We were in town for one night & my husband was tasting for Mexican, so I hopped on Yelp to track down something yummy and that's exactly what we found here! We were sold when the reviews indicated customers specifically mentioned the mole and margaritas! Fantastic server promptly set us up with skinny margaritas on the rocks then we ordered our favs, chicken mole for him and shrimp tacos for me. Both were fantastic!! My shrimp tacos were so good, the shrimp actually tasted like it was fresh from the sea! So much flavor! With sautéed onions, a great combo! Good Mexican food but not great. Service is friendly but unattentive. Only two servers. Had to ask for refills and chips when clearly our glasses and basket were empty and at the edge of the table and the servers don't make eye contact with us so we can flag them down. Kitchen service was slow considering it was lunch time and the restaurant was less than half full. The service was wonderful! All the people there were kind and attentive. We were catching up, so we chatted for a while before ordering. The server brought us chips, salsa, and drinks and gave us plenty of time to look at the menu. We were all hungry, so we decided to share the Molcajete dish. I got my to-go order home, opened it immediately, and the taquitos were completely ruined. They had piled guacamole, lettuce, sour cream, and red sauce on top so instead of being crispy, they were gelatinous, slimy, and soaking wet. That might work for a dine-in plate, but for a to-go order it makes zero sense. By the time I opened it, the food was inedible. My husband did order it A la carte to try and avoid this exact situation. At the very least considering it was a to go order they should be more mindful of how things keep in a hot foil wrapped plate. I called to address it, and the employee was incredibly unhelpful. They kept insisting on speaking to my husband, even though I paid for the food and I'm the one calling. That was frustrating and completely inappropriate. At the end of the day, I paid for food that was prepared in a way that didn't withstand travel(mind you it's only 5 minutes from my home)and couldn't even be eaten, and the customer service made the situation worse instead of trying to fix it. I ordered the Carne Asada, no beans, no rice, no tortillas, added avocado, guacamole, and sour cream. My husband had Molcajete Charro, no beans, rice or tortillas, had a side salad instead. The meals were great but not over the top spectacular. With our alterations to the meals, I expected less, but received more! So on that note, I appreciate that they go out of their way to be sure your meal is prepared very well. Nice accommodations, and very accommodating staff. The food was really hot and flavorful, with the right amount as a portion. The margarita was strong. Including tip, I paid $45 which I felt was a bit much. Hopefully this is the same business listed on the grants Pass growers market website. They had a crowd all morning!! Between breakfast items and regular tacos and burritos, the food smelled and tasted amazing. Walking the growers market we decided to grab breakfast burritos from the El charro food truck but ended up with ordering carne asada tacos. They have a regular which comes with guacamole onions and cilantro or a mini that has no guacamole. AMAZING. Hours later we are still talking about the tacos. I've been going to the west side location in the Albertson's strip mall for a few years and have introduced many friends and family. The service is excellent and the food is so authentic I always eat too much. My favorite is the chili relleno dinner although the tostadas are excellent and my granddaughter said the Birra tacos are off the charts. Reminds me of the first Mexican restaurant I went to as a child, terrific family atmosphere and you'll never go away empty. Good value re: prices + experience. read more

It's time I updated this place to 5 stars. We lived in Grants Pass for 4 years and this was one of our go to Mexican places to eat. When we came back into town for business yesterday we came here for dinner, and all I can say is wow, did they hire a new cook? The food last night was absolutely outstanding! I ordered my recent favorite, the skirt steak combo with the chilli relleno, and I almost licked the plate clean! The relleno was super good, and all the flavors were so on point. A great little restaurant with lots of flavor. They give you chips, salsa, and a small amount of refried beans as a starter. All were yummy. The al pastor tacos were very good and the special enchiladas were some of the best. We would definitely eat here again. The portions were good and the prices are decent. Glad to see this spot open during Covid times. Covid rules are being followed at this business. There is plenty of parking. There is a rather large area to sit outside if you choose that is what you want. Oregon rules on Covid change quite often, we were super happy to hear that we could sit inside as it was rather windy the day we went out to eat. We looked over the extensive menu and decided on tacos and chili rellenos for lunch. My wife ordered chicken enchiladas and a Mexican Coke, she likes her Cokes made with pure sugar. I ordered a chili relleno a steak taco, rice and beans and flower tortillas. Less than 10 minutes later it came and the smell was great, fresh lettuce, fresh tomato, cheese, yum! I grew up in California with the best Mexican restaurants everywhere around me, and I've traveled all over the country and eat Mexican food all over. this is hands-down the best Mexican restaurant on the planet. So far very accommodating, got the chimichanga with chicken. Hubby got the lunch enchilada. But he got a phone call so I ate alone but it was important. So I don't mind. Cost for lunch was very reasonable. My chimichanga was a bit salty and the beans was salty but not too salty, just salty for me. Idk if hubs liked his bc he just got one bite and we had to leave. But I would go back and I recommend you try it too. The place is clean, from what I could tell, but some of the paint on the wall was pealing but that's an easy fix.
