Service and food is top notch. Very authentic feel to this Mexican restaurant in Phoenix Oregon. Complementary chips, salsa and bean dip provided immediately. Strawberry margarita was tasty and served with fresh fruit pieces. They did not skimp on the tequila. Ordered fajitas salad with beef. I ate lunch here recently. It was pretty good. I had a burrito and a large margarita.

It not very busy, maybe 1 or 2 tables. I went in to order some nachos to go. I was told it would be ready in about 10 minutes. After 30 minutes someone asked if I was waiting for an order. Duh!, of course I am, I said in my head. But was courteous with my answer. Wouldn't you know in about 2 minutes out come my nachos. I knew this was going to be cold. And sure enough when I got home ( about a minute drive from the restaurant) sure enough stone cold. The flavor is horrible. This is usually my go to Mexican restaurant, but I'm going to have to rethink this. read more

Food could be better small serving not a good place if you want something to fill you up

I have been going to El Comal in Phoenix since they opened. I supported them all through the pandemic. I was going 2-3x a month. Now it's once every other month. The prices have been going up for the last year or so. I just went for the first time in the New Year and another New menu. Now mixed fajitas are 28.99!! And you get HALF the food! There was barely any beef, small amounts of chicken and shrimp. Rice and beans in a tiny bowl on the hot tray and sour cream and guacamole is just dumped directly onto the hot grill where it begins to melt down. All taking up the space that used to be for just the fajitas. If I hadn't had it a month ago, I would not have noticed the difference. They are charging way more and serving way less food. Time to find a place that isn't trying to rip everyone off, which nowadays is hard to find, but there are 15 Mexican restaurants/trucks within 3 miles of Talent and Phoenix so someone will catch on and start charging fair prices again and will make a good profit. My husband got the Pina Rellena and he's in heaven! Says it's better than anything he's had seafood-wise, including in South America, Mexico and Europe. It sure looks amazing too, but I didn't sample because I'm allergic to shellfish. My chicken tortilla soup "cup" was a lot larger than expected and wonderful with lots of chunks of avocado and chicken, and my asada taco was great! On a Tuesday night, the place was quiet and only had a few other patrons. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back to this place again when in the area! The server behind the bar, says she is just a waitress and doesn't know how to make a Amaretto Sour so I have to order something else! Her attitude was the worst and after years of visiting the restaurant, telling her I've ordered the same drink for months she just had attitude. I won't be back. We tried El Comal for the first time, looking for something new to try in Medford. I won't be going back. Firstly, there are soooooooo many Mexican food options in this valley and I've eaten at alot of them, I love Mexican food. The menu was quite overpriced. I paid $18 for an enchilada plate where I can go to many other places and get that for $13-15. Their prices are too high on the entire menu. They were dry and not very full of meat. Our server didn't bring our margaritas until our food came and I had to ask for them. She then blamed the bartender, even though it was sitting there at the bar the whole time. Good Mexican food. I ordered the Enchiladas Mexicana with chicken, which I thought was great with the exception that I had two bites where it tasted like a lot of salt was accidentally dropped in it. My husband ordered the street tacos: carnitas, asada, and campechanos. He said all were really good, but he thought the campechanos were the best of the three. Have been there twice. It's our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Had the torta with carnitas the first time and it was good but not enough meat. It was mostly bread. My boyfriend got the California burrito which he loved. It was really good he said but small. We went a second time to get the California burrito again. This time it was bigger I think cuz he asked the waiter if there was a bigger one. I got the steak fajitas plate and was very happy with it. The service there is great. I went there to catch up with some friends and as soon as we walked in we were welcomed. The waitress took us to the table and not later than 5 mins we had salsa, chips and beans to munch on. We ordered some margaritas which were really good and after that...every 2 min somebody came up asking if we were okay? Do we know what to order? After the 6th time, in less than 10 minutes, we placed our order. It was really good, but they kept coming every 2-4 min asking if we needed anything! We ordered dessert: fried ice cream and flan. The waitress came back saying that they didn't have flan (sooo sad), so we ordered churros instead. When the waitress came back the last time she told us that her boss kept sending her to ask if we needed something. She told her boss "they are talking, leave them alone!" The new remodel has taken place and El Comal is really looking fabulous. We have been here many times before, but now it's spacious and more booths added. The food continues to be outstanding ....the variety of sauces at the sauce bar are mesmerizing and delicious. Tonight I had carnitas ....delightfully tender and flavorful a must try, and guess what? We tried this out on a whim. My husband had a child relleno and taco and I had an enchilada and taco. The tacos were both phenomenal. The homemade corn tortillas are super delicious!! The tamale was fantastic as well. The best part was the green sauce on the tamale. So good! It had a nice strong lime flavor which I love! My restaurant picking skills let me down here. I was looking for awesome Mexican food for takeout. This place was more of an upscale Chevy's atmosphere. I'm sure the bar is great (I didn't order anything), and they had tons of TVs showing football games. But I didn't want that, I wanted a killer burrito, and this did not deliver. The burrito was very meh, and, worse, it was priced at $14. Ridiculous for a burrito. They took 30+ minutes to make it too which was annoying (but that's not why the lower rating). This was about as in-authentic whitewashed Mexican food as I've had. I suppose I wanted to slam a pitcher of margaritas with a couple friends and watch a game, this place would be fun. We visited again tonight and once again it was delicious. I ordered carne asada and mike got a Torta. This was a really good meal. The restaurant is close to home and will fast become a favorite. The folks working here are super nice. They remembered us from our last visit. It makes me feel good when you walk into an establishment and they say welcome back and genuinely mean it. We had enchiladas and Arroz con pollo on our last visit. We will be back again for this menu. It is more authentic than the new restaurant taking Si Casas place up the street. Filled with loads of meat (your choice). 13.95 After ordering it didn't seem like more than 10 minutes before I got my food. Since then I have ordered take out, hamburger nachos. 9.95 I didn't eat them until they were already cold, pleasantly surprised that they were not at all greasy. My sensitive stomach has not complained one bit. Out of curiosity I ordered a child's enchilada, there is plenty there for a child or a senior! for 5.95 one enchilada meat of choice, rice, beans.
