    Room decorated for our honeymoon

One of our favorite resorts to visit in the riviera maya area! We love the romantic feel as the resort is on the smaller side compared to some of their sister resorts but we love the intimate feel! The staff is so kind, happy to help and feels like family! Anselmo was one of my favorite waiters and each day we got him serving us at breakfast or lunch was always extra special! The spa is one of our favorites and we always enjoy the hydrotherapy. We also enjoyed our butler Carlos and our other butler Edith! They had all of our dinners and special activities scheduled and taken care of as well as daily breakfast requests. We also really enjoy the daily resort activities and staff Luana and Benjamin were so much fun and such a joy to experience each day! Typically there's more activities/events and even they bring in vendors to shop from one of the days of the week in the evening but that didn't happen this trip... Maybe because a lot of the nights it was stormy but that's no one's fault besides Mother Nature! All in all, a really great time! The tortellini at Mia Casa is one of my favorites and you can't go wrong with the sushi or orange chicken at KlayTalaay! My only complaint the whole trip was the main pool at seaside suites bartender Carlos David. For some reason he continually had an attitude. Not sure if it was at me or other guests ... or that the guests were intermingling making friends and ordering shots -- either way ... I was not impressed with pool bar boy Carlos David as he was rude multiple times on multiple occasions and even at one point asked me to stop speaking Spanish and just speak English -- which I found to be extremely rude considering everyone else on the resort was impressed with my Spanish, and complimented me many times how nice it was someone coming in and being able to speak their language so maybe Carlos David was having a bad day or two -- but that's where he should learn that we choose our job. If he's not happy serving the public, go pick up trash or work in the back somewhere where you don't have to speak to or deal with guests but that's just my advice as a girl that's waitressed 15 years myself ‍‍

Our 4th visit did not quite live up to expectations. Major seasonal seaweed issue on the beach and air conditioning was off in all restaurants. Our room was wonderful and butler assigned to us were very accommodating and helpful. Food and pools were outstanding. Entertainment was grest. We cannt say the same for concierge service; very poor as they had over a week to answer our membership question. Once concierge found that we're not buying more membership, we never heard from the woman again.

    Aaaah private beach!

We visited here a week before Christmas. Had an amazing time. We stayed in one of the 2 private homes, with its own private beach, pool, hot tub - all fenced off from the rest of the resort. The house is beautiful, with luxury sheets, towels, toiletries. Decorated beautifully. Our butlers were amazing and made sure we were doted on. Dinner in our room was incredible - and as a meat eater - it might have been the best fillet mignon I've ever eaten! The beach here is a bit tricky. Our private beach had sand, but also a ton of coral, so you couldn't walk too far into the water - you had to go to another part of the resort for a better beach experience.

Omg! Wow! What can I say about the El Dorado Seaside Suites is it was absolutely incredible. The staff were so friendly and kind, the food was amazing with more than 10 restaurants to choose from, the drinks were fantastic (make sure you try the bar in the main lobby with their special drink menu), the entertainment was top notch, the resort was stunning with tons of opportunities for amazing photos and our room was huge. This was our first vacation since COVID began and we couldn't be more pleased. The resort was immaculate and I would go back in a heartbeat.

Booked this all-inclusive resort in Cancun. The price includes transportation from and to Cancun airport. We didn't arrive until early evening and after settling down in our room, opted for a room service for dinner. The room has a jacuzzi and a king-size bed. It's spacious and the balcony has a view of the pool. The resort is huge and has several pools around the resort as well as the beachfront. There are a lot of cabanas next to the pool and beachfront as well. During noon time, the cabanas are easily accessible however it gets full during the afternoon. It's a first come first serve so I recommend getting there as early as you can. For food, the place has 10 restaurants spread around the ground. Some of the restaurants have reservations only for dinner so I suggest you book them with the personal concierge. The rest of the restaurant are buffet-style. The food is good and depending on your preference, they have Asian, Mexican or International food. The drinks are unlimited and come with the price we paid. They have a wide selection of drinks and you can order whatever you want. Make sure you have a lot of small bills as you'll be tipping the bartender or the server. If you want to burn all the calories, you can walk around the resort as it covers several miles. Just make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes on your trip. I can't recommend the best place to eat but I suggest you try all of them during your stay. If you want to book a tour, the lobby has a table for anyone who wants to explore. Whether it be the Mayan ruins, zipline, ATV ride, scuba diving, or the water cave. We ended up taking the Mayan ruins for a half-day trip. The people in this resort are very nice. They always greet you with "Hola". Our rooms are cleaned every day and give us fresh towels. If you want a relaxing day and enjoy the sun and fresh air by the beach, you have to try this place in Cancun. The all-inclusive offer takes away any extra expense on your food and drinks during your stay.

