We came in to order takeout and were excited since they had a steady stream of customers and all the food we saw coming out looked delicious. They have an extensive selection of baked goods as well that also looked appetizing. The dining room had ample seating with no frills, think cafeteria vibes. Parking was also easy, as they have a designated gravel lot. Unfortunately, aside from the price point, we weren't impressed with the food or the wait time. We stood to the side of the counter waiting for our food and we noticed multiple people who ordered after us had already received their food. It took a while to get someone's attention at the register and they tried to pretend like the food just became ready when it was obvious they grabbed a bag that had been sitting there for some time. When we got to our car to eat immediately after receiving it, the food wasn't freshly hot anymore, soggy, and just not good. Went on a hike nearby and stopped to eat after. The place has food, baked goods, and popsicles. I got the everything burrito and my friend got a huarache. The food is something I can make at home. It was bland and boring. I would say this is a Mexican place that does the bare minimum when it comes to their food. The owner (dude with white teeth) talks to his staff so loudly and so much by the time I left, I knew everything about his life. I asked the waitress for a refill, and the owner started talking about personal stuff loudly again. Let her do her job man. As far as ambiance? Let's just say, there is none. Sitting outside in the sweltering heat would have been more enticing and entertaining. All these 5 star reviews are shocking to me and they are probably just people who don't know what good Mexican food is because they never left the area or they just want to be small business centric. After reading all the amazing reviews thought we would try this place for lunch. We ordered carne asada tacos and an everything beef burrito. Looked like a charming little place. The lady at the counter was very friendly. Wasn't very impressed with the food, I must say. It was just okay, not horrible. Just not great or something that really wowed us. The Everything Burrito was huge but mostly all rice and the bit of beef that was in there was dry and gristly. The tacos were just filled with the same gristly beef. Was difficult to chew and dry. We were only given two small green sauces and the containers were only half filled! The tortillas were good though and authentic. Underwhelming and really wouldn't care to come back again. Almost $30 for four tacos and a burrito. Really should be a two star but gave the extra star for the pleasant staff. read more

We really enjoyed Los Girasoles on our trip to Silverton. This is a long time local favorite. It is so nice to see the care that is put into each meal. If you're in a rush, call your order in ahead of time! All of the food in made fresh so it takes a little bit. They also do have lots of pan dulce that are grab and go. The dining room is small and cozy but can accommodate large parties I imagine. read more

I was passing through the area and we had stopped at silver falls ale and brewery, 2 minutes up the road. I wasn't craving any bar food. When you're a vegetarian, bar food can disappoint you. This restaurant did not disappoint. The outside had ample parking and wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon. I l or in bigger city and it's hard to find any Mexican restaurants open after 5 pm on a Sunday. I am so glad we stopped in. There were multiple vegetarian options. I'm not a strict vegetarian, I didn't ask if there was lard in the rice. But I did get the vegetarian burrito and a vegetarian tamale. The burrito was yummy. Cabbage, cilantro, I added avocado, cheese, sour cream, rice and beans. The tamale had a nice texture in the corn outer layer. There was Mexican cheese, a long green pepper , and tomato (?) slice in the vegetarian tamale. I felt very special because I often don't have the option to order a tamale. I would add more cheese inside the tamale, but then again I've never made tamales and idk if that would work with the steaming. I would order both items again. I loved this restaurant so much because they also sold bags of chips, tostadas, tortillas, so many drinks, baked goods, and ice cream. Almost like a small grocery store. Indian restaurants sometimes do this, so it made me happy to see this style of restaurant with additional cultural snack options. I wish I would have ordered a can of mango nectar with my meal! Overall the price was great too. $28 for 2 burritos and 2 tamales. And our food stayed warm all the way home on our 1 hour drive. I want to go back and try a $2 baked good! You can't beat that price. And maybe they would have more tres leches cake I didn't try theirs, but I'm guessing it was good because it sold out! read more

However, each time we've gone, the service is unfriendly and even seems to be bothered by taking your order. This has been overlooked several times in an effort to be fair and understanding that sometimes we all have bad days. Passing through from LA California...the best Mexican food! Chili Verde burrito and Mexican Bread Amazing!

