This restaurant is located in the Royal Islander Hotel. They serve what would best be described as international cuisine--a little bit of everything. They have some interesting dishes (like mussels Rockefeller). The food is ok and so is the service. If you're staying at the hotel, it might be a good option if you don't feel like going out to dinner, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

The food was delicious and our server Angel was great. He was very personable and provided outstanding service. My partner and I had such a great experience here this past summer. It has been a while since our trip so I don't remember exactly what we ate, but I've continuously thought about our memorable experience. We had table side Caesar salad as well as banana flambé. I hope with the end of the Royal Islander coming up that this restaurant will remain part of the Royal Resorts.

We've been coming to Cancun for over 20 years. Sometimes we go to outside restaurants and other times we purchase the all inclusive and stay within our resort options. There is no reason to visit other restaurants when you have the most elegant, outstanding and fine French cuisine and the friendly, impeccable service at the El Conquistador at the Royal Islander Resort. We've been there many times and the entire wait staff and food are outstanding. You are greeted by Victor with a big friendly smile and Alejandro, our waiter, remembered us from the year before. Everyone is very personable, it truly feels like family. We ate at the El conquistador 4 times during our 2 week visit. Everything was delicious. I must also mention that there is music several evenings during the week. We were entertained and enjoyed a violinist, a saxophonist and the outstanding music played by Jorge Duran on his guitar. And then, just as you leave, they thank you for coming and they are sincerely grateful that you patronized their establishment. This is by far the best restaurant in all of Cancun. It saddens me that this is the Royal Islander's last year and once it is closed the future of the El Conquistador is unknown at this time. I'm hoping that they will move up to the Royal Sands. Thank you for being a part of making memorable moments with us.

FOOD: Very well plated, great taste. We had the house steak, rack of lamb, shrimp which were all delicious. SERVICE: Very nice staff, appropriate pace despite how busy it was. Were not pushy when we were sitting around at the end. EXP: Dark decor, nothing that will blow your socks off. Located in the Royal Islander. VALUE: Slightly more expensive than the other resort restaurants but well worth it. Average dish 300-500 pesos. Mixed drinks were 110 pesos and had appropriate alcohol. SUM: Would definitely come back, excellent value and experience for those staying at the Royal Resorts.

Chateaubriand: 16 oz. beef fillet cooked to order and served with béarnaise and bordelaise sauce at El Conquistador in Cancun.

Looking for a restaurant in Cancun that offers true fine dining? One that exhibits dishes that are tempting, exciting and presented in a truly unique way? Then the El Conquistador restaurant is a high end but intimate steakhouse that resides in the Royal Islander Hotel may just be the place for you as you travel through Cancun. It is located where their three restaurants converge right off of their pool area. Although we stayed at the Royal Caribbean Hotel next door, since they were sister hotels we were able to get reservations through our hotel concierge. I was worried be issues over the fact that they apparently have a dress code and I didn't have the right clothes for a formal dinner, but after checking with the manager, he was nice enough to let us in anyway. (They're very lenient as a dining companion also wore shorts to dinner!) Inside the dining room is very romantic, as it is dimly lit with a hint of light from their fire lit walls. The food is rather seafood inspired with a hint of a traditional steakhouse, so American tourists staying nearby would be well served to dine here at least one night. Our server's at El Conquistador was Angel and when we asked him which of the tempting dishes he recommended we try, he suggested the mussels and the mushrooms but we went with the Fruits de Mer Citrus Ceviche which came with a plethora of seafood choices including mahi-mahi, shrimp, mango and lime topped with provencal seasoning and a citrus-mint vinaigrette and the nicely plated Oyster Rockefeller to start off and both dishes were perfect way to begin our meal with a little seafood delight. There were a lot of strong choices for dinner, from duck confit enchiladas to filet mignon, after much thought I went with the Steak Diane Medallions which were sautéed with mushrooms and onions and served with Cabernet Sauvignon sauce. The fun part of the dish was that was prepared for you right at your table cooked to perfection from our server Angel. It was flavorful and well seasoned on top of being fun to watch. We has a great meal sitting at the round table in the corner of the restaurant catching up and enjoying our meal, which is what our vacation is supposed to be all about. For dessert, we got the Flambéed Bananas which was a real show an treat as it was flambeed with a rind of an orange topped with liquor. The El Conquistador restaurant was the best meal we had in Cancun hands down, not only was the food really high-end but at an affordable price point but the ambiance was romantic and sexy and that's hard to pull off at an all-inclusive resort. El Conquistador is the restaurant that will be on my to return to list whenever I'm lucky enough to visit Cancun again.

Our waiter Darwin was awesome tonight. He prepared our Steak Diane to perfection for us.

Delicious seafood stuffed portobello. Definitely recommended.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Expectations weren't high because this was another resort all inclusive, but the food was delicious and the atmosphere wonderful with live music! For appetizer, I had the seafood stuffed portobello mushroom. Every bite was filled with flavorful, seafood goodness that was in a mouthwatering sauce. Next up was the lobster bisque. The taste of lobster was strong, but in my opinion the soup was too salty and thick. After soup, waiters brought us lime sorbet to cleanse our palates which was great. My entree was the seafood stuffed fish. Again, everything was seasoned nicely. The fish was tender and paired with another yummy sauce. I expected to end the night with a great dessert, but it was not on par with the rest of my food. I ordered the flan and it tasted strange. Sadly, there was a strong alcohol/coffee flavor that overwhelmed the dessert. Overall, props to this restaurant. Presentation of the food was beautiful and the taste itself was definitely head and shoulders above the other I tried at the resort.

