Just back from a week at El Dorado Seaside Suites in Mexico We spent the week there during Día de los Muertos and it was incredible -- they really go all out with the celebration! The resort grounds are spotless, and the staff couldn't be more genuine or helpful. Now, this isn't a full-blown five-star luxury spot, so keep expectations realistic, but for the Bang for your Buck, Seaside Suites is one of the best values out there. Bali Beds: 10/10 -- free, first-come-first-serve, and perfect for a lazy beach or pool day. No need to pay extra like at some of the fancier resorts. Food: 7/10 -- not Michelin-level, but solid, and room service was always on point. Beach: 9/10 -- calm, clean, and perfect for morning walks. Pools: 7/10 -- great vibe, never overcrowded. Vibe: Totally chill -- perfect for relaxing, unplugging, and recharging. They've even added more inclusive perks now, like daily excursions to Maroma Beach and the Animal Sanctuary -- a really cool bonus that adds even more value. Yes, it's about an hour and fifteen minutes from the airport, but do a private transfer and it's no big deal. Overall: 8/10 or 4 out of 5 -- clean resort, great service, peaceful vibe, and solid value that keeps us coming back. I cannot wait to come and stay here again! The property is so secluded and so beautiful, the shuttles take you all around the property and are speedy. All of the staff are happy and incredibly helpful. The room was comfy and the AC kept the humidity under control. We had a swim up room right on the beach and wow. You just can't beat the views. The food was mediocre, and I wish there were more dining options. But overall the experience and vibe was so relaxing. WARNING! This place uses extra services to scam you. They verbally agree on prices in dollars, but on the official receipt it's in pesos (assuming you won't confirm the math which we foolishly didn't). Left with an unexpected $600 in charges - and then they force you to sign the receipt or they won't let you leave the premises. If you have to catch a flight, then it's just an absolute scam (creating urgency). They had the concierge manager come speak to us - Jonathan - and he was frankly an asshole. Ruined the whole visit. One of our favorite resorts to visit in the riviera maya area! We love the romantic feel as the resort is on the smaller side compared to some of their sister resorts but we love the intimate feel! The staff is so kind, happy to help and feels like family! Anselmo was one of my favorite waiters and each day we got him serving us at breakfast or lunch was always extra special! The spa is one of our favorites and we always enjoy the hydrotherapy. We also enjoyed our butler Carlos and our other butler Edith! They had all of our dinners and special activities scheduled and taken care of as well as daily breakfast requests. We also really enjoy the daily resort activities and staff Luana and Benjamin were so much fun and such a joy to experience each day! Typically there's more activities/events and even they bring in vendors to shop from one of the days of the week in the evening but that didn't happen this trip... Maybe because a lot of the nights it was stormy but that's no one's fault besides Mother Nature! All in all, a really great time! The tortellini at Mia Casa is one of my favorites and you can't go wrong with the sushi or orange chicken at KlayTalaay! My only complaint the whole trip was the main pool at seaside suites bartender Carlos David. For some reason he continually had an attitude. Not sure if it was at me or other guests ... or that the guests were intermingling making friends and ordering shots -- either way ... I was not impressed with pool bar boy Carlos David as he was rude multiple times on multiple occasions and even at one point asked me to stop speaking Spanish and just speak English -- which I found to be extremely rude considering everyone else on the resort was impressed with my Spanish, and complimented me many times how nice it was someone coming in and being able to speak their language so maybe Carlos David was having a bad day or two -- but that's where he should learn that we choose our job. If he's not happy serving the public, go pick up trash or work in the back somewhere where you don't have to speak to or deal with guests but that's just my advice as a girl that's waitressed 15 years myself ‍‍ read more

Our 4th visit did not quite live up to expectations. Major seasonal seaweed issue on the beach and air conditioning was off in all restaurants. Our room was wonderful and butler assigned to us were very accommodating and helpful. Food and pools were outstanding. Entertainment was grest. We cannt say the same for concierge service; very poor as they had over a week to answer our membership question​. We visited here a week before Christmas. Had an amazing time. We stayed in one of the 2 private homes, with its own private beach, pool, hot tub - all fenced off from the rest of the resort. The house is beautiful, with luxury sheets, towels, toiletries. Decorated beautifully. Our butlers were amazing and made sure we were doted on. Dinner in our room was incredible - and as a meat eater - it might have been the best fillet mignon I've ever eaten! The beach here is a bit tricky. Our private beach had sand, but also a ton of coral, so you couldn't walk too far into the water - you had to go to another part of the resort for a better beach experience. read more

