I love taking items into the El Con Cobbler. They do a fantastic job replacing pieces of the bottoms of high heels that have broken off vintage shoes and glueing parts back together for me. I've also had them replace zippers on vintage bags for me as well! They are a cash only shop, which I completely understand! I'm sure this helps reduce costs as credit card fees have skyrocketed. If you don't hear from them after the estimated time I would recommend giving them a call to check on your items or stopping in because they are a high volume shop! read more

I brought over a pair of Coach wingtips that developed some separation of the soles under the toe box area. At first the owner (pictured) grabbed an invoice pad to begin writing up my order. I apparently then made the giant mistake of indicating I had found him on Yelp after an east side cobbler had closed at the end of Dec 2025. Out of sheer curiosity I asked him if he might be gluing them and how much it would run. He then put away the receipt pad and went on a (not-yelling) but diatribe about how I know everything and can do this repair myself. I was really dumbfounded (as was the guy behind me who simply shrugged). I assured the cobbler I had no clue what to do and would really like to have him fix these. He refused. I have no idea what part of my encounter set him off but, word-of-warning, don't say whatever I did I guess! read more

These people have had my boots for 6 weeks with zero update. I would love to attach photos of their work, but they have yet to do any. My partner has gone physically into the store twice to find that they have made no progress in repairing the zippers, and the first time he went, the employee at the shop couldn't find the boots - which are about two feet tall, and blue - at all. They do not answer their phone, and they do not honor their word when they say they will call back later. This is deeply unprofessional, and I will never trust them with a pair of shoes again after this experience. Update: I just looked at the boots for the first time in a bit, and I discovered that the zipper pull was taken off one of the boots. The boots have fancy branded pulls, and they took one off the shoe and did not return it when they gave my partner the boots back. This shoe repair business is the third one I visited today. The other two shops are out of business which I will note on their Yelp profiles. I drove over an hour to get to this one. My first impression was horrible. There must be thousands of pairs of shoes there. Why are they there and not fixed and back with customers? I wanted to get a less slippery sole on vans and have the width of my boots stretched. I didn't like the material he was going to use on the used vans and certainly not for $40 so I took them back. He said $10 for the boot stretching but I just didn't feel confident with the shop. I left the boots but went and picked them up 30 minutes later unstretched. These guys messed up an heirloom leather belt. I inherited a western belt from my deceased dad and asked them to simply stamp our family name upon the blank name-space on the belt. That was the worst experience. I brought two pairs of shoes in both for heel taps. They lost one pair and had me rummage through their shop to find them and when I did the heel taps weren't done yet (3 days after they told me they'd be done). The red dust bag for them was shoved in a different shelf. The other pair was done but the insoles were separated and loose (which they weren't when I dropped them off) so he glued them but not well as they were still not attached then kindly said they wouldn't charge me for the glue While I was in there, another woman came in who had brought one shoe into them a couple months ago which they lost so she brought the other one in so they knew what they were looking for and they lost that one too. No apology and I was met with rolled eyes and huffs as I asked for them to complete the heel taps while I was there so I didn't have to come back (and potentially have my shoes lost forever) Save yourself and find a different cobbler. read more

Small shop that does an absolute ton of Cobbling, located in Tucson. Went in to have a few breather holes installed in my work boots to reduce the temperature. Unfortunately, they do not have modern Cobbling equipment, but attempted to at least punch a few holes in through the inside portion of the lower arch area to provide heat relief, but again, no modern tooling to install ported rivets. What's great about this place is they decided not to charge, which I appreciated because when I dropped the boots off, they communicated no issue with the request, nor that they couldn't do it. So, with a few holes inserted, no charge and super fast service, I'd definitely put them on my contact list for other repairs. The gentlemen who works the counter was incredibly courteous and apologized that they couldn't accompany the request. I appreciate the honesty! Will be back and would recommend this business on at least being honest - though I would've certainly liked to know before hand, as anybody would. I had the worst experience at El Con Shoe Repair. I do not recommend supporting this business ever again. I came to pickup a pair of suede Sam Eldemam boots I needed to have retapped. I came into the store and provided my ticket to the owner of the shop; however he was unable to find the boots. He asked me to follow him to the back to help him look for them and I found one of the boots literally thrown under other shoes on a dirty table full other shoes thrown on the table. I calmly said to the owner, "I didn't expect my $200 boots to be thrown around and not taken cared of.". The owner became upset and said to me, "do you think you are rich or something, what's the big deal." Then two other customers came in and he switched his personality and greeted them nicely, retrieved their shoes and checked them out. After that he continued to treat him in an angry way. So, he said to me, "so what do you want to do then " and I said "I'd like my boots (even though they were dusty and not finished)". Then one of the staff came and said that he would finish my boots and I could wait or come back to pick them up once they were dry. Due to how I was treated in a very disrespectful manner, I will never support this business again and I encourage others not too as well. read more

They had my boots for over six weeks lost my boots. It took well over four hours to find them playing phone tag. When I go to get them when they said they'd be ready six weeks later, they were not ready and one pair was done incorrectly they put the wrong bottoms on them. They were supposed to be leather, not rubber. The gentleman upfront does not really communicate to the gentleman in the back doing the labor, but the gentleman in the back gladly found my shoes and fixed them correctly. When I came and picked them up today, I originally was quoted $75. Mind you I didn't want to pay this much after everything that's happened. When I did pay the gentleman tried to quote me $30 more than I was told. After picking up a random ticket off the counter from the prior customer. The quality is done well from the looks of it. this business might be good for men who want work boots or low end cowboy boots but WOMEN stay away. they ruin a +$300.00 pair of boots, when I spoke w owner (pictured) he apologized told me "thats not the type of business they r & to buy new pair & bring in receipt". He acknowledged their error & took ownershipof the damaged boots offering reimburse me after i bring in the receipt. So I felt comfortable leaving my $800 ostrich purse, there for a minor tweak. When I went to picked up purse, I had receipt for replacement boots. When I saw my purse, i was devastated... so upset didnt even turn in my receipt for the boots. I went to get heels replaced on a pair of mens dance shoes. Pretty standard and easy job The first time the work was done they replaced the heels that were 1/2 inch wish ones that were over 3/4 inches. I had to go back and they said ok we'll fix it. Having just got my shoes back they did lower them but put on a hard plastic cap instead of soft rubber which I requested but more importantly, the heels are slightly different heights. I know it sounds nitpicky but I noticed it while walking then measured and found the heels are 1/16th different height. I called the guy and he said we must have different tape measures ‍ The people here were nice but this is by far the sloppiest quality work I've ever had done in 15 years of getting shoes repaired at cobblers.