Not really to my liking at all pool swim up is only in bottom part of the main pool These suites that they called swim up is basically straight cold water and if you want drinks you have to go downstairs

My biggest takeaway to anyone that will visit this resort: BRING YOUR OWN REUSABLE CUPS. Keep reading to find out why. My husband and I spent 7 nights at El Dorado Seaside Palms celebrating our anniversary in early December. I chose the palms section because of rumors that it's the quiet side- and I had no noise issues during my stay. I booked this resort because I had stayed at another Karisma property (The Fives) and really liked it. The rooms: the rooms are old, dark, and not the cleanest. The minibar was not refilled daily so I started hiding water bottles to ensure we had enough. Spoiler, we still ran out on the last day. Food: Hit or miss, we liked Kalay Talay (specifically the short ribs), the Cullinarium, and the Gourmet Pub. Breakfast wasn't outstanding anywhere, but the lunch buffet near the beach was our go to (freshly grilled salmon) but the rest of their options were hit or miss. Beach Service: Pretty bad. Most days I got to the beach a little before 7 to snag a Bali bed and usually wasn't offered a drink (even water) until 11. If you tip consistently you'll get better service. In the early afternoon the bars run out of cups and are reused without being washed. Every day I asked for a water and got water with pulp - I'm still very grossed out that this was happening during covid. Luckily I brought reusable straws but I should have brought my own cups. Spa: simply amazing. My husband and I did the couples massage and it was great. Candlelight dinner: we opted to do this for dinner the night of our anniversary. We chose the earlier option (6pm) and loved watching the sunset. I would opt to do this again. Entertainment: I'm an early sleeper so I didn't catch anything that started past 9. My favorite was a duet of two ladies who performed on the beach. The fire show is supposed to be the best event and includes a huge buffet. Unfortunately the concierge did not tell us about this dinner event when we made dinner reservations so we weren't able to participate. When my husband and I walked up it was very crowded and we opted to skip it (Covid precaution). COVID testing: a testing service visits the resort daily. It was very easy to get tested and our results were emailed to us the same day. Timeshare Presentation: our concierge talked us into attending in return for a free candlelight dinner and a decent massage credit. If you opt to do the presentation it's in your best interest to eat on your own before attending. Eating with the salesman took up too much time out of our day. I did however enjoy getting a room tour of a beachfront room with its own infinity pool. We did not sign up for the timeshare, but if you're thinking about it I suggest doing some research online to see what members think. Overall my husband and I really enjoyed the beach at the resort. Should we return we will either splurge for a nice room or just go somewhere else.

My wife and I recently returned from our second week-long stay at El Dorado Seaside Suites. We went three years ago for our honeymoon and went back again for our third anniversary. Both visits to this resort were phenomenal. As other reviewers have said, if you are looking for great beaches, nightlife, or a younger demographic to mingle with, this may not be the resort for you. However, for those that are looking for relaxation, great food and drinks, beautiful resort grounds with lush vegetation, and excellent service, look no further! We stayed on the Infiniti side of the resort on our first visit and like others have said, the swim-up balcony pools are very neat but the water is cold due to being shaded much of the day and you likely will not find yourself spending a lot of time in it. There are several other pools though that are great and the swim-up bar service at every pool is always very good. We stayed on the Sensimar side this time and enjoyed it more than Infiniti due to the proximity to the beach. We also liked the main Sensimar pool a little better. We will definitely stay on the Sensimar side again in the future. We love the rooms and never had any issues with humidity, dampness, or insects getting in the room. The air conditioners work VERY well and the beds are very comfortable for our tastes. We had a jacuzzi tub in our room each time and love it! Our favorite "activity" at El Dorado is grabbing a bali bed and relaxing (sometimes napping) all day long. The beach butlers give amazing service and they did special towel animals and other little surprises for us when they became aware it was our anniversary. Drink service was always great at the bali beds too. We did the hydrotherapy/water journey at the spa followed by a couples massage on our first visit and I would highly recommend it if that's your thing. The mudroom and cold plunge pool were my favorite parts of our spa experience. My other favorite thing about El Dorado is how good of a job they do with groundskeeping and the jungle-like environment throughout the resort. Iguanas, tropical flowers, fountains, and nice little touches everywhere. They work very hard to keep every inch of the resort super clean and we appreciate it. Many people commented on the food saying it was not that great, but a big reason why we decided to return was because we LOVED the food. Yes, there are no doubt other resorts with finer dining options, but for the price we were very impressed. There are many options as well, so you are sure to find something you will like. We ate so many chilaquiles, grilled octopus, fresh papaya, lechon, oxtail, sushi, croquettes, cochinita pibil, al pastor tacos, and so much more. The variety is tremendous. My only complaint is the disorganized method for scheduling your return covid test. It was a hassle and seemed to be the same for several other guests. Hopefully they figure it out, or with any luck it won't even be a concern in the near future. Thank you El Dorado Suites and all of the hard working, amazing resort staff! We will be back!