Omg! Wow! What can I say about the El Dorado Seaside Suites is it was absolutely incredible. The staff were so friendly and kind, the food was amazing with more than 10 restaurants to choose from, the drinks were fantastic (make sure you try the bar in the main lobby with their special drink menu), the entertainment was top notch, the resort was stunning with tons of opportunities for amazing photos and our room was huge. Booked this all-inclusive resort in Cancun. The price includes transportation from and to Cancun airport. We didn't arrive until early evening and after settling down in our room, opted for a room service for dinner. The room has a jacuzzi and a king-size bed. It's spacious and the balcony has a view of the pool. The resort is huge and has several pools around the resort as well as the beachfront. There are a lot of cabanas next to the pool and beachfront as well. During noon time, the cabanas are easily accessible however it gets full during the afternoon. It's a first come first serve so I recommend getting there as early as you can. For food, the place has 10 restaurants spread around the ground. Some of the restaurants have reservations only for dinner so I suggest you book them with the personal concierge. The rest of the restaurant are buffet-style. The food is good and depending on your preference, they have Asian, Mexican or International food. The drinks are unlimited and come with the price we paid. They have a wide selection of drinks and you can order whatever you want. Make sure you have a lot of small bills as you'll be tipping the bartender or the server. If you want to burn all the calories, you can walk around the resort as it covers several miles. Just make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes on your trip. I can't recommend the best place to eat but I suggest you try all of them during your stay. If you want to book a tour, the lobby has a table for anyone who wants to explore. Whether it be the Mayan ruins, zipline, ATV ride, scuba diving, or the water cave. We ended up taking the Mayan ruins for a half-day trip. The people in this resort are very nice. They always greet you with "Hola". Our rooms are cleaned every day and give us fresh towels. If you want a relaxing day and enjoy the sun and fresh air by the beach, you have to try this place in Cancun. The all-inclusive offer takes away any extra expense on your food and drinks during your stay. read more

My biggest takeaway to anyone that will visit this resort: BRING YOUR OWN REUSABLE CUPS. Keep reading to find out why. My husband and I spent 7 nights at El Dorado Seaside Palms celebrating our anniversary in early December. I chose the palms section because of rumors that it's the quiet side- and I had no noise issues during my stay. I booked this resort because I had stayed at another Karisma property (The Fives) and really liked it. The rooms: the rooms are old, dark, and not the cleanest. The minibar was not refilled daily so I started hiding water bottles to ensure we had enough. Spoiler, we still ran out on the last day. Food: Hit or miss, we liked Kalay Talay (specifically the short ribs), the Cullinarium, and the Gourmet Pub. Breakfast wasn't outstanding anywhere, but the lunch buffet near the beach was our go to (freshly grilled salmon) but the rest of their options were hit or miss. Beach Service: Pretty bad. Most days I got to the beach a little before 7 to snag a Bali bed and usually wasn't offered a drink (even water) until 11. If you tip consistently you'll get better service. In the early afternoon the bars run out of cups and are reused without being washed. Every day I asked for a water and got water with pulp - I'm still very grossed out that this was happening during covid. Luckily I brought reusable straws but I should have brought my own cups. Spa: simply amazing. My husband and I did the couples massage and it was great. Candlelight dinner: we opted to do this for dinner the night of our anniversary. We chose the earlier option (6pm) and loved watching the sunset. I would opt to do this again. Entertainment: I'm an early sleeper so I didn't catch anything that started past 9. My favorite was a duet of two ladies who performed on the beach. The fire show is supposed to be the best event and includes a huge buffet. Unfortunately the concierge did not tell us about this dinner event when we made dinner reservations so we weren't able to participate. When my husband and I walked up it was very crowded and we opted to skip it (Covid precaution). COVID testing: a testing service visits the resort daily. It was very easy to get tested and our results were emailed to us the same day. Timeshare Presentation: our concierge talked us into attending in return for a free candlelight dinner and a decent massage credit. If you opt to do the presentation it's in your best interest to eat on your own before attending. Eating with the salesman took up too much time out of our day. I did however enjoy getting a room tour of a beachfront room with its own infinity pool. We did not sign up for the timeshare, but if you're thinking about it I suggest doing some research online to see what members think. Overall my husband and I really enjoyed the beach at the resort. On a positive note, the servers, bartenders, cleaners/maids, etc. were extremely friendly and hardworking. Nothing but respect and gratitude towards them during our stay. The service quality isn't the issue here and the property / scenery itself is beautiful. Outside of that, there isn't much to hype up about this place... upon arrival around 2:30 PM we were told that our "designated" concierge left for the day and to come back tomorrow. We were given zero information on where any of the amenities, activities, restaurants, etc. were located and what time they started. On our arrival day, our shower drain was clogged and flooded the bathroom when trying to get ready for dinner. Figured I'd try out the jacuzzi in the room. Dirty rustic brown water came out of it. Day 2, we met with concierge, which was basically a 30 min sales pitch to upgrade activities and try to get us to sit through a separate seminar to become a member... very similar to a timeshare pitch. They kept pushing their spa services and recommending to do their highest priced 80 minute option, which included a sauna session. We declined due to my wife being pregnant, but they persisted saying "it should be fine". Then circled back to the seminar saying if we sat through it we could get 30% off the spa session. Again, pushy and can't take a hint. The food quality is horrific and their portions are laughable. This goes for every single restaurant we tried on the property. You have to make reservations at two of the restaurants. We hoped this would change the food quality, but it's all the same stuff. Also, one day 3 of the restaurants were closed for a private party. No heads up in advance. Next, we decided to upgrade to a candlelight dinner for $200 in hopes of getting better quality food only to receive a tiny steak (filet mignon) that was cooked like a hockey puck. I couldn't have cooked one that poorly if I tried. Additionally, their app used for ordering room service, scheduling activities, etc. worked intermittently the entire time. The other option on ordering food to the room was to call... they'd answer about half of the time on that. So after the app not working and making 3-4 calls, you could finally get through to someone and get an order placed. Also, the walls in the rooms are paper thin. You can hear the neighboring rooms, people walking outside your door, and guests in the rooms above you. We were woken up multiple times throughout every night of our 5 night stay. I wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone looking for a nice vacation. There are tons of other options to choose from in the area. read more

