3 tacos: Lengua, Chorizo, and Carne Asada
    Shin C.

There's no pricing anywhere! It's hard to know what you will be charged as the prices seem to fluctuate. I asked them how much Lengua was and was charged a higher price than I was told. Definitely misleading... The food was fine and I appreciated being able to add my own toppings and sauce but the price deception left a bitter taste to my meal. I wasn't the only one there who felt skimped on as an argument broke out at the food truck over the same issue but for another dish. Anyway, bring your own water. Seating was plentiful in the afternoon.

$16.00 DoorDash charge, but charged $18 in person, for the same item.

No set pricing for the menu. I ordered a fish & shrimp burrito on DoorDash it was $16.00, ordered in person and it was $18. I told the guy, as well as showed him what I paid previously. He brushed it off as if it was nothing. I do believe they have pricing issues by not including all prices for items on the menu. Potentially should take the time to price out everything. Versus up charging people when they feel like it. This was also no DoorDash promotion, it was their price. The fish & Shrimp burrito is good but.. I'll take my business elsewhere where, I am charged a set price each time. Less on DoorDash but more in person is absolutely insane. No accommodation is even worst. Yes , I have a $20 for what I'm trying to eat but if it was $16 , keep it the same price for everyone, not just your own.

Randomly pulling over when you spot a taco truck and the tacos are DELICIOUS (drooling with happiness). Was just riding around with friends when we saw this truck and I ordered the chicken and steak tacos. There were so many sauces to choose from that's the one red flag that I take accountability for forgetting to snap the photo. Customer service was as good as a food truck could get. They had an outdoor seating everyone which made sense as the lines were wrapped around the street. 20/10 I would recommend.

El Chiapas Taco Truck: Menu as of Aug 2025

Tried all their tacos and the best in my humble opinion is the Carne Asada which is why it is earning the 4 stars! We keep going back as oir taste buds desire when we are unable to go to our favorite far away location. El Chiapas is a short drive and a solid choice for $2 asada tacos served on fresh tortillas. Salsas are tasty and fresh healthy looking vegetables are available for self-serve. I do dislike prices not advertised but the menu uploaded shows some of their current prices.

It's hard to distinguish the plethora of taco trucks on Crenshaw from each other, but one stands out is el Chiapas. Located in the 7/11 gas/car wash lot, this food truck is a legit community staple. Their menu is large with your every day tacos, burritos, and the unique option of various mariscos and chilaquiles. Lots of protein options as well. If you have a specific craving then they likely have it. I choose a trio of tacos as my baseline and was pleasantly surprised. Tacos were tasty but nothing exceptional. There was a cold bar with various salsas and pickled veggies. The tacos were $6 for the 3... such a great price. The track truck also has shaded seating area and sits about 20 along a long table.

    Chicken burrito and Piná Water

Food was average price. Didn't taste great nor was it really bad. Our food was in fact very greasy. Service was slow. I noticed one of the employees exit the lunch drink, enter a parked sprinter van in the lot. Leave for about 5 mins then return containers of marinated meet. Being that it was 1230 in the morning, and almost all grocery stores are closed. I assume he went to someone's house to get extra meat ‍. The worst pineapple water I've ever had too! The churro guy left around 11pm. So we don't get a chance to try those. The corner was poppn, no issues. We will not be returning to this spot anytime soon

Mini beef tacos with verde sauce. Crab and octopus ceviche. Fresh pineapple juice. Eat it there at the common table. Ambiance!

Sunday is car wash day and what better thing to do afterwards than treat myself to El Chiapas. I had three mini-tacos, octopus and crab ceviche, and fresh pineapple juice from this very popular food truck. I've never seen this truck not have a line. Service was awesome. I had originally ordered a fish ceviche but they'd run out so they made me a totally delightful substitute. I ate it right there sitting at a common use table set up on the roadside smiling and talking to all the other people who were there. I just love the ambiance of community you get here if you take the time to slow down and feel the moment. Be sure to save room for hot and fresh churros or a banana from the stand next door.

    tacos de lengua and tripa
    Sara R.

my go to spot for tacos and tortas! i usually switch my order up and today i decided to go for their tacos de tripa and de lengua! there's almost always a line at night and throughout the weekend but because it was 2pm on a Wednesday, it was completely empty which i cannot complain about. staff were so fast and also so kind, they always have a smile on their face. both the tripa and lengua were packed with flavor and with the complimentary toppings they offer on the side (for free) it just makes it all much better! i love this spot and u love that it's so close to my house.

    Asada fries

I come here for their carne asada fries and their quesa birria tacos. The carne asada fries are a shareable portion with a good amount of avocado. I love adding some onions, cilantro, avocado green salsa, and some of the habanero sauce. Their quesatacos are delicious and even better with their consome. I've had their birria ramen and it was pretty good. Sometimes they can get a long line but the food still comes out pretty quickly.

My plate was loaded, the kind of generous, no‑nonsense serving that tells you they cook with heart, not shortcuts. Every bite had that strictly authentic, home‑style flavor that reminded me of family, childhood mornings, and my grandma throwing down in the kitchen. The spot itself is super casual, eat in or take out, nothing fancy, nothing trying too hard. But honestly, the food and the service are the only "decor" this place needs. We normally call ahead to order our food, and it'll take roughly 10 - 15 minutes. Service is always solid - the workers are friendly and helpful. We normally get the carne asada/pollo fries and they're awesome. Fries are cooked perfectly (I swear there was a period of time where they coated the fries and that wasn't it, but thankfully they stopped), comes with the usual toppings like guacamole, onions, cilantro, etc. They top it with a hefty amount of juicy meat - both carne asada and pollo options are solid. Recently though I've been straying from fries and getting different dishes like the chicken flautas, enchiladas, and mulitas. Chefs kiss for each one. The rice and beans + salsa combo are also flavorful and pair nicely with the entree.

The vibe is unfussy, the service is friendly in that "we got you, don't worry" way, and the food comes out fast enough to make your stomach feel seen. Man cause we were craving some Mexican food. The wet burrito was the star of my visit, big, saucy, and exactly the kind of comfort bomb you want from a spot like this. The red sauce had that perfect balance of savory and tangy, and the burrito itself was stuffed generously. Every bite was so good, so delicious! And the tacos.....Fire. The homemade tortillas make all the difference, soft, warm, and with that fresh‑masa aroma that tells you they didn't come from a plastic bag. No... no... no! They hold up beautifully to the fillings without falling apart, and they add this subtle sweetness that elevates everything. Chips and salsa were simple but solid. The chips had a good crunch, and the salsa tasted fresh, bright, and not overly blended, the kind you keep dipping into even when you tell yourself you're "saving room for the burrito." "Maybe we were just hungry..hungry huh?" The drinks were honestly refreshing as hell. True Mexican style if you're going to complete the meal....que no? The horchata was creamy without being heavy, with that cinnamon sweetness that makes you want to chug it.The agua de Jamaica was tart, floral, and ice‑cold, the kind of drink that instantly cools you down on a hot Gardena afternoon. Cocos Tacos is exactly what a neighborhood Mexican spot should be, casual, comforting, and consistent. If you're in Gardena and want homemade tortillas, a saucy wet burrito, and drinks that actually refresh you, this place deserves a stop.