I am picky or what I like to say , particular & very hard to please. This place well, it is magical. Relaxing with a side of Partying at night if that's what you like.... Just the service and food alone is 5 stars. I was worried about the beach because there weren't many photos but as you can see in my photos the beach is beautiful. There is seaweed at the beach but it is cleaned out in the morning. Rooms are cleaned daily. Everything you need is here, pool, swim up bars, cabanas , restaurants s, buffets, ice cream, dancing, fiestas! You can partake I. Whatever you like. Don't worry there is enough chairs, food, space for everyone. I wanna give a shout-out to our amazing concierge 3 friends Oscar and Carlos who made our visit special. Front desk- Evelyn, Brenda and Enrique the manager for making our stay so amazing. Let's not forget Martha & Anartos our beach friends who kept the drinks coming and reserved our beds for us. They even made my partner the cutest birthday sign. Must try the Mexican restaurants La Carrata and Culinarium. We ordered the lobster two times because I've never had better lobster. Thank you all for the best most amazing time!!!!

My annual girls trip took us to Cancun this year. The check in process made us all a bit worried. We requested rooms with 2 queen beds and upon check in we were told they only have 1 room per floor with 2 queen beds. The queen rooms were all booked and we would be put in king rooms. After a lot of back and forth they did provide rollaway beds. Once we got to our rooms and saw the beautiful rooms with direct access to the main pool/swimup bar we pretty much forgot about the room issue. I will say that the pools are pretty cold and blocked by tons of palm trees. The beachside bar-b-que restaurant is delicious and the perfect stop while at the beach. Surprisingly the room service was also great (try the crispy burrito). The Italian restaurant was our favorite, the rest of the restaurants were typical resort quality. The staff was great and I would come back!

No words.. I have no words to explain how beautiful of an experience I had here. The activities were so fun, the views were amazing, and the service was perfection. Everyone was so sweet and made the stay there so comfortable, like staying with family.. no kidding! I can't wait to come back, planning a trip as we speak!!

Booked with Expedia I had a $400.00 room credit which I checked About During check in I was told it would be deducted as I used "The services"at checkout the so called " General Manager" said That the $400.00 were not applicable towards any of the "promotional services" That included all the services we had used Romantic Dinner, Fire Dinner, and Spa massage. All that was used was $60.00 out of the $400.00 we had to Pay an additional $750.00 We also asked For a Discount since there was no information that there was construction on site the jackhammering started at 0900 every morning !!! But they did not, only offered us to move rooms And repack and unpack I don't Think so !! Managent was really Bad. We also had a " Personal Concierge " Whom we never meet we went to his office every day, he was never in , and we couldn't book our activities with other concierge it had to be him, on the last day we finally made reservations with a different concierge, it was crazy Time consuming, and took away from our vacation. The only positive was the staff Julio Our swim Up bar bartender was awesome Our Waiter of sever of a few dinners Was amazing and attentive Too. Room service food menu Never changed and wasn't the best. We once requested water and sodas refilled to our mini fridge and we never got them. We were supposed to have a nice turn over for our romantic night we never got it. It was very disappointing.

We had an amazing stay at el dorado seaside suites and palms in Rivera Maya Mexico. The staff is too notch. Everyone was so nice. They bent over back wards to make sure you enjoyed yourself. I wish the employees in the States would take lessons from these employee s. They are so grateful to have a job. The food was amazing. We will definitely return!!!!

