This is THE SPOT. We have had a lot of good memories here and even served the food at our wedding--they were amazing about it all. But let's be real: the TOP SHELF MARGARITA is the REASON. When nothing else in life is right, the margarita is. Food is just as savory as the atmosphere. Every platter we've ordered comes out just as hot & delicious as our last. The cheese always being melty, the guacamole & sour cream always fresh, & never once had a problem with the flavor or quality of the food. Price is also good for as delicious as everything is. Our entrees are brought to our tables reasonably quickly, even during the restaurant's busier hours. We decided to go to El Charro based on the ratings. Upon arriving, they seated us promptly as it was past the dinner rush. We were given chips with salsa and complimentary guacamole. As a previous reviewer stated the salsa was not very spicy. That's fine for me because I like it that way. :) The food came out about 20 minutes later and my burrito I ordered was a decent size. It wasn't as hot as I would have liked. I did get lettuce, sour cream, and cheese that came with the meal; that was good! Overall, I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. They are pretty average with friendly staff. The warmth of the food could be improved. The menu made me laugh a since it's a bit torn up :) read more

Good local Mexican restaurant tucked away from main street in Lebanon. The venue was clean and the staff was friendly though no one was wearing a mask. We stopped in for lunch and got the burrito with rice bean dish from the lunch menu, price was great - under $8. I am not why some Mexican restaurants don't give you an option for steak and only offer ground beef which is never my first choice, but that was the case here. While it was a tasty meal, good beans and rice, the ground beef didn't taste like it had any seasoning. Another pet peeve of mine are the chips. The ones I got tasted like they were fried in old oil. For me, this place is just average. Not bad, but not great. read more

Wasn't authentic Mexican food. The queso was watery and tasted like it was warmed up in the microwave. I it says it's 4 stars but I wouldn't recommend it. They told us that they base their food off of their clientele ( the people in the area) if you're going to open a Mexican restaurant then serve authentic food and don't make it half ass. My husband ordered the al pastor burrito and a Chile releno the Al pastor burrito meat was not tender at all and very crunchy as if I was premade or over cooked. The sauce was not flavorful at all and just tasted like left over reheated tomato sauce. The Chile releno was covered in a thicker red sauce wand just looked like it was put in the microwave and sent out there was no real cheese in the middle just some queso sauce. We were also told that the workers don't even eat the food they serve cause they know it's not made right or with thought to the customer's enjoyment at all. read more

Excellent. Met a friend there because it was between Ft. Leonard Wood and Springfield. It looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. Inside we were given terrific service and excellent food. Not sure how the rating are so high, horchata is weird, like a film in my mouth and no cinnamon. Chips took a while to get out, they don't have spicy salsa. The house salsa is decent. I usually order in Spanish but I wasn't able to do that here, kinda disappointing but nothing has been authentic from my experience. Food was decent, not a large portion but my food came out correct. This place looked super sketchy from the outside--like a drug deal about to go south. But we were in the mood for Mexican so we figured we give it a shot. Walked in thirty minutes before they closed. Good. Nothing special. Same menu and taste of most Tex-Mex restaurants in this area. (identical to el Jimedor, El Maguey, and La Maya...probably others, most likely owned by the same company). Real Tex-Mex is better in Texas though. But for up here it's ok. read more

Far and away my favorite Mexican food in Lebanon. Not dirty but not pristine, typical SW Missouri Mexican atmosphere. Solid Margs. Probably the friendliest people in all of Lebanon make up the staff. Constantly smiling and incredibly fast. Great for takeout. I would suggest the Jalisco Special (Chicken, Beef, and Shrimp fajitas on a bed of cheesy rice and veggies) or the Monterrey Deluxe (Chicken, rice, and cheese sauce in a feathery light chip bowl.) read more
