They offer lunch prices/servings 7 days a week, so we got the enchiladas and the trio fajitas lunch portions - perfect amount of food and our bill was $22! Service was fast, great casual atmosphere and really good food. Side note - the salsa is a bit too spicy for me so I skip it. Plenty of parking in the dedicated lot. read more

A friend gave us a gift card so we came to treat ourselves to some yummy Mexican food. Their chips are the best. Table side guacamole is also worth it too. The restaurant needs some updating and TLC maintenance but I like the flare of the Spanish influence. The service was really good. read more

3 years later and we're still loving Tlaquepaque! The service is always friendly and quick, the margaritas are always flowing (as long as the credit card keeps swiping), and the food is always hot and delicious! Tlaquepaque is more on the Tex-Mex side, paired with alcohol, it's guaranteed to be a fun time out. We typically come in on Sundays mid-day. While everyone else is repenting for their sins, we're toasting to them (joking, joking). In all honesty, though, Tlaquepaque is our go-to for cheap food and good drinks. I love the Mangonada margarita. They have a chamoy candy stick in them and it's soooo good. My husband asks for hot salsa for our chips and if you like spicy, this salsa is so fresh and warm on the tongue. We've tried a little bit of everything here these past few years and here's what I've come to enjoy most: fresh guacamole, chile rellenos, tacos al pastor, and the flautas. read more

Fast lunch service; great attentive service; my quesadilla was very good. Nice atmosphere.

We came in on Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very busy but our service was pretty slow. It took a while for our waitress to stop by our table. We had eating almost a half basket of chips before our drink order was taken. We ordered two kids meals, chicken tacos, chicken flautas, and queso. The salsa has some spice and was good, the queso was good the kids enjoyed their meals. The pulled chicken in the flautas and tacos tasted pretty dry. I think the margarita flight flavors may have changed since the menu was made. We didn't see much of our server and she came and rushed to take plates away when people were still nibbling and talking. We ended up getting refills from someone else walking by since our waitress wasn't around. read more

Warm chips and house-made salsa served within seconds of seating. Margaritas are big and perfectly blended. Portions are big, ingredients are fresh. Since moving to Wake Forest I have been looking for my Go-To Mexican restaurant and I might just have found it! We went to Tlaquepaque on a Friday night and while it was busy there was no issue with being seated. You walk in, they are playing Spanish music and you automatically feel a sense of culture. We started off with a few mixed drinks a Cantarito & a Spicy Marg both which came out delicious and not to mention beautiful. We ordered fresh guacamole which is hand made in front of you at market price. I ordered the special of the evening the Birria Pizza and not only was it delicious but also stunning, Tlaquepaque doesn't skimp on presentation. Stopped in for lunch around 2:00 and order the steak fajitas and found the steak to be very tough and the fajita seasoning to be non-existent. Tomatoes and peppers and onions were the only flavor in the fajita mix. The only good thing there was the salsa and the chips. The rice was mediocre and the refried beans were very Bland. I've been here in the past and never had that experience. Won't be back. read more

To a New Yorker, this spot is subpart. The food was not bad but it wasn't mesmerizing. Nothing really to rave about or tell others. Here is the Deal, its clean, priced decently and great service. You ger tricked by the avocado on the table and then they take it away to be made.. what gives???? 5 adults and 2 children so you can understand the range of plates and food ordered. It's meh for us but if you are in the area and need ok food that will not kill your wallet nor make you sick.. TLDR: Flavorful, large entrees with efficient service. I don't think I have seen a restaurant so busy, yet so efficient before. Yes it was taco Tuesday so maybe that was why everyone was out. The tables were consistently full with several pushed together to accommodate large parties as more customers piled in. Nonetheless, the employees were somehow still bringing out dine-in and takeout orders accurately and in a reasonable amount of time. We were seated at a large table near the front. Our waiter was incredible. I don't know how he kept everything straight, but somehow he did. I liked how the menu included pictures. The food pictures were all so tempting. After flipping through the menu multiple times, I decided on the Fajitas Tropicales. Others in my party already ordered chips, salsa, and guacamole. The guacamole ingredients and mortar are set up at the tables in advance and covered in plastic wrap. Then if you order guacamole they prepare it at the table. I enjoyed the fajitas and took home leftovers. I only wish there was more pineapple in the dish. I thought since it would be served in half a pineapple, that the portion of pineapple removed would be included. Instead only 3 pieces of pineapple were in the dish. Make no mistake, I do really like this place. I took my Mom and some of her friends there for her 95th birthday and we had a great time. The food there is generally pretty good...prep, taste and presentation. Wait staff can be a little insincere (may be a language barrier) at times, depending on how busy they are. One important tip. Don't accept a table at or near the bar. We went back with some friends who were visiting and the service was terrible...apparently we got the bartender for a server and he completely forgot my meal (chile rellenos plate) and it wasn't very good. I should have stuck to my go to (carne asada plate), but the service was terrible. Also, when it's busy (which is most times) the ambience can be kind of noisy, but fun. read more

Visited around 6:30 on a Tuesday night. The place was packed which I took as a good sign. Our party of four was given a pager but were seated within 5 minutes in a cozy booth at the back of the bar. Husband ordered the drink special -- a cucumber jalapeño margarita. I wasn't sure how spicy it would be so ordered a guava margarita. They were huge and beautifully presented with fruits on the rim. Mine was frozen and a little on the sweet side. Husband's was delicious and not too spicy. I wish I'd ordered that one. The menu was huge but I decided on pork carnitas because I love them. Good Mexican food with a good vibe. I miss their seafood tacos from when they first opened. Those were sooooo gooood.

We had a large party for my daughter's first birthday. They accommodated us nicely on short notice. Our waiter was outstanding! He checked in us regularly and got all of the small details/requests just right. We ordered many different menu items, and everyone loved their meal. I had the seafood served in a half-pineapple. It is made on demand, with plenty of lime, cilantro, onion and jalapeño peppers to be a pleasing fresh taste accompanying chips or tacos. Their salsa is excellent, and service is usually prompt and friendly. Try their carnitas, tacos or enchiladas, they are usually excellent. The food was truly dreadful. The tacos were rather tasteless as were the enchiladas. The chile rellenos were absolutely horrific! It was hard to find the actual green chile amid the massive quantities of fried batter. After scraping off the batter my plate was completely full of this disgusting substance. The chef must have been trying to make the worst rellenos ever. And, in that, the chef succeeded! It's hard to believe that a restaurant with food of this caliber could remain open. read more

Pack em' in, get the food out, and then ignore them so they leave quickly appears to the business plan here. If you have an issue with your food/service, good luck with that.
