Every time I've ever been to El Cubilete the food has been phenomenal. The wait may be a touch long at times, especially on Friday and Saturday nights (as is with just about any restaurant). A big bonus is the chips and salsa they have here before you get your food. They're so good you could make an entire meal out of them. We have been here multiple times when they were at the old location but this was our first time since they've relocated. It was terrible. We waited & no one sat us so we decided to sit at the bar, other people at the bar had to tell the server how to make their drinks (that we're on their menu), our food came separately and one of our meals didn't match the menu description. We never got refills, had to request our order twice as well as oUr check & boxes. Enough where multiple people were talking about waiting for the same things. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait. After about a half hour we were finally seated. This place has gone way way downhill since it moved from the Niagara Falls Blvd location. They once had Mexican servers. They once had an excellent salsa. The salsa was bland, no where near what it once was. The servers were terrible. People were seated in the booth behind us about 15 minutes after us. They were boxing their leftovers before we got our entrees. Our niece and her friends were at another table and they received their entrees one at a time, finishing the first delivered before the last couple were delivered! The rice on my plate was terrible; starchy, no flavor! Oh, our niece was drinking Strawberry Margaritas and the waitress brought out a pitcher of regular Margaritas and told them, sorry, the bartender made the wrong ones. She tried to get them to accept the one she brought over. AND the place is so loud you can't hear what the person next to you is saying. This was our second visit to this location. We once alternated between El Cubilete and La Gallera when they were both on the Boulevard, but now we'll just go to La Gallera and NOT return to El Cubilete! read more

The food is ok. We don't come often because every time we come our order is always messed up. We don't have a complicated order. We ask for chimichangas with out the lettuce or tomato and if they can make the tortilla crispy. It always comes back with all the lettuce and stuff on it and soggy! Why? And I've noticed it's been the same waitress each time so maybe she's not writing what we ordered clearly for the cooks. But when I go to the competitors restaurant down the road our order is always perfect. We will check out the grand opening of the new place but if we keep getting our order messed up then our business will be elsewhere. Sorry :( read more

Very nice patio with very good service. Nice umbrellas as well. Inside also socially distanced tables. Food disappointing. I got 2 tacos, meat was to fine and somewhat mushy. They had large peppers cooked in which I don't want on a taco. It had usual lettuce, tomato and choice of cheese. Sadly I couldn't pick them up as they were so soggy on the bottom, food fell out. Not sure if it was grease but I ate part of one and gave up. It came with rice and a side of refried beans which were good. Family had quesadillas and they were not very happy either. Prices are average and they offer complimentary chips and salsa while you wait. We ate there once or twice before and liked it better. A relative owns LaGalera on the Boulevard in a plaza on corner near Military Road and wow their food is spectacular with take out available. ElCublette is nearer our home and we wish they would focus on their food so they could get it right. Waitress was pleasant, and listened to our concerns but did not seem to be able to help us much. We were happy when they moved to new place and perhaps they have a new cook or a different selection would have been better. We probably won't give up as the other restaurant has no patio and that's important these days. They may need a different cook. read more

Happened upon this restaurant while passing through one evening in September. What an amazing gift to the senses. The flavors of all three dishes we had were wonderfully subtle and unique to authentic Mexican cuisine. And, yes, the portions are quite generous; but even without that abundance, it would have left a yearning to transplant El Cubilete to Georgia where we have an abundance of Mexican food choices ... this one is just a delight. read more

They no longer offer a large margarita. This was the first negative of the night. Then the waitress took forever to come back and take our order. Then someone else brought our entrees which were incomplete. Took another 5 mins before waitress came over, then another 7 mins before the entree was fixed. After finally getting out food, she failed to check back. After getting a box it took ten mins to get a check. Mind you the restaurant wasn't bust this entire time. This was my second visit in a week. I figured I'd give it a second chance as the first time the service was slow, the restaurant was busy, the server was nice but it certainly was not as bad as the second time. I will only concentrate on my second visit. We arrived and got seated right away. We wait over 20 minutes for the waitress to approach us for a drink order. The restaurant was not completely dead but wasn't extremely busy either. The wait to get the drinks was just as long. When we were served my friend and I received our draft beers but my other friend did not receive her glass of wine. Simple drinks right? She finally received her wine after repeatedly asking. We were waiting for another guest to arrive and when she did we waited for the waitress to come back and take the additional drink order. We probably waited another 20 minutes at which point my friend went and got the waitress to come and get the additional drink order. When the waitress came back we figured we better order our food as well. The wait for the final drink was extremely long as well. And again my friend went to find the waitress and see what was going on. The restaurant at this point was beginning to clear out. The wait for our food was very long which okay I would rather it come out and be fresh, hot and it was very good. The problem was when it did arrive I received my food first and then about 5-10 minutes later my other friends received their orders. As a prior waitress that is a definite no no. Everyone should get their food served at the same time. I waited for my friends to get their food before starting to eat. We then received our bill and it was extremely high we noticed that we had been charged twice for one of the entrees. We approached the waitress which we had to go and find her to advise. The "Manager" at that point came to our table and questioned us with regard to the bill she was extremely rude, unapologetic and very condescending. She told us that this time she would make the corrections and would not do it in the future. Like we should've paid for an entree we didn't order. We also advised that we were disappointed in the service and advised that this was not a good way to do business and she did not even care. We then said we would not be back and her response was good. In addition, the people in the booth next to us were also going to the bar to get their drinks as they were sick of waiting for the waitress to appear. Upon reading other reviews it seems to be a common practice for this restaurant to be charged more than what you should be paying or having errors on the bill. read more

Love the vibes- the authenticity just oozes out all around! When I went I was welcomed to the fresh, I believe, homemade chips and salsa. I still crave those on good days. The food I had was alright, I got the carne asada tacos, I've had better but still good. I went with my mother and to be honest I enjoyed picking out from her food more. She had the chicken chimichurri with a side of cheesy refried beans and yellow rice. So delicious! I couldn't stop picking at the yummy refried beans! I was hoping to get dessert too but was super full (mainly from the unlimited supply of chips and salsa). However, when I was eyeing the list, the dessert menu looked promising and not just catering to flan and ice cream. The restaurant had a nice family feel which I admire. Good Lunch menu. Went with friends from work and I had the #1 special, taco, 2 enchiladas and rice. Very good food and plenty of food for the price. The warm chips and salsa were great and when we asked for additional salsa, it was brought out in minutes. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel at home.