My wife and I recently returned from our second week-long stay at El Dorado Seaside Suites. We went three years ago for our honeymoon and went back again for our third anniversary. Both visits to this resort were phenomenal. As other reviewers have said, if you are looking for great beaches, nightlife, or a younger demographic to mingle with, this may not be the resort for you. However, for those that are looking for relaxation, great food and drinks, beautiful resort grounds with lush vegetation, and excellent service, look no further! We stayed on the Infiniti side of the resort on our first visit and like others have said, the swim-up balcony pools are very neat but the water is cold due to being shaded much of the day and you likely will not find yourself spending a lot of time in it. There are several other pools though that are great and the swim-up bar service at every pool is always very good. We stayed on the Sensimar side this time and enjoyed it more than Infiniti due to the proximity to the beach. We also liked the main Sensimar pool a little better. We will definitely stay on the Sensimar side again in the future. We love the rooms and never had any issues with humidity, dampness, or insects getting in the room. The air conditioners work VERY well and the beds are very comfortable for our tastes. We had a jacuzzi tub in our room each time and love it! Our favorite "activity" at El Dorado is grabbing a bali bed and relaxing (sometimes napping) all day long. The beach butlers give amazing service and they did special towel animals and other little surprises for us when they became aware it was our anniversary. Drink service was always great at the bali beds too. We did the hydrotherapy/water journey at the spa followed by a couples massage on our first visit and I would highly recommend it if that's your thing. The mudroom and cold plunge pool were my favorite parts of our spa experience. My other favorite thing about El Dorado is how good of a job they do with groundskeeping and the jungle-like environment throughout the resort. Iguanas, tropical flowers, fountains, and nice little touches everywhere. They work very hard to keep every inch of the resort super clean and we appreciate it. Many people commented on the food saying it was not that great, but a big reason why we decided to return was because we LOVED the food. Yes, there are no doubt other resorts with finer dining options, but for the price we were very impressed. There are many options as well, so you are sure to find something you will like. We ate so many chilaquiles, grilled octopus, fresh papaya, lechon, oxtail, sushi, croquettes, cochinita pibil, al pastor tacos, and so much more. The variety is tremendous. My only complaint is the disorganized method for scheduling your return covid test. It was a hassle and seemed to be the same for several other guests. I am picky or what I like to say , particular & very hard to please. This place well, it is magical. Relaxing with a side of Partying at night if that's what you like.... Just the service and food alone is 5 stars. I was worried about the beach because there weren't many photos but as you can see in my photos the beach is beautiful. There is seaweed at the beach but it is cleaned out in the morning. Rooms are cleaned daily. Everything you need is here, pool, swim up bars, cabanas , restaurants s, buffets, ice cream, dancing, fiestas! You can partake I. Whatever you like. Don't worry there is enough chairs, food, space for everyone. I wanna give a shout-out to our amazing concierge 3 friends Oscar and Carlos who made our visit special. Front desk- Evelyn, Brenda and Enrique the manager for making our stay so amazing. Let's not forget Martha & Anartos our beach friends who kept the drinks coming and reserved our beds for us. They even made my partner the cutest birthday sign. Must try the Mexican restaurants La Carrata and Culinarium. We ordered the lobster two times because I've never had better lobster. This is a solid 3.5-star resort. We enjoyed our stay here, the staff was very polite and helpful, the weather was perfect during our stay and the food was great for the most part. Summary: it's like two resorts in one, pick your vibe - one is chill, the other one is a crazy zoo full of people. Fantastic staff. Best place for breakfast and lunch is definitely Beach BBQ. Room is fine for the money. Some rooms have swim up pools, but the water is chilly so not sure how advantageous that would be. Bars are average liquor quality, but they are not shy with the pours. Fun people watching at night and daily activities. Definitely paint your own coconut! One detraction: it's a long hike to/from the airport. The dets: - We had Lomas service set up to pick us up at the airport (included in our package), and it took quite a while to collect all of the other passengers and drop them off to their resorts prior to the arrival at El Dorado. Next time, it would be worth hiring a taxi just for our party. - The check in process was cumbersome with a line that took what seemed like forever to go through. By the time it was our turn, it was 4 pm but our room still wasn't ready, and we were starving but by then the only place was open for lunch - Arecifes. - The seaweed in the water here is a problem, just like other reviews said but the guys work on it day in, day out. And they work REALLY hard! I felt so bad for them, working in the sun while the vacationers just go about their day, hardly ever noticing and only complaining about the weed. At one point I helped one of the guys to rake the seaweed on the beach. This white, old, privileged lady walks by and says to me "I hope the pay is good". Seriously??? What