They blocked the police I called from entering the property. There is now an open criminal case with the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor's Office -- file FGE/QR/TUL/DEL/4225/2026, assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor for Sexual Crimes, Tulum. That's an official case reference anyone can verify. Do not give this resort your money. The moment my girlfriend told me what the male spa staff member had done to her, I got her out of the spa and went straight to management. The manager's response: "I know him, he would never do that, I've known him for 3 years." I called 911 myself. Police arrived -- and hotel staff refused to let them through the gate. I spoke to officers through a fence while management told me police were "on the way." When I asked for the staff member's name and the manager's own name: "for privacy reasons we cannot tell you." I have that refusal on video. A front desk employee covered her name tag with her hand. Three men then came to our room who said yes when I asked if they were police -- then claimed to be "from the prosecutor's office" -- covering their badges and refusing to give names or ID numbers for two hours, while my girlfriend, the victim, was too frightened to leave the room. She never got to speak with the real officers, because this hotel turned them away. Imagine how you would feel, knowing the actual police couldn't help, we couldnt just leave because the hotel controlled the gate, and they had security waiting and following us as soon as we left our room. It was terrifying. We don't speak Spanish and were given no translation or victim support of any kind. Security followed us until checkout and wouldn't let our driver through the gate until our card was charged in full. We left the moment we could arrange transportation. Formal complaints are filed with the Quintana Roo prosecutor's office, Hyatt corporate and its ethics line, Mexican consumer and tourism authorities, and the Government of Canada. When it mattered most, this "5-star" resort protected their staff member and stonewalled the police.

While I really like this resort, there is definitely room for improvement, particularly working on better air conditioning for both public areas such as restaurants and most definitely inside the rooms/suites. Food was also inconsistent, not always excellent nor executed properly, and ranges from good to below average. **ROOM** -I stay at the penthouse on the top floor, which is a duplex with a king size bed and sitting area on the 1st floor and long stairs to the 2nd floor terrace with expansive ocean views, a jacuzzi and 2 loungers. - Mostly cold water showers (hardly ever gets hot), but great water pressure -A/C barely worked and leaked -- and the fan barely cooled our room. We definitely had some nights a bit too warm for comfort. **FOOD / RESTAURANTS** It was very warm inside the restaurants (no cold A/C felt, doors mostly open). May be uncomfortable to those not used to the very warm, humid summers in the Yucatan. It's actually best eating outside due to the refreshing ocean breeze. Buffet restaurant: -Incredibly refreshing, tiny gazpacho. Way creamier than the traditional cold soup. -Great fish ceviche, right amount of tangy bite, can tell chips are made/fried in-house -Nice salmon sushi, although rice slightly stickier than average. It was topped with a spicy mayo type of sauce, although way overboard with the green onion garnish (it overpowered the creamy spicy deliciousness of the sauce). Still ate it though :D ALUX (Mexican rest.) -Right next to the lobby entertainment area, which is lovely on piano man nights to have beautiful live music while having dinner -"BAO" de cochinita was disappointing - not a traditional sticky Asian bun; they use regular bread. Not as flavorful as cochinita I've had elsewhere. (quite bland). Pork was very tender & juicy though. Drinks -Mango margarita way too sweet. Try asking for it stronger/less juice (& tip). **YOGA** The 2ND BEST part! Outdooor covered palapa facing the ocean. You can hear and smell the salty ocean waves as you flow. Felt like being in a yoga retreat in a remote jungle palapa in Costa Rica. It was amazing! And they have soooo many yoga classes throughout the week -- usually 2 a day at a minimum and held nearly every day. **SPA** THE BEST part of this resort! Their SPA is absolutely gorgeous, with an indoor/outdoor mixed layout. When you go through your hydro circuit prior to treatments, you feel like you're deep in the jungle -- thousands of miles away from civilization. It is so quiet and the staff provide incredible massages and body wraps. I highly recommend you book at least one treatment during your stay! **ACTIVITIES / ENTERTAINMENT** This is a much quieter resort in comparison to other all-inclusives throughout the Riviera Maya. There aren't many activities happening throughout the day besides the yoga classes and some chill band playing live music at night by the lobby. Everything was pretty much done by 10 - 11 p.m. or so. They do not offer any shows or anything of that nature like many other hotels in the area, btw. **VERDICT** Akumal Bay is definitely only suitable for those who seek and relaxing retreat for their vacation. Moreover, I can only recommend it to those not expecting a 4-5* resort, as it is a bit rough around the edges. With some small reno work and training, I'm sure it'll be excellent again. Would I still come back as-is, though? Yes - for the right price :)

