This was a cute place with comfy booths, vibrant decor & bold fun colors. We were there for lunch during the work week & it wasn't very busy. Service was friendly, however slow. It took a while to get our food. It came out one dish at a time instead of the whole table. Also, there was a Convenience Fee added on of about 3% that we weren't aware of until the bill arrived. In addition, there was a small discount if you paid the bill with cash. Note, there was plenty of available parking. We started with Tortilla Chips & Salsa, which were good. The salsa was spicy hot & the chips were nice & crispy. The other dishes were a Chile Relleno, a Cheese Enchilada & a Ground Beef Taco. Unfortunately all were bland. The Chile Relleno was tough. Both the Relleno & the Enchilada were made with a cheese I didn't care for & they needed more sauce & more cheese. Perhaps this was a one off. My husband went to this establishment with his friend 2 weeks ago and had nice things to say about it. We decided to try it tonight for our date night and I got to say this place is amazing! The service was super fast and our waitress was amazing! I loved the vibe and the music that was in this restaurant. The salsa was homemade and great! And I usually hate salsa. When we were finished with our meal that came out super fast, the waitress asked if we wanted chips and salsa to go along with it to could it go container. One of the best Mexican restaurants in Raleigh/Garner in my opinion. The waiter was very attentive and arrived at our table before we could sit down. He took our order efficiently and was back in less than 5 mins with piping hot food. I ate my food so fast because it was just so good. I ordered beef enchiladas and a chicken quesadilla. From the moment we entered the place he was rushing us. The menu was big and we did not get enough time to order.he kept coming back every minute to ask us if we were ready. What first impressed me was the customer service followed by the impressive flavor of the dishes. As far as I am aware they do not have a way to order online. Therefore I called the restaurant and placed an order. The employee I talked to was clear, friendly, and thorough. She gave me a three digit number to use when picking up my order. When I arrived, I was greeted by the hostess. I relayed the number and she brought me my order and checked it for accuracy. This was much appreciated. Do not waste your money! This has to be the worst meal that I have ever had in the Triangle. Where do I start? I ordered fish tacos which were described as seasoned grilled fish with Mexican slaw, avocado, and pineapple sauce - what I got was cubes of bland fish slapped on a grill, placed in two large stone-cold flour tortillas, with a Dixie cup of shredded cabbage and carrots mixed with mayo (no seaanjng), a bowl of cheap mayo - just nasty, flavorless, and unappetizing. The pineapple sauce - canned pineapple pureed in a blender. My mother odered chicken quesadillas which came with a side of black beans that tasted as if they came straight from a can to the microwave, to the table, and so salty they were not edible. The Texas Margarita was decorated nicely but was watery. Never again will I come back to this restaurant. The service was poor. Our waitress had such a nasty attitude and I had the pleasure of warching two staffers at the front (next to our table) groping each other. This is the first time I have been here in a long time and the last time. This place has gone straight downhill. I posted pictures of this God-awful meal. Good food and good drinks! Started a new job recently and my coworkers raved about this place. It's less than 5 minutes from my new job so I decided to check it out. I've been about 3 times so far and will return again and again. This location is in a small shopping center-esque area near White Oak (right near the movie theater). Parking can be limited at busy times since it's right beside another popular restaurant, but it's still available just not right out front. The service has always been quick and great. Salsa is amazing as well as the food. The drinks are also great as well. Last time I went we ordered a pitcher of frozen margaritas which I usually shy away from because I always feel like frozen drinks get extremely watered down quickly, but that was not the case. It was strong, but good! There menu is fairly large, but I love the variety. I've had tacos and a salad so far and have been pleased. The portions are great and the food is definitely fresh. This is the second La Cocina restaurant I've been to (the first one being in Morrisville) and while both locations serve delicious emerald, this one is my preferred one because they have a live guitarist playing music! He was great and played lively tunes that filled the room with positive atmosphere which I really appreciated! Food wise I got the #23 combo with a beef burrito, rice, and chicken quesadilla. I came to the restaurant the week before during lunch with coworkers and we got really fast service with a great server and good food for a cheap price due to the lunch specials that were available until 3:00 pm. Since I was in the area again I decided to come back. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza with many other restaurants, a movie theater and other businesses. There is a large dining area with tables and booths inside of the business. Service was a little bit slower today with an empty restaurant compared to a super busy packed restaurant last week. Once we were seated our drink orders were taken and we were given chips and salsa. I ended up ordering the fried chimichanga with chicken which is served with beans and topped with guacamole, lettuce and sour cream. The chimichanga tasted like it could have been cooked a little bit longer because it was a little gummy. The beans and chips and salsa were ok. When I dined in last week I ordered the lunch special chicken chimichanga and it was served with beans and rice and only one chimichanga and was a little more than half the price and tasted way better. I am not sure if I would return to this restaurant but if I do it will definitely be during lunch time. read more