This high end restaurant is a MUST!!! The food is excellent, the service if outstanding, the ambiance is wonderful, the live music is romantic and subtle. Great place for any special occasion! Jose-the musician was phenomenal!! Wilberth-the waiter was very knowledgable!! Would definitely return!!

A fine dining experience at the Royal Islander.

This is a very nice restaurant on the property of the Royale Islander. The food is excellent and they have a short wine list to compliment the menu. The service is also very good and they are wishing to get good reviews. #royalresorts #royalislander #rivieramaya

A great meal, my wife "Diane" and I enjoyed our 2nd Anniversary here. The Chateaubriand was outstanding, and the stuffed portobello mushroom was delicious!! The staff was so kind and courteous, made our Anniversary a day to remember always!!

It's not that expensive but the presentation, the service and the taste is like a 5-star fine dining restaurant. Even the drinks! I ordered their clam chowder (you can see in the attached video on how they served it), lobster tail wrapped with bacon, my hubby ordered salad (which was also excellent presentation), and steak. Let's not forget the chips that is on the house with 3 different taste buds sauces... tamarind (sweet), avocado (salty) and chipotle (spicy). Love love love! I should say, your visit in Cancun is not complete without visiting this excellent restaurant!

Many of the dishes have strange ingredients that the regular gringo hasn't heard of, which makes this even more exotic! The dining area is split between a covered outside area, and seating on the grass overlooking the lagoon. Be careful, there's alligators in there! The service was fantastic- the waiter was patient, spoke English, and made excellent recommendations. I got fish with peppers, octopus ceviche, and some mezcal, followed by a honey and anise Mayan drink. All of which were delicious! My dining companion had a strange pepper with some fish- also nom! Coming here was like a history cuisine lesson, mixed with delicious food, wonderful scenery and a pleasant meal! My favorite part of this place is the artwork when you come in. Once we stepped onto the deck overlooking the lagoon, the whole experience elevated even further. The scenery was stunning, soft lights reflecting off the water, a gentle breeze, and live music drifting through the air like the perfect soundtrack to an already unforgettable night. Then came the food, each dish was its own little masterpiece. The bread service alone set the tone: warm, golden rolls with just the right touch off salt. The wedge salad followed. It was crisp, cold, and generously dressed, with smoky bacon and bright tomatoes adding all the right contrasts. The dry-aged steak was the star of the table, cooked perfectly with that deep, rich flavor only dry-aging can create. The roasted peppers and silky sauce on the side made every bite feel intentional. The octopus was another standout, tender, beautifully charred, and plated with a vibrant puree that balanced the dish with a touch of sweetness. One of the best plates we had. The table got more entrees since there were 8 of us but didn't get pictures. Sea brass was another favorite. Even the lobster soup arrived with flair: a velvety bowl paired with a seafood-topped toast that brought texture and richness together in one elegant bite. The beef tartare with fries was classic and fresh, refined without losing its fun. Dessert turned into a full performance. The liquid-nitrogen ice cream came with swirling clouds of cold vapor, dramatic and delicious. The birthday cake arrived crowned with berries and a sparkling candle that lit up the whole table. And just when we thought the night couldn't get any more whimsical, out came the towering blue cotton candy, playful, over-the-top, and impossible not to smile at. Harry's doesn't just serve dinner. It creates an experience, one where the service, the scenery, the atmosphere, and the food all work together to make you feel celebrated. We came to Harry's a couple years back when we visited Cancun and I am celiac and I had a lovely dinner with my partner. On this visit, we were seated at a beautiful table and we ordered drinks. Our waiter, a bald headed young man 30s, refused to check with the kitchen to see if they could accommodate me. I am celiac not vegan. I was told there was nothing I could eat except steak and he proceeded to show us the entire steak selection. Truthfully I was feeling slightly unwell from not eating the entire day. I felt like fish, he said I can give you dry fish no sauce on top. He suggested maybe we just do appetizers. We had a 8 pm dinner reservation, what the hell would I want to order appetizers and call it day? This waiter was chit chatting with his maitre'd and other wait staff and I felt terribly uncomfortable that i was told I couldn't eat anything from the men, we we all know was ridiculous and not true. We finished our drinks and asked for the check. I made a reservation for Porfirios next door bc I could see they had some gluten free options. Harry's used to be accommodating but no longer. We will not come to Harry's again for food. Not only this, the waiter was trying to once again embarrass us by advising us that we could walk to Porfirios, next door to the restaurant from the back patio. We got up and began walking towards the patio and suddenly I realized he was totally making a fool of us, why would we go from the back if we have to check in with the hostess stand in the front of the restaurant? We walked straight out of Harry's from front door. Never again. So disrespectful and such a rude experience. Not only this, Harry's canceled/ removed our open table reservation (even though we fulfilled it and paid for our drinks and still tipped generously), so I cannot even leave a review and send a private message to the restaurant. Pathetic customer service.

Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly. The service was flashy but slow, and we followed the waiter's recommendations for both an appetizer and our entrees. He told my girlfriend her entrée didn't come with a side, so we ordered one. After several cocktails, her entrée arrived--but mine never did. I sat there watching her eat while I waited. When I asked the waiter where my meal was, he simply said, "it is not working." I then asked a manager for help, but he disappeared and never returned. The bill came with no apology, no explanation, no discount, and nothing complimentary. It was an awkward and uncomfortable way to end what was supposed to be a special evening. Mistakes happen, but what really bothered me was that there was no effort to acknowledge the problem or make it right. I do not recommend. Me quedé sentado viéndola comer mientras yo esperaba.