1st time eating here. Went in and ordered a shrimp tostada, carnitas tostada, chicken burrito, and a side of refried beans to go. Paid and was told 15 min. I waited outside in car and came in 15 min later. Order not ready yet, told few more minutes. This happened three more times. After 45 min it was ready. Food was all in a bag, with the burrito under the paper container holding the liquid refried beans. This resulted in the container collapsing during my 2 min drive home. Additionally, the chicken burrito was made with beef instead, and my tostadas were both cold. Two stars because the carnitas tostada tasted good after I microwaved it, and the burrito wasn't bad. read more

According to the person working the counter when we visited, Los Girasoles is not related to the food truck of the same name in Portland, even though both of them have similarly styled sunflower artwork. Happily, both places have very good food. I went with a carne asada quesadilla that was heavy on the carne and consequently wonderfully meaty. My wife was very happy with her selection of a couple of tacos, and we raided the pastry cupboard for ridiculously affordable sweets to take with us. Although it's an order-at-the-counter and take a number establishment, the young man working behind the counter came around multiple times to check in and replenish water at all the tables that were occupied. This was a great place to stop for lunch, and I'll happily return the next time we're in the area. read more

This is such a wonderful little Mexican restaurant/panadería. For the bakery: they have a very large selection of various pastries -- everything was just wonderful and very fresh. Their non-bakery foods are also delicious -- I have ordered tacos (carnitas and carne asada) and also their huarache. Their tacos are delicious, generous with the meat, great flavor. Their salsa are also very good -- they serve a red and a green one one the table. The huarache is a big thick oval masa tortilla, topped with pretty much everything: beans, meat, cheese, avo, veggies. It was a big meal for me there *plus* two additional leftover meals. Small red barn building on the edge of town. It was busy lots of to go orders and diners. We had tacos and tamales. The pork pastor was the best taco. The tamales were a bit dry. The green and red bottles sauce they make were okay. The green sauce was the better of the two. They have a giant burrito I saw pass by. I'd come back and try other items on the menu. read more

What a welcome find, thanks to yelp for this "hole in the wall" entry. On a mini vacay to the Oregon Garden Resort, also located in Silverton, I hungered for real, authentic type food. Los Girasoles no doubt, brought a smile to my lips. Immediately after entering the door, I ordered up three tacos - lengua, cabeza, and tripa meats to be exact. This trio plate hit the spot, however the tamale I ordered along with it did not impress. I'd avoid that option if I had to do it again. Bookmarking this location is highly advised for Silverton, OR. Can't say enough about this little charmer of a Mexican restaurant and bakery. Everything is made from scratch and is delicious. Their mole poblano is the real deal, not jarred. Delicious and authentic Menudo on Saturday and Sunday. Many different breads, all fantastic. Came across this place on my way back from Silver Falls State Park, and I'm sorry I passed it up on numerous occasions over the years. My only let down were the fish tacos, which were wet with "juice". They could have been cooked longer to adsorb the liquid, but were still delicious. read more

Oh wow!! This place does not disappoint-true authentic Mexican food! Great taste, great portions and great service! Wish their tamales had a little more meat than masa and wish they carried XL cup sizes bc the horchata is DELICIOUS. My fiancé got the enchiladas and was able to get super full on half the dish- he ate the rest for dinner! My little brother got a burrito and it was hefty and full of flavor. I got the mole combo and again, I got super full off only eating a quarter of the dish and ate the rest for dinner! A little pricy but for the quality and portions they serve- it's just about right! If your around this place YOU MUST CHECK IT OUT. We live 45 minutes away and we will definitely be coming back soon!! read more