a Karen! - We had both breakfast and lunch at the Beach BBQ. Everything was fresh, and the variety was great. The best part, it's right on the beach! There were other restaurant options, but we came to the beach to be on the beach. Why would anyone want to get a room service/go sit inside the restaurant is beyond me. - You have to make reservations with the personal concierge for dinner and any other extra service, such as bali beds. Not a problem at all, they were really helpful and accommodating. We got everything we asked for. For bali beds, you can't just reserve the bed by itself. It comes with champagne, and the fruit basket whatever thing which we weren't interested in. Also, they are all in the shade and I wanted the sun :) - Shout out to the concierge guys. We left a phone battery and wireless headphones on the beach chairs under the towel and by the time I remembered, the beach chairs were all cleaned up. I told the concierge the next day and they were able to retrieve both! Also, the pillows in the room weren't comfy and they gave us some memory foam ones that were amazing. We stayed in 2025 over Christmas and into 2026 New Year. The one positive here is the staff - Alejandro, the hotel manager was a shining light and always did his best. The Food at every restaurant was warm at best, cold mostly, but not as cold at the pools. Ground floor Swim up rooms gave you access to pool bars via what can only be described as a river of ice (15 degrees was the hottest they ever got). We paid £125 for the privilege of a reserved Bali Bed and wasn't even sea front and next to beds that, if you got there early enough, were free. The special events laid on (New Years eve, Mexican Night, Fire Show etc) were great but if you wanted a table to watch these, prices started at £80 each - so much for all inclusive. My wife is disabled and, whilst the hotel does not cater for disabilities, the free golf buggies were very much hit and miss - 1 night we were left outside a bar for 30 minutes waiting to be collected. We paid TUI extra to be collected at the airport, for our departure, by wheelchair only to be told at the airport that TUI do not own any wheelchairs and it is a first-come-first-served battle to have a wheelchair that you have to pay for at the Airport. My annual girls trip took us to Cancun this year. The check in process made us all a bit worried. We requested rooms with 2 queen beds and upon check in we were told they only have 1 room per floor with 2 queen beds. The queen rooms were all booked and we would be put in king rooms. After a lot of back and forth they did provide rollaway beds. Once we got to our rooms and saw the beautiful rooms with direct access to the main pool/swimup bar we pretty much forgot about the room issue. I will say that the pools are pretty cold and blocked by tons of palm trees. The beachside bar-b-que restaurant is delicious and the perfect stop while at the beach. Surprisingly the room service was also great (try the crispy burrito). The Italian restaurant was our favorite, the rest of the restaurants were typical resort quality. Booked with Expedia I had a $400.00 room credit which I checked About During check in I was told it would be deducted as I used "The services"at checkout the so called " General Manager" said That the $400.00 were not applicable towards any of the "promotional services" That included all the services we had used Romantic Dinner, Fire Dinner, and Spa massage. All that was used was $60.00 out of the $400.00 we had to Pay an additional $750.00 We also asked For a Discount since there was no information that there was construction on site the jackhammering started at 0900 every morning !!! But they did not, only offered us to move rooms And repack and unpack I don't Think so !! Managent was really Bad. We also had a " Personal Concierge " Whom we never meet we went to his office every day, he was never in , and we couldn't book our activities with other concierge it had to be him, on the last day we finally made reservations with a different concierge, it was crazy Time consuming, and took away from our vacation. Where do I even begin? I have experienced so many great things over this past week and it's going to be difficult to condense this. I'm going to try not to write a novel. Let's dive in! My husband and I had never been out of the country together so we decided to celebrate our 10 year anniversary of marriage by renewing our vows in Mexico. We used a travel agent through Funjet and decided to go to El Dorado Seaside Suites. Our reservation included our all inclusive resort stay, flight, and non-stop transportation (round trip) with Amstar. Our flight and non-stop transportation went well going to and coming from the resort. Fortunately, there were no issues so we'd feel comfortable using Funjet again. Upon arriving at the resort, we felt like we were in the jungle. The grounds are beautiful and we did see quite a bit of wildlife (small lizards, iguanas, different types of birds, crabs, a snake, etc). Our check-in and check-out process was easy. When we arrived at the resort at noon, our room was not quite ready (which we expected since check-in is at 3 PM), but we were able to head over to the Driftwood restaurant to eat lunch and relax a bit. We were able to get into our room around 2:00 PM, which was a pleasant surprise. I had requested room 7601 (building 7, top floor, corner unit) on the Infinity side and my request was honored! Our luggage was in our room waiting for us. We had a nice anniversary banner on the door, a live flower arrangement, a plate of fruit, and champagne waiting on us. The air was on 23 degrees Celsius in the dry mode. This was the perfect temperature for our room. Our room never felt damp and the floor was never slippery. The wedding coordinators (Vivian, Deyana, and Nicia) did a wonderful job of preparing us for on Vow Renewal Ceremony. They went over the details of how things would work and our ceremony went off without a hitch. I highly recommend their wedding services. Hector with Bridal Moments did a fabulous job on our pictures. After the ceremony and Candlelight Dinner on the Pier, we came back to a romantically decorated room. Rose petals led from the door to our bed and our jacuzzi tub was full of flowers and bubbles! It was perfect! I am so pleased with