We stopped by El Molcajete on a Sunday night. The restaurant is easy to find and has adequate parking. The restaurant itself is vibrant and has an expected vibe for a Mexican restaurant. The staff were polite and promptly seated us. We were served chips, refried beans, and salsa. The refried beans were excellent, but the salsa was lacking flavor. We ordered Enchiladas Suizas and chicken flautas. The portions were massive. We enjoyed the rice and the refried beans. The enchiladas were excellent and you could taste fresh cilantro. The flautas were crisp and delicious! We highly recommend El Molcajete. read more

This place is great!! The decor is fun Mexican motif with bright colors. The service is exactly how I like it. People seem to turn up when needed but otherwise are not bothering the party. The food is what will bring me back. I love the bean dip salsa and chips. I had the fajita for lunch and there was no way to eat it all. Lots of guacamole cheese, sour cream and pico. The staff are great, large portions, and convenient--which is why it's usually busy. If you're looking for stand fare texmex, this is a great place. Quantity over quality IMO. Be advised however that the bar tequila is Jose Cuervo (which is a chemically derived, fake tequila)--and to expect granny drinks, lots of corn syrup because it's cheap--IF you order a margarita with real tequila, make sure that's what they pour, and that they don't short change or overcharge. read more

Came in after hours of travel and was greeted with amazing customer service and attention to our table. We had 4 meals that were huge portions and paid only $68! It was flavorful and delicious!! I should disclose that I am a native Californian who has lived in Southern California for over half my life, so my standard for Mexican food may be a bit out of alignment for Southern Oregon. I have a friend who lives nearby El Molcajete, so we have dined here a few times. I was here last week, and things have remained pretty much as I remembered them. The service is top notch, the place is clean, the decor is a bit gaudy for my liking. But hey, I came to eat not go to an art museum. The one thing that stands out about this place is the portion sizes, easily enough for two people if not four in some cases. Disappointing experience @ El Molcajete in Medford, OR. I have enjoyed many lunch meals here and this time I was excited for dinner. Unfortunately, it was such a bad experience that I won't be back. We arrived around 8 pm on a Wednesday, were seated promptly, then waited almost 20 minutes for someone to take our order while many other employees walked by and opted to do closing tasks instead of acknowledging us. They don't close until 9:30 and more patrons decided to show up after us... We waited such a long time for our food... and the music was so loud and awful. When we were finally served our meals, the spinach enchiladas were good, but the carnitas were not carnitas... they decided to just serve some meat drenched in sauce and pass them off as carnitas. I was expecting better service and at least food that we ordered. We won't be back. read more

During a road trip, we decided to take a meal break in Medford, OR. Right off the freeway all you'll find is your your typical fast food joints so after searching Yelp, we decided to check out El Molcajete Grill. The place was lively with a lot of customers. Decor was bright and colorful. We ordered the "Trio Fajita for two". When the order arrived, the first thing we noticed was the portions are huge here. This dish could easily feed 4 or 5 people. It comes with a plate of rice and refried beans, another plate of cheese, sour cream, guacamole and salsa, and tortillas. Everything was prepared authentically and tasted great. Once you get your table, that server is making sure you're enjoying yourself, and not in an annoying way. They respect the disdistance, and have other stuff to do.
