[[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside it's absolutely beautiful and new, totally remodeled compared to how it used to look with the previous owner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu looks the same as the original restaurant over neer Allen Creek. I ordered the combo dinner of chili relleno plus beef crispy taco. It was delicious! The chips are served warm with an outstanding salsa. Service was friendly. This is hands down the best Mexican food in Grants Pass. We are from San Diego and are super picky about our Mexican food. The food here is delicious, every single item we have tried. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service is exceptional and the restaurant is spotless including the bathrooms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They keep the place very clean. We absolutely love this place. The chips come out fresh and warm, the salsa and bean dip and very good and appreciated. The shredded chicken is seasoned well. My husband loved the carne asada and the carnitas burrito. We were the first customers of the evening on a Thursday! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff greeted us warmly and we asked to please sit outdoors where everything looked very clean![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nonetheless the lady brought a rag in case our table was dusty (it wasn't)! My wife and I really enjoyed having another version of charro Viejo nearby. We would eat here about once week until last night. My wife was undecided on her meal so she asked if she could have a number 10 combo with the Roman Taco instead of a crispy taco. For context, menu price for crispy taco is 4.99 menu price for Roman Taco is $5.25. So I tell the waitress "it's ok to charge the extra $.25". About five minutes late the waitress comes back and says the kitchen said there is an upcharge, which from what I could understand was in line with what I mentioned earlier. Long story short, my wife got one enchilada and one Roman Taco. Normal combo price + full price $5.25 for the Roman Taco. I explain to the waitress that's not what was discussed and that's blatantly ripping off and abusing customers. She then laughed and came to with this wonderful excuse "well if you want carne asada on a crispy taco it's $3 more" I immediately interrupt her and remind her that a Roman Taco already has carne asada for $5.25. So the wait staff and kitchen are lying thieves. $0 tip and unless the owner would like to chat about this experience and the fact they charge for more chips or salsa now this place can pound sand and I'll be sure I send my family and friends to the better, slightly further Establishment. read more

Ate here late afternoon. Walked in and was greeted very nicely by the staff. Ordered the Super Nachos ($12.95). They came out very hot and were a nice portion with lots of cheese and carnitas. I've been all over California from southern to northern... in Florida as well... here in Grants Pass are the BEST carne Asada fries EVER!!! Their atmosphere and service is very hospitable and friendly! They have various salsas to flavor your food, but trust me, they are NOT necessary, the food stands on its own! The interior has been nicely renovated, and accommodates indoor & outdoor seating as well as takeout. My wife and I gave it a try today, and were glad we did. The lady taking our order was extremely nice, and we got our to go order quick. I had their Super Burrito with carne asada, and it was both big & awesome. My wife had a Breakfast Burrito with Machaca, and had a hard time putting it down because it was so good!! The next time we go we will eat our meal there in the nice Mexican atmosphere they provide. read more

We used to go there when it was El Patron. The food was always good. Just went there for lunch today and it was fantastic. The remodel has given the palace a new fresh look and the food was wonderful. This is a Grants Pass gem. I highly recommend it, we will go there again for sure! read more