how everything turned out! There are so many things to do at the resort. We had originally planned on doing an excursion, but there were multiple things we wanted to do on the schedule of events for the resort so we decided to just try to experience all we could onsite. Some of the things we did onsite were painting ceramics, seeing a fire and light show, booking a Bali bed and relaxing by the ocean, dancing the night away at the bar/club on the 4th floor of the Infinity side, enjoying live music performances on the Sensimar side at the Guacamayas Bar, receiving a couple's sky massage, buying beautifully made local crafts at the Mexican Night event, and eating so much wonderful food! My husband and I did not experience any sickness or stomach problems while there, which was an added bonus. The resort literally lived up to our expectations. There were so few cons that they are not really worthy of mentioning. However, I do not want to seem biased so here we go. The hot water didn't work one time during our week-long stay, but the cool shower actually felt nice and we were able to get clean so not a big deal. Out of all the excellent waiters we had, there was only one waiter who was not very attentive to us; he seemed to cater to another table of guests. We figured he probably knew them and did not think much about it. He, however, is the only person we did not tip. His behavior was not the norm so this did not sour our experience in any way. The shuttle did not always run every 10 minutes, but walking from one place to another was really doable so again, not a real issue. I logged so many steps this week and I'm proud of myself for not gaining weight! Now, let's talk about the positives! The resort is so clean! From our room to the grounds to the public restrooms available, we always saw people cleaning and it really helped the grounds remain pristine. The food was amazing! The customer service is great! There were several times that people offered to take a picture of my husband and I instead of us trying to take a selfie. The employees were hard workers who greeted you with "Hola" anytime they saw you. There is so much to do on the resort. (Be sure to check out events on the Sensimar and Infinity side.) Bait and switch Staff is very nice and do a really good job, however, resort is mismanaged. Staff don't know what is going on. Had to ask for Water four times. Phone to concierge desk and reception never answered. Room service doesn't deliver all. The map we were given shows the one and only restaurant in our building is open for breakfast. No, it's only open for lunch. We were told to download the app for map, reservations, room service - none worked. The Mexican restaurant, which staff told us to go to, was never open. We booked two double beds got a king size, we booked Ocean view, got oceanfront with view of palm trees and had to move rooms to see the ocean. All inclusive activities such as kayaks and snorkeling gear were not here, must go to Maroma resort 45 min away. Had to schedule an activity just to go there. Best food was the pizza. The place is very clean and well maintained. The staff are great. My complaint is restaurants and bars. First night we tried to eat at the Mexican restaurant but was told they are closed for a party, we never saw a party. Second night was told it's a one and half hour wait. By far one of my favorite resort experiences ever. We coordinated a shuttle from the airport to El Dorado, and the trip took about an hour and a half to get to the resort. Check-in was quick and easy and accompanied by champagne. Our room wasn't ready yet so they took us over to one of the restaurants for lunch since we hadn't eaten and were starving. We stayed in a pool swim-up suite on the main floor on the infinity side. There is the Palms side, but the rooms there are currently closed due to covid. If/when they reopen, I would love staying over there as the beach on that side is WAY nicer, but it was quite handy to have the pool attached to our room! Even better: across from our room was the swim up bar so we could just mosy on over for a drink then go back to our room. Food and restaurants were good, though I wish there was 1-2 more options for all 3 meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Room service was a treat and very quick. Food was always hot and fresh. Drinks were good, though you have to make sure to specify your liquor otherwise they will give you well. Covid- staff are all masked and face shielded up. The resort capacity is only at about 35-40% I'd say, so you are able to social distance at restaurants and on the beach. Most guests were wearing masks while walking around but there were a lot that weren't, which kind of sucked. We wore ours at most locations except for while at the beach and in the pool! The resort is clean, up to date, and well cared for. I first came here in 1995, since then it has evolved in a positive direction year by year. I have stayed all over Mexico, both coasts. Also Jamaica, St. Lucia and Barbados . El Dorado Seaside is my most favorite, and my go to place! I don't get some of the "picky" reviews, posted by other guests. some people look for things to complain about I guess. or just can't be pleased! During our stay we experienced the following staffing issues: Upon Check in the lobby was packed with guests waiting to check in, only 2 check-in stations opened. It took us 1.5 - 2 hours from arrival to being issued the key to our room. Wait times for the shuttle (to move around the resort) supposed to be every 10 minutes were actually every 20-30 minutes During our 9 day stay housekeeping neglected to clean our room 2 different times despite us requesting service. Impossible to get Dinner Reservations 4-6 days in advance for restaurants Fire Show had no "free seating" we were stuck outside the show unless we paid $200 for VIP table Room Service was continually a 45 minutes to1 hour wait, when food did arrive it was lukewarm at best. Pool Towels were continually empty 4 days in a row Poolside Cabanas were NEVER available unless you went out at 6am and put towels on to save. Despite their being a sign stating that staff would clear off any unattended Cabanas, this NEVER happened 1 time. Despite no Cabanas available the resort has 1 "roped off" available "for rent" Upon Check out same situation