Will never ever go to this restaurant again. They have an affiliation with a local towing company who tows cars in the parking lot. The sign stating parking is only for customers is only visible from the street and not in the lot. We used to eat there 2-3 times a month but not anymore. Never recommend it again. read more

Best Mexican food in Molalla, OR for sure. I love the waiter there, and he'd always take good care of my family and I when we'd go here once a week or so. Also, fantastic, POWERFUL drinks. I'd recommend one called The Electric Watermelon on their menu. It makes my knees weak. So, I was saddened when my family and I moved to Silverton about 15 miles away. No more El Charrito, I told myself in a cloud of depression. So we went out here to a place called El Toro downtown. A few minutes inside I see a familiar face. Wait, it can't be the waiter from El Charrito, can it? No, but looks similar. Then I notice the menu and food is the same. So I ask the guy, and find out that YESSSS, it's his brother, and El Toro is El Charrito's sister restaurant!!!!! Same food, same hospitality via the same wonderful Mexican family. Best Mexican food in town! I have eaten here for as long as I can remember. The service is wonderful, and they are very attentive. You will never run out of water or chips and salsa. They are on top of it. Even when it's really busy! Their Carne Asada is seasoned nicely and very tasty. Their salsa is fresh and quite spicy, so add the beans to it if you're sensitive. I've tried the other places is town, but this place is my favorite! And their prices are really reasonable. Don't forget to try a Rosarita margarita. read more

Went with two of my kids. Had a lot choices to make but was disappointed in price vs portion sizes and also with service. Food was good but for the amount of money you spend portions was small and ingredients was minimum. After everyone was done the waiter took 20 minutes to give us the check. It was a Friday night so a little busy but when I see others come and leave before us I felt ignore. The booth we had sat directly in front of the kitchen so it's not like you could not see three people sitting there waiting for a check. One might think finding good Mexican food in a small town like Molalla would be like finding silver in a gold mine. But it can happen here. I've been here twice now and have enjoyed each visit. Chimichanga...great! Nachos... very good! Pitcher of ritas...yes please! My last visit was this past Monday. It was slow. The servers seemed like they would fall asleep at any time. Then, in the back dining room, a clamor of noise and 4 workers started singing happy birthday. But it was nearly in slow motion. Did we interrupt siesta? Were we in some new dimention? Everything from the Chili Relleno combo lunch to the chips and salsa were one of the best finds in this area yet, although a little far from home. Great food! Love this place! Amazing Cadillac Margaritas, be careful as they are strong! Owners are always there, they care about their customers. I visit Molalla area about 4 times a year and eat here every visit. Customer service is top notch. Decor is cheesy (kind of creepy) but clean and fun. The food isn't the best Mexican I've ever had, but its darn good. The Salsa has too many onions, but the salsa itself s good, just dodge the onions.The mexican pizza is my husbands favorite, I like the tacos and enchiladas. The beef is well marinated. I'm a food snob and an even more so a Mexican food snob. (Boo - Chilis or any other Mex chain, they all suck.) The decor is "funky" , granted, but its run by a family for families. One of the owners is there all times they are open, a lot of concern. Chips, salsa and beans are always on the table, they don't let you run out. We are from out of state and called in a take out order tonight. I asked what was in their super burrito. Was told beans and rice with meat. The other stuff we are used to getting in a super burrito comes on top. Well please check out the photo of the pork super burrito that my husband ordered. No beans, no rice, no topping. Just very dry pork swimming in verde sauce making the tortilla like rubber. Inedible. Our other burritos we also soggy although all the stuff was there. Texture mushy and flavor not good. The tamale we ordered was hard as a rock, like it had been microwaved over and over. I cannot believe how bad it was for the almost $50 spent for 4 meals. I guess people in Oregon haven't had good Mexican food otherwise the food reviews wouldn't be good. read more

This is a great spot-- good food, fast service, and the decor is fun! The booths are kind of kitschy western, which totally works with the building. I especially liked that the lunch menu is available every day, including weekends, so if you're not a big eater, it's not overwhelming like many Mexican restaurants tend to be. I hate leaving such a low rating, but the last 5 or so times I have been there haven't been the best. This is a mixed review of ordering to go and in restaurant. Ordering to go they always seem to mix up things, last time I asked for corn tortillas and got flour, today I ordered a steak fajita and they gave me chicken. I'm not a big fan of chicken so I'm pretty disappointed and wasted money tonight. (didn't want to drive back) In restaurant the last time I went, it was around noon and there was one table I could see of people, pretty slow. The server wasn't very friendly. The Margarita I got looked like something you would buy from a store, and it wasn't mixed. The waiter was nice (not the server) but completely forgot a beer that my dad ordered, in a restaurant with one other table. All in all, I will find another Mexican food place to give my business. Food isn't bad, just not good customer service and too many mix ups. Turns into a hassle wondering if I'm going to get the right thing. read more

All I have to say is I would drive 2 hours just to have El Charrito. Ev-er-y-thing is good. The mole is superb, The Arroz con Cammarones, (rice and shrimp) will make you keep eating every little morsel until you feel like you going to explode. The wait staff is super friendly. Service is prompt and attentive. The margaritas are awesome, there are so many ways they can make them. The dining choices in Molalla are very limited by most standards. One night we decided to check out the local Mexican fare. The menu, decor, and waitstaff are fairly standard for a run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Well, besides the unique and somewhat creepy art. Margaritas are large and in charge and if you have more than one you just might be brave enough to try the oddly white looking refried beans. Never seen anything like it before. The beans could be a new GM hybrid or maybe just so laden with lard that they take on a whitish hue. I wasn't so brave. I tried the deluxe nachos and chicken enchiladas and everything tasted downright stale, even the salsa and chips. Salsa and chips free btw, at least they got that right. Anyway there is something very odd about this place. Something creepy about it that reminds me of an Xfiles episode from long ago. Call me crazy but something in the milk ain't clean. If you find yourself in Molalla, try one of the other four restaurants in town. read more

Absolutely terrible. Two for two. Service is always awful. No one looks happy to be here. The salsa is bland, basically watered down tomato sauce with large chunks of onion and tomato. Upon entering we were seated by a hostess who seemed to have the social ability of a gnat. Once we got our menus, we had to wait 10 minutes to order and had to ask for our complementary beans. Salsa was ok. I had the carne asada. It was flavorful but burnt. The avocado/bean tostada was mostly lettuce and we thought we were lucky to even get asked how the food was. On top of all this it was dark and bathrooms very run down. If it wasn't for the service and we were feeling generous, the food might have been 4 stars but the service felt like about 1 star.
