ordered the Taquitos. The food came out in about 10 minutes. That was the first warning signal, but it was 5:30 PM and they weren't busy yet. But when the waiter set my plate down, the shrimp right on top had not been cleaned properly, I could see it's last meal staring me down. That is a big deal to me when they cannot even clean a shrimp properly. Fortunately, it was just one shrimp and it was right on top (yes, I did inspect them all) and I was able to clean it. My wife's taquitos looked like they had been taken out of the freezer and microwaved. The guacamole was tastless. I have not even addressed the issue of cleanliness, this place was not clean. I have been to Chapala restaurants before and had good food and service, but this place has really gone down hill. Don't think I will be going back. read more