as check in with guests overflowing lobby, only 2 stations opened and a 1.5 hour wait Buyer beware of Sales presentations trying to sell "memberships" we were literally held captive for 6 hours. We asked 3 different people 4 different times for nourishment (sandwich anything) all they kept offering was beer or tequila we don't drink alcohol they offer "Resort Credits" that are actually only worth a fraction of service charge. It is a beautiful Resort just severely understaffed and over booked. In addition we booked a ground floor ocean view only to be stuck in a 3 floor back corner room. The day before our departure from the neighboring Hidden Beach Resort, we took the required COVID tests & I tested positive, while my husband tested negative. I was required to quarantine for the next 5 days & was placed in an "isolation" wing here, at The Palms. I have only good things to say about my stay: the service here, the property & my room. It was large (nearly 30 feet long & so I walked 200 laps of its length everyday, plus other exercises), had a jacuzzi, king sized bed, TONS of bathroom amenities, towels, sodas & water bottles since housekeeping was not allowed to come into the room while I was quarantining there. Plenty of hot water in the large shower, a balcony that made the difference between a terrible quarantining experience & a near-perfect one, since I could hear music, people & birds from that balcony & could talk to my husband from that balcony, (he was two rooms away from me & able to come & go as he pleased.) He said the beach was great, loved the food & enjoyed the beach light show part. I sat & relaxed on the balcony, with the great views & read, ate my meals, tanned, & chatted with the folks in the next room plus had views of the long, lagoon pool, beautiful flowers & palm trees, the ocean, the agoutis & the coatis. Alejandro from Room Service was friendly, prompt, got my meal orders almost all correct, & helped make my 5 days quite comfortable & satisfying. While I would still prefer to stay at the much, much smaller HBR, I was impressed with The Palms, its Room Service staff, & the resident doctor who signed off on my ability to come out of quarantine & finally, after 5 days, fly home. read more

We came for our honeymoon and my husband chose the location. I will say I was nervous after reading the reviews but went in with an open mind. As we were there we both kept making mental notes and comparing the reviews to what was actually going on so that we could leave the most helpful review possible! Here goes. We stayed on the Seaside Suites side. Some reviews made it seem like the palms side and the seaside side were super divided but they definitely arent. Its an easy walk. The Seaside Suites side is def the party side- the pool was POPPIN even though we got a lot of rain during our stay. It was pretty loud during the afternoons and our neighbors were a bit rowdy too. Overall it didnt bother us as it doesnt go into the night but the Palms pool was definitely more of a relaxing vibe. Pro: the food is great- especially for an all inclusive. There were more restaurants than we even had time for. We used the Seaside Grill a lot because it didnt require a reservation though reservations were easily made through the concierge the morning after we got there. Definitely shouldve written them down. Do that. Pro: the spa. As I mentioned it was raining a lot while we were there so we took advantage of the spa and it was really wonderful. We got a voucher for attending the sales pitch of their membership so it was super affordable and I would definitely go back for more services if we went again. Do the hydrotherapy thing they offer before your service- its really above and beyond most spas I thought. Great steam room, cold room, plunge pools with hot, medium and cold plunges. Pro: Entertainment- I thought they did a great job with evening entertainment. They set up a market type thing in between the two sides with mariachi and lots of vendors and cool bars. They did karaoke one night. They had a wonderful vocalist one night. In the afternoons they had a team come down to the pool and play games with us. Sandy is adorable and Kristoff was a crowd favorite. They werent working with a lot and really just were so much fun. Pro: Property maintenance- people are constantly working on the property to keep it clean and perfect and are so friendly. The grounds looked really beautiful the whole time and they were working their rears off to make it look like it wasnt raining! Pro- bathrooms in the rooms. Great shower, great jacuzzi tub, double sink, door on the potty. I really liked the layout and enjoyed using the space. The bali day bed things are so comfy and so nice. Great nap. So many swim up bars!! We loved that. Hate to say con- but noticeable things- they are still enforcing masks when food is present which is fine- but its kind of silly when you can walk 2 feet over to the swing bar and not have to wear a mask. The mask they give you if you didnt bring yours is laughable too. Protocols are protocols- it annoyed my husband more than me but something to note. Needs work: App- the app is nice to have but it could really be great with a few upgrades. We couldnt get our dinner reservations to pull up on it, and at times could order room service through it. It would be cool if there was a better property map on it. Again, not really a big deal but it could be a great resource with a little more work. You could see daily activities on it which was nice. For room service on the app you cant get everything you could get if you would call. Like beer. My biggest feedback for the property would be better signage. If you dont know the resort you dont know what areas they are talking about for activities, bars, etc. Once you're there a few days you can figure it out but I felt like we missed a lot basically because we didnt know where to go. I never found the healthy bar place because I wasnt sure where beach bbq was. I never found the morning stretching either. My husbands biggest complaint was the gym- they have a great guy that overlooks the main pool but you have to have a reservation to use it. Even if there is no one really there. Once we went and they were closed for cleaning. Once we went and there were 4 people in there and I think 6 is the max because of