    Barceló Maya Beach

We stayed at Maya Beach Resort for 4 nights. This was our first time staying at a Barceló property…read more Although I can see where the bad reviews are coming from when I compare it with other places we have stayed in Cancún previously. The 4 stars are not for the food but rather the amount of things they have for all ages. Every night they have some kind of entertainment for kids and adults, the casino, the free water activities like kayak, snorkeling, and more. The Maya Beach room as a premium member was roomy and clean. We had an ocean view which was nice with a jacuzzi tub in the balcony. The bed was okay, the pillows were pretty flat. The pools and the kid pool area were great. We were able to go to all 3 pools for other locations. Caribe did have the best kids pool if your kid is older; we didn't go because our son is only 2. The beach area is very tropical with lots of palm trees and shade and lounge chairs that you can enjoy. All the workers were super nice and welcoming. Now the food isn't their strongest suit at this place. They had made a reservation prior to us arriving for all 4 nights, which was nice because we didn't have to deal with "sorry, we are full". We tried the Italian, Spanish, and hibachi. Italian was straight NO for us. It lacked flavors, the pasta was uncooked, and the pizza was whatever. The salad bar at Italian had everything warm, and we went at 7 p.m. Don't even get me started with their cannoli as dessert; just order ice cream. The hibachi we went to was whatever as well. I thought the fried rice and meat they cooked was salty, and you can order one item per each section (appetizer, main dish, & dessert). Spanish was not WOW but was for sure better than the other two. Salmon was cooked nicely, and my husband had lamb, and he said that was yummy. I did order lentil soup, and somehow they brought me garlic soup, which was a bowl of salt with water basically. Buffets: we did try two of their buffets - the main one by the Maya Beach reception and the bar and grill by the pool. The breakfast at the main was had good selection of everything for everyone. Of all 4 days we stayed there was one day where we felt the lunch buffet wasn't good. We mainly didn't like the bar and grill by the pool and felt that place just lacked a lot of food options. We did have free room service with our premium level however the menu items were not at all appetizing for us to order anything. You can't get food ordered by the pool like other resorts so if that's something you like this place lacks that's. The drinks were okay nothing amazing just like any other all inclusive resort. The premium lounge did have patron and some other bit known brand alcohol for self service. What i also noticed is that they didnt have a coffee shop on site anywhere to get good cup of coffee. They have automatic coffee machines that you can get your cappuccino and latte and stuff. Overall we enjoyed our stay due to the activities and things to do and the tropical ambiance of the resort.

We came to Barcelo Maya Caribe the last week of july with a large group. This was my 2nd time…read morestaying here and we were very disappointed in the drop off this time round. Lets start with the rooms. Rooms are outdated, lamps dont work, shower grout is cracking, they didn't provide hand towels for the bathroom and each time we asked they said they were out. On our third day, there was a huge water leak on the third floor that caused water damage on some of the rooms where they had to move one of our friends to a separate room. The TV channels were mainly Spanish with hardly any English options. Also they say the rooms fit 4 but if your going with older kids, you will be very crammed with hardly any space to move around. We also killed 5 large spiders during our stay as they would crawl into our luggage. Mini fridge was small and they never re-stocked our fridge with beers or water throughout the week. When we had came in 2019, they would restock us daily, including liquor. Appears as though those days are long gone. Now to the food, the buffets served cafeteria food, with breakfast probably being the best thing they served. Some of the better options such as the fried fish, was limited and you had to look for it. There were coffee machines to serve yourself and was disappointed that there wasn't a coffee shop on site. Similarly, the liquor being served was low quality and the bartenders were inconsistent in serving better liquor, which told me it all depended on their mood or if they thought you would tip them. You have to upgrade to a premium bracelet for better liquor but even then the liquor was still low quality. For the reserved dinners, we selected the mexican, Spanish, Japanese and French dinners. By far the best dinner was the Japanese teppanyaki with the Spanish and French restaurants being decent and having a good ambiance. However the mexican food was a huge disappointment. They were skimpy on the portions, the food came out cold, and the meals lacked flavor. When we asked the waiter about the cold food he told us it was because it was already past 9 pm, as if that's an excuse to serve us cold food. The waiter looked annoyed at us and we felt they were rushing us out of there. Considering this is Mexico, we would have expected a much better experience in the mexican restaurant, but it was a complete let down. The night we had french food, we sent our kids to have Italian. They were disappointed that they had ran out of appetizers and the food wasn't good. They were in and out within the hour which was shocking. Finally, the pools and the beach were decent and probably my favorite part of the property was the gym. The grounds are so vast that it never felt too crowded which was a positive. They also had different events and shows happening every night so that was also a positive. The bowling alley became an insurance policy for us on food and coffee whenever the dinner was bad so I do give a thumbs up to the bowling alley. Considering we came with a large group (18 to be exact) hoping for the experience we had the first time, this was a complete let down. We would never come back and would urge people to do their homework on what really matters to them before booking.
