This little Mexican spot came recommended by a friend of a friend, and we stopped here for dinner after visiting the caverns. We called ahead and warned them about our larger group, but they are definitely equipped for large groups. They had a good variety and the cocktails were strong. We didn't have reservations so we waited 10 min for a table on a Friday evening. I'm not sure if there was a language barrier but our waitress was rude and impatient when we were ordering. The food was okay. If you're not in the mood for Mexican food, they have pasta! read more

I'm just walking in and it smells great! Sunday evening and it's packed so a bit of a wait but we were greeted quickly. At the table we are served chips and salsa. Our food came nice and hot. Our drinks were refilled frequently. My husband had a combo enchiladas plate. He said the red sauce was a bit spicy but he enjoyed it. I had the fajitas. The meat was good and tender. It was pretty oily. My only complaint is it came with one tortilla. It's been a while since I ordered fajitas anywhere, but I don't recall ever getting just one tortilla. Maybe it was because we were there toward the end of service ? Not sure. I didn't ask. The guacamole was really good and fresh. It was A Sunday night and things seemed busy but not slammed. We walked in to get on a waiting list since there were a couple of families waiting ahead of us. We waiting for 20 min before even talking to a hostess. Then waiting another 20 for a table. Once seated, food service was very very slow. It took 25 minutes to get food for two people. At this point the food came out and was average. Definitely not worth the wait. read more

I have eaten here a few times stuff is awesome. I have had the steak , quesadillas, and fajitas. All spot on depending on what time you go food can take up to 30 min. Just enjoy the fresh salsa and queso. read more

We had a great meal at El Diamanté restaurant. We were visiting Carlsbad for the night and chose the restaurant because it was the only Mexican restaurant within walking distance of our bed and breakfast. Restaurant is clean and updated. Before our food came out- the manager (I believe) came out with a bowl full of carne asada strips in a green sauce. He said the chef made it special for us since we had to wait longer than expected for our food (which we didn't t feel like we had been waiting long alt all for). The green Carne was absolutely delicious. Our meal concluded when our server brought out 2 beautifully decorated scoops of toffee ice cream for our young boys who were thrilled to say the least. Service was good, but the food just wasn't too impressive to me. Beans were pretty meh, their rice was decent. Enchiladas were tough and kinda dry. It was the end of the night though so that may have affected it. Food all seemed spicy, but also a little spice less. Service was ok, Took 20 minutes for 3 drinks, Ordered a frozen margarita only to be served a one on the rocks with a grape fuit in it. fodd was nit the best for the price.