Covid but it seemed unnecessary given the size and the cleaning. It was just kind of a pain. My experience with drinks in Mexico at all inclusives have always been that they seem watered down. Just ask for an extra shot or a floater...but yeah, that wasnt a surprise but it was the case. Seaweed was really bad. We couldnt really use the beach or get in the water at all. They were truly doing their best to clean it but there was no way. It does smell. Didnt ruin the trip or anything but if seaweed bothers you, this was intense. Probably my bad for not doing my research but I didnt realize there was going to be a stone retainer wall thing between the resort and the water for much of the property. This place does very good publicity about the resort but the service is bad. If you need help, don't even ask the people from the front desk you'll either get a rolling eyes, a wait 5 minutes, or bad manner just because you interrupt their group conversation and put them to work. Yesterday they told us that they were no restaurants open at all but they have a special dinner and i needed reservation for all the restaurants. I decided to go my own and yes they were restaurants open. So yeah pay 300 dlls a night to get the worst service. And this is the first day out of 4. Oh yeah Informed since I made the reservation that this stay was a special trip for as they even answer and we got nothing but a warm bottle of water. 1. I received very poor customer service. It all started with the fact that no one told me or showed me the hotel. I spent one day trying to figure out where and what is on the territory. But this is not a terrible thing that happened. Yesterday the water in the minibar ran out. I called room service twice, ordered water 3 times through the app, but no one brought water. Today I personally contacted the reception, and the administrator made an order right in front of me, but again no one brought me water. I called the front desk, called room service twice, but they never got me water. Today is the third day since there is no water in my room. Instead of resting, I call, go to the reception, sit in the room and wait for water to be brought. But there is no water. 2. On the first day, I went to my personal concierge. she helped me book restaurants. but I was not told anything about the bonuses that I can take advantage of. I signed up for the spa. it was a good massage. After doing this in the app, I found that I could use a coupon that covered half the cost of the massage. I turned this question to the concierge. to which the concierge told me that I should have had a massage in the first 24 hours upon check-in. Now I cannot get this discount. This is NOT an adult only resort as there are kids running around at the beach in a self dedicated area called "Family area" which is created at the courtesy of the management team whenever it fits best. Families also use the facilities, restaurants and common areas... so NOT an adult only resort. Also, the food is beyond average. It s understandable that it is not easy to cook for 1,000 people every day, but for someone who is looking for food quality, El Dorado Palms is not the place to visit. Update: We spent another 10 days at this resort for my 50th birthday. We essentially encountered the same issue with using those resort credits issued by WestJet. They "had no record" of them this time and I had to provide proof. I used $50 USD for a lovely hydrotherapy + massage on my birthday. It was still pretty pricey, but what the heck. I'm worth it! The massage was aaaamazing. Seriously. Check out the spa. We learned that they charge you extra to move to the higher floors for essentially the same room (maybe slightly bigger). Don't bother. Make sure you reserve a Bali bed for the day. These are absolutely amazing! We spend several days in a row just chilling in the big bed, enjoying amazing drink service and watching the waves roll in. And then we watched them roll away again. My BIG beef is the "the time share push" from your concierge. Seriously, they offer you some goodies, say it'll be an hour, and it ends up being 3+hours (we heard) out of your vacation and you end up irritated. Unless you really dig freebies/are bored just be firm and say no. FYI our last concierge was let go because she was pushing unauthorized timeshares for her husband. This is our first time to this property but our 5th time to Mexico. Let me start by saying that depending on the outcome of an issue we had I may revise this review accordingly. Let's get to the good stuff! Service at this resort is AMAZING. Probably the best I've ever experienced. We were pampered the moment we walked through the door, and it continued for our entire vacation. Our room was very nice but hubby sprung for a bigger suite on the top floor a few days into our trip. All the suites have a mini bar with soda, beer, water and a few bags of chips at no extra charge. The best part of being on the upper floor was we had lots of sun in the morning on our private balcony. All the rooms swim out to the pool or a (chilly) lazy river on the higher levels. The food is delicious here! The Italian restaurant was incredible, as was the Gourmet Pub. There was really nothing to complain about... The buffet was called "Food Display" and there were great choices every day. The Driftwood restaurant had great burgers and grilled items. There's also a smaller "food display" just through Driftwood. A few mornings we felt lazy and ordered room service (no extra charge either!), it was tasty and quick. On Saturday we had a blast at the Foam Party in the Seaside main pool!!! Crazy times! The alcohol was very good quality as were the fruity slushy drinks. We also played a few hilarious games of name that tune! "Hey Norma!!!" There's a Starbucks on site in the Seaside building in the gift shop area (extra charge) if you need a bigger caffeine fix. The bad... The beach area in front of Seaside is rocky with very limited sand. Not good at all. If you walk down to the Sensimar side it's much better. The resort layout is weird because between Seaside and Sensimar is an au natural resort which you need to skirt around (pun intended) to get from one resort to the other. The worst thing we experienced was that we were offered $500 US in resort credits to use any way we chose and were told by our