Took my boys 7,8 yrs old for haircut. The little one got a haircut that wasn't good at all The 8 yrs old was scared w the loud noise machine was making and kept shrugging his shoulders, barber just trimmed around ears on one side n stopped cutting his hair n said he wasn't going to finish the job. They are supposed to be Experience barber after all theirs years of cutting hair?? He didn't even have a silent or low hand razor? So I went to pay n was charge $43 for both children one done n the other one didn't get his hair cut??? I was looking for an Experience barber that could have my business doing my kids cut. But no ever going back..... think it's just an old man barber shop . Not made for new clients or children. read more

The barbers are friendly and polite.....that's about it. The haircuts are below subpar. The cuts work great if you are mature and have that older gent hair, but younger folks...not so much. The back of my head is now crooked and I didn't see how bad it was until I got home and washed my hair out. The "hot towel shave" was a disappointment thru and thru. The barber that did my shave used a regular razor. Not even a drop in blade, but a regular razor. The "hot towel" portion was a total of maybe 10 seconds on my face with each towel. Also when you finish a shave, you should use cold water ......not hot water. I tried to like the place, but being polite and friendly isn't good enough for me. read more

Haircut was mediocre, with the sides lop-sided. But it was really the shave that was sub-par. Towel wasn't hot enough, so the whole process felt like pulling bandaids. Skipped the spot under the nose because he wasn't using a straight razor. Suggestion: don't let the guy who's hard of hearing answer the phone and schedule appointments. read more

For about two years I have tried every 5 star Yelp hair salon in Central Tucson. None of the cuts were well done and I was getting really frustrated. I know what a good cut looks and feels like. But no. Until today. Today I went to El Continental barber shop and got an excellent scissor cut from a gentleman named *Angel*. And he is. I asked for a scissor cut, no thinning scissors, no razor. My hair is short. Mostly salt but some pepper. I wanted a short feminine sheik look, the kind of look I might see a woman sporting in any world class city, and that's what I got! this was my 2nd visit with the same barber. The first cut was done with a razor at my request and was nice. Today I had a scissor cut and there are uneven hairs sticking out everywhere. I was surprised and let down today and now need to find a new-new barber. Met with Enrique, known as Henry, and had my first haircut. It was literally the best haircut I received since moving to Tucson. Henry took his time and scissor cut my hair. After thirty minutes, I looked sharp and ready to impress. The shop looked clean and neat and there isn't too much fuss inside with TVs and such. A lot of the barbers and clients were chatting about things and I think I saw one man who was watching the TV. There is ample parking in front of the store, along Speedway and it's pretty easy to find. If I could give El Continental Barbershop 10 stars I would!!! El Continental Barber shop is an institution in Tucson! I've been coming here for 14 years. They used to be at the El Con mall. The change in location did not cause any ruffles in the level of service. My barber during those 14 years is has been Mike. I can't say enough great things about him. I can just sit down and he knows exactly how I like my hair cut. Every so often I change my hair style to stay hip with the times and Mike never disappoints. When you come in you will be greeted at the front desk by a very pleasant lady named Sharon. She's a wonderful manicurist. Dale, the owner, is a fantastic barber and only hires professional, experienced barbers. I can say with great confidence that if Mike has a day off, I can still get a great haircut with any of the barbers. Angel, Henry and Mike are first class barbers with decades of experience. There's a nice new lady there too and I'm sure, with Dale's high standards, she's great as well. No matter the hair style or the gender of the customer, all the barbers do Men, Women and children's hair. If you want a neat, professional look to help you land that dream job or to look good for a special occasion, this is where you want to come and continue to come. These guys build relationships with their clients and really understand their needs. I haven't been coming here for over a decade for nothing. They take walk-ins but it's best to call ahead of time and make an appoint. Usually they can accommodate you the same day. I had the most wonderful experience, I walked in only waited a few minutes, explained what I wanted, had pleasant conversation, then received the best haircut I have ever had. Granted I did not get my hair cut here, my boyfriend did. I think next time I will opt to have a manicure while he gets a cut, since it did take a while, probably because it was the first time at this shop. The woman that cut his hair did a great job, my boyfriend's mother had been cutting his hair for years, and this is the best it has looked since we've been dating. Best Barber in Tucson. I'm a young guy but I'm extremely particular about my hair and like to keep it simple, and most hair stylists leave me unsatisfied. I've paid twice as much for a haircut than I have at El Con Barber, and El Con is not only twice as good, but will also spend twice as long working on my cut. There's so many great things about this shop, including the service, atmosphere, and cleanliness. I always request Dale since luckily he was available the first time I came in. Dale is the owner and has been cutting hair longer than I've been alive, he's a pleasure to talk to and you can tell he loves what he does. He takes his time cutting my hair where an ordinary barber would rush through, and you can see the difference in the results. The rest of the staff is great as well, I just like Dale because I can close my eyes and trust that I'll be happy when I open them, he nails it out of the park without me even telling him what to do. Yeah I know. I am just doing this for my hubby. But this counts to me anyway. He has been searching for a good haircut for the last 2 years. He's picky with his locks and so am I with his haircuts. He has amazingly great hair for a guy in his latter year of his 70's. You get it, next year will be a milestone. Anyhow, he would get one haircut and it satisfied him. Then after it became apparent in a few days, he just couldn't comb it. Very uneven. It's been a roller coaster ride to find the right guy or girl for that matter. He had a few barbers that were OK and then they disappeared from the shop they were in. When we first moved here 21 years ago he had gone to Dale when he was in the El Con mall. Somehow, he lost track and so did getting a good reliable cut. Finally, he went back to Dale and he repaired some of the damage of the last cut. I went in for a trim and instead of getting an experienced barber, which I expected based on their website, I was served by an inexperienced cutter who did a horrible job. She discussed with me how I wanted the trim, but she either did not have the skill to do it correctly or did not care. Though the owner of the shop was gracious enough to refund my payment, I will have to live with this really bad job for a few months until it grows out. read more

I only went in here once. I was more than dissapointed. I spent TWO HOURS in the chair to get a head shave and a beard trim, and then it cost me 35 bucks. From my experience that should take no more than half an hour and cost something around 13 dollars. On top of all that, it was a shoddy shave and he didn't even listen to how I wanted my beard trimmed, he just did whatever he wanted. Don't go here. read more
