It was our first time here ... The server was nice - We were excited about the fresh chips and salsa. The place was clean, but the lighting was a little bright for my taste. Service was fast...drinks were weak...and the ENTREES -- UUUGH!!! Bland, bland, bland. Fajitas - Steak was tough, and the shrimp were right out of the freezer. Well, can't say this was an amazing place to eat. We sat for almost 20 minutes before we had the waitress come by and ask us what we want to eat. We had to ask if we could order some drinks first. Got that out of the way and ssssssllllllllooooooooolowwwwwwwllllllllyyyyyyyy got chips and salsa, then drinks moseyed on over to the table. So between ordering drink & getting drinks and appetizers the lovely couple across from us ordered, ate and left. Crazy right, it was like we were in the twilight zone. Food was mediocre at best but the not so best part was the waitress. She was just miserable so of course we got to enjoy that time with her. I don't know what happened but the waiter was just very weird to our table the entire time. He seemed very impatient, mocked us when he walked away twice, and never came back to check on us until we were all just seating and looking around to take our food to go. When asked for another drink he pointed at all of us and said, "You already ordered drinks." That may have been a joke, but it wasn't funny at all. We were very uncomfortable and lost our appetite. In my opinion, most Mexican restaurants have much less variance in their menu and quality than any other cuisines out there. While I can pick the restaurants I like and don't like from the pack, I feel it can be difficult to separate the good from the bad. But these guys have done a good job with a few small touches that have elevated them above most places you go into. I want to say the restaurant isn't much to look at. The shopping center itself could use some love and the inside is just okay but the food was very good. The first nice touch was they didn't just give you one salsa at the table. They gave you two different kinds. It was unique and both were excellent. It was chunky and some of the tomatoes had char on them. They didn't just dump canned tomatoes in a blender here. They really had some thought and purpose behind making the salsa. I like that the lunch menu had lots of good options from the basic combos to some specialty dishes as well. I ended up getting the chicken breast covered in cheese and felt that the chicken breast was tender and juicy unlike many restaurants. It was well trimmed as well. They were also generous with the cheese on it that covered the chicken and the rice and beans that came with it. It also got served with a guacamole salad which was a slight disappointment. There wasn't even half a tablespoon of guacamole on there and only plain chopped iceberg lettuce. Overall it was a good lunch and I quite enjoyed it read more

It's a Friday night, so I expected it to be crowded. Had to wait 5 mins or so to get seated. Waited another 7-8 minutes before a waiter came by. Took our drink orders (margaritas) and by that time we were ready to order also. Chip and salsa arrived. About 10 mins go by and our order shows up. I got fajitas while my gf got the Gorda (chopped chicken breast with cheese). I asked where's the cheese. There was very little cheese on the plate making the chicken dry. Tried to get the attention of our waiter but to no avail. Had to flag down another waitress in order to get some extra cheese. The fajitas had very little taste. Only got two tortillas. While there the waitresses put together several tables for a large group. They made so much noise dragging tables and chairs across the tile floor, it became irritating. There is no sound proofing, so the noise echoes throughout. The decor is typical Mexican. Surprisingly, the group of 20 people with kids were quiet. The tab for our two meals with margaritas was quite reasonable. I prefer to go to another Mexican restaurant in town. read more

The Bypass location is my favorite because it's the newer one and has more seating than the original location. Simple American versions of generic Mexican Food right?! How did they serve the fajitas with no onions & not sizzling?! Lukewarm Fajitas?! How is that possible?! My plat was also lukewarm & lacked flavor & why was my burrito drowned in enchilada sauce & cheese?! But here's what really pissed me off, my Chile Relleno looked like re fried bean dip with cheese on top. Ummmm last time I checked Chile Relleno involved a WHOLE CHILE stuffed with meat, or cheese, or both! Then it's fried & served on top of a tomato chile sauce. Really people?! Unacceptable! Very disappointed. Especially since the complimentary hot tortilla chips with cheese & salsa were good. Then it all went downhill. First time here, had a Burrito (if memory serves me right the Burrito Loco). Stuffed with chicken and smothered in cheese, beans on the side. I expected the chicken to be shredded and instead it was strips of chicken breast which isnt as good. Have had better burritos (the equivalent called Burrito California in most other places I've been to). Endless chips and salsa. Service was quick. Willing to give them another try and maybe do the nachos or fajitas since those typically are good everywhere. read more

Despite its flaws (noise level, crowds, etc), I keep coming back. The food is fairly consistent. My husband and I both love the chicken fajita nachos, and the burrito loco w/shrimp is delicious. The only reason the score is so high is because my meal was awesome. The waiter "J. Luis " Was terrible. He forgot my drink order within 2 minutes of me requesting it. Then he forgot to even get my food order. He nearly walked away before my wife got his attention that he forgot to even speak to me. My order was the chimichanga combo which is now my favorite Mexican food. My wife got a chicken fajita meal and was surprised that it only came with two wraps. We frequently go to Cielo, and they give 3. You can get more, though, two at a time. Flavor was she said they were pretty good, but salty. To compliment the meal i ordered a margarita, which was meh. My wife got a piña colada. She said it was the worst one she's ever had. On a side note, I'm not a fan of the "pay at the counter" at the end style. It's fine if it isn't busy but we had to wait in line for 10 minutes to pay our bill. Overall, I'd say a decent experience, but now we know a few things on the menu, and on the staff, to stay away from. read more

Great Mexican place in Covington. I got the cheese sauce to go with the chips and salsa and it is the white cheese that I like so much. I then ordered the cheese enchilada, the beef burrito, and the beef chile releno. They came out fast and hot. The cheese enchilada had the same cheese as the dip which made it yummy and the ground beef in the burrito was seasoned just right. However, it was the chile releno that really surprised me. It came out in a baking dish and was a poblano pepper covered in the batter and layered over the beef and cheese mix. Very unique in my experience and a nice presentation. And tasty. I'm hoping that I will get to go back there before I return to Seattle and I'll definitely go back the next time I'm in Covington. read more