WestJet Vacation rep we would get those from the resort concierge. Well...that didn't happen. It was $250 US and was split between wine, spa and a candlelight dinner. So here's the burn, ALL those things had pretty significant restrictions and would have required us to pay a good chunk of cash to enjoy. I was pretty annoyed. And to add insult to injury the concierge offered a bunch MORE stuff and gave us a ridiculously hard sell to attend a presentation at another El Dorado property. Totally not cool. We'll contact WestJet Vacations when we return to straighten it out. In the meantime we're tanned, happy and slightly chubbier than when we arrived. Room: The room was very spacious! We got a first floor swim out and highly recommend getting a first floor swim out because that's the only floor that has a bar connected to the pool. The lower number rooms are farther away from the noise of the main pool. We were 7109 and we could hear the music but it wasn't crazy loud! The shower was nice and they had a nice big tub that my wife loved! The mini bar was always stocked daily and had great snacks and drinks! Food: Restaurants: I ordered them in order of how much I liked them. Not saying any where bad this was just my ranking. CULINARIUM - my favorite restaurant of the trip! The appetizers were good but not the star of the show! The stone soup was as good as it has been talked up in this group but it is HUGE so I would get one for the table to share. I got the risotto and the pork belly and it was the best meal I have had in a long time. Seriously so yummy! KLAY TALAY - this was an experience and we did go 2 days because it was that good. The apps are small so get a couple. I really enjoyed the spring rolls and chicken wings. I got different entrees but the curry noodles were good and the sweet and sour chicken was the best I have ever had! The coconut crème brûlée was amazing! MIA CASA - We ate here on the first night we got there and it was very tasty! I got the lobster and asparagus soup and it was the best soup I have had in a while! Very much asparagus so if you don't like that stay away. I was very hungry so I got 3 entrees and I'm not sorry! My favorite was the steak then the risotto and lastly the chicken parm. GOURMET PUB - we ate here on the last night of our trip and it was very good. I highly recommend that you try all of the appetizers! They were honestly the best part of the meal in my opinion. I also got both soups and they were amazing! Very different from one another. The lobster one was sweet and I loved it and the onion soup was great and the puff on top was heavenly. I would say pass on dessert here because we tried them all and didn't love them. LA CARRETA - Highly recommend getting the crispy shrimp tacos! So tasty! I also got the lobster soup and that was good. I got the brisket for my main course and it was very tender. Reminded me more of pot roast than brisket but it was still good. But the highlight was the corn and cream crème brûlée! It was so weird but it was so good! Favorite dessert of the week! Seaside Market - We went here basically every morning for breakfast and it did not disappoint! The staff was amazing and the coffee was really good! I also became OBSESSED with the raspberry and cream cheese pastries. I ate at least 4 a day no joke! I miss them so much. Also the slow cooked meats that they have next to the omelet station is no joke! They are so tender and seasoned perfectly! Seems odd to have them at breakfast but that didn't stop me. TACOS - They did an outside stand on Wednesday outside seaside market with the most AMAZING tacos I have ever had! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Room Service - This was great when we did not want to leave our swim out. I would highly recommend the fried chicken burrito, tuna sandwich and the beef burger. It was all good and hot when it arrived. Drinks: Some of my favorites: Electric Lemonade, mango tango, Superman, flowerpot drink (Go to the bar in the main lobby for this one), El Dorado, Purple Rain Classics: Mudslide, Miami Vice, Chocolate espresso martini, Amaretto sour Staff: The staff was amazing and I cannot say enough about them! They work hard and we made sure to tip them well for all their hard work! Elber and Miriam on the sports and entertainment team were amazing and always came to check in and ask us the question of the day! Victor the shuttle driver was amazing and so kind. We also had amazing cleaning staff that always made sure our room was cleaned and well taken care of. The wait staff at all the restaurants were amazing and did not judge the amount of food you ordered so you can try everything because it's that good! This place was AMAZING! The food was so on point every night. The grounds were beautiful. The staff was very friendly. It was great that it was adults-only. It was a nice break away from kiddos. The pools were gorgeous. Our room had a swim up pool and pretty much every room had the same. Only downside would be that the area doesn't have beaches that you can lounge on. Karisma never fails. El Dorado Seaside is amazing. The friendly staff and personal touches really make you feel loved and welcomed. The best food for breakfast can be found at Seaside. We were typically on the beach so we found ourselves eating at the Beach BBQ for lunch daily. For dinner, American Pub is hands down the best but requires a reservation so see concierge in the morning to book. We also really enjoyed Mia Casa, the Italian Restaurant for dinner. There are numerous bars throughout the resort so a drink is always only a step away. We stayed in the infinity end in building six on the 1st floor and had a swim up room. From our room, we could swim up to a swim up bar. The room was very spacious and the bathroom as well. The shuttle runs every ten mins unless it's super late. For instance, one night we headed into the city and upon our return waited a while before the shuttle showed up. Also, when heading to the beach, if you're on the El Dorado side, you want to tell the shuttle to take you to the food beach which is a short golf cart ride to the other side of the resort where you will enjoy the ocean a lot more. The Seaside is what it is, the sea side with more rocks and not really for swimming. Sensimar is the side you want to be on for swimming. I give them 5-stars.
