Located west of US 1 off of sw 160 street, this place is located in an unassuming shopping center, hidden without much fanfare. Once inside, you're greeted by a throng of busy employees, but all happy to have you come in. The place is small, 8 tables plus a few seats next to a bar area, where coffee and toast can be easily had. Our server was pleasant and professional. The food plus its prices, are unbeatable. My cousin was visiting with her family and she loves this place. She went twice in two days and goes frequently when she's in town! We all got the bacon and eggs with Cuban toast. As a local El Dos Ruedas is one of my go-to spots. I'm there about every other week, and it never disappoints. The prices are great, especially for authentic Cuban food that actually tastes like it should. I can't stop recommending the rabo encendido (oxtail) and the huevos a la cazuela. Both are absolute standouts. Every person I've brought ends up wanting to come back, which says a lot. The only downside is the service can be a bit slow, very Caribbean style, so don't come in a rush. But honestly, the food more than makes up for it every time and the people are super nice. Hi everybody! So I decided today that I would checkout a local no nonsense lunch spot in the Pinecrest / Palmetto Bay Area that had been recommended. "El Dos Ruedas" was nearby where I was running some errands, so I decided to check them out and I am very happy that I did. As expected they were very busy but in a few minutes I was sitting down and talking to my server. Seeing as this is down home Cuban lunch spot, I opted for the Steak Sandwich, a couple of Croquetas and a cup of their soup of the day, "Ajiaco". All food items were excellent and the service was courteous and fast. Afterwards I ordered the obligatory "Cortadito" aka Cuban Macchiato and outside of being awesome it was huge! Talk about value.... The portion sizes were excellent and their prices were extremely affordable to boot. The most expensive item on the menu was a whole fried snapper for $17 which is unheard of really. Most food items range between $2 and $10 which is great. Normally you would think cheap prices mean bad food but that is not the case at all here guys. Everything is very fresh as I would expect it to be with so much traffic. The restaurant is not large but they do move tables fast from what I could see so no issues there. Additionally, they also have plenty of parking as they are located in a strip mall but it can get a little congested at lunch time. Ambiance was great as well and very welcoming but that is pretty typical for family owned Cuban restaurants. Well I certainly will be coming back whenever I can and if you want to get some great quality affordable no nonsense Cuban food, you should definitely give them a shot. A great deal for authentic cuban food in the southwest part of the miami area. A good sign - lots of guys sitting at the diner style counter and many locals coming to pick up to go orders. We were seated right away and the menu was extremely reasonable with menu items priced from $4 to just under 8 dollars. Seriously there might have been something over 8 but I dont remember seeing it. They had an extensive breakfast menu and I wish it had been that time of day cuz I do love some breakfast but since it was nighttime I went with the fried pork plate. You get to choose 3 sides with your item and they bring out baskets of buttery garlic bread. Some other items my party got were the creole shrimp, flank steak, seafood soup (a meal in itself) and the rice with squid (and accompanying ink). Everyone liked their dishes and while it looked like our food might take a long time service was pretty quick. The best local food places are in strip malls like this...I highly recommend. read more

I haven't been here in a while and my boyfriend was craving Cuban food. Since we live near by, we went for dinner. I ordered the chicken breast sandwich with a side of French fries and he ordered a shredded beef dish with rice and beans and fried plantains. The waitress was nice but barely spoke English and the ambiance was pretty good cause this place is like in a hole. Barely busy but nice and quiet. The sandwich was big but mainly more bread than chicken. Wish the chicken breast was as big as the bread. I always had a flan. It was really good and creamy. So that made up for the sandwich. My boyfriend couldn't finish his meal so he brought the leftovers home for a late night snack. I would recommend this place to anyone if they were in the area. Not bad but not wonderful. read more

My husband and I are originally from New Jersey and we moved to Miami about 8 months ago. We've been to many Cuban establishments since arriving here and we consider ourselves part Cuban now lol. We've been to El Dos Ruedas many times now and each time has been a success. It's our first choice if we're in the area. I first ordered their Masa de Cerdo (Fried Pork Chunks) and they were out of this world. They also have an appetizer of Chicharrone de Puerco (Pork Rinds) which are spectacular! I've had both of these items many places before and these are by far my favorite. They are moist, melt in your mouth and have a nice crunch to them. Other places I've had this same meal and they've been on the dryer side. I've also had their Vaca Frita (Fried Flank Steak) and wow... also my favorite of any place. Not dry at all and the flavor is wonderful! Their meals come with rice and beans and other options like yuca (the best) and salad. Their rice is spot on as well. We also very much enjoy their Colada and Café con Leche. This past visit I once again had Vaca Frita and Huevos con Bacon (Eggs with Bacon). Despite the majority of Spanish speaking employees, they always do their best to understand us and the eggs were exactly how I wanted them. I don't know Spanish at all and in the beginning it was very difficult to order however, they are patient and attentive to your needs. We appreciate them for this. My husband and I were looking for some really good Cuban food when El Dos Ruedas popped up. To be honest, I was a little skeptical when we pulled up to El Dos Ruedas since it is located in a little run down strip mall, but we gave me a shot. Yum! I'm so glad we did! Their Cuban sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. The meat was so flavorful and so moist, and the sandwich was huge! (I did get the Cuban Special because I thought the sandwich was going to be small, but I was wrong.) The second best thing was the price! We had two entrees, an app, and a beer for $20! The next time we are in Miami, we will be back! SN: My husband and I do not speak Spanish, and we didn't have a hard time. We did go around noon/1p so it wasn't super busy. This place is just ok. Came here for lunch with my daughter who was in town. The place is small and busy probably because there are not a lot of Cuban restaurants around here and they are very inexpensive. I ordered the ox tail with moros and sweet plantains. The ox tail was not hot and the sauce it was in was on the vinegary side which was a bit off putting to me. The moros were oily but ok. The highlight though were the croquetas! My daughter got an order of two and then she got two more. They actually fry them to order! They were nice and crunchy on the outside and warm hammy goodness on the inside! I'm not Cuban but living in Miami I'm definitely a conosur of Cuban food... if you're looking for a whole in the wall offering traditional good food cooked by authentic born and raised in Cuba staff, this is your place. They make all of their food in house including the Cuban Bread (which they sell the entire loaf to go of you want). Come with Patience (think Sedanos) as the place gets packed and the staff is well... friendly but doesn't stress your urgency... so come with the knowledge that you may or may not get fast service, BUT the food is good and the staff is really nice once they get to you. This place is a great local spot where you can get good Cuban food at an affordable price. Place is small but food and service are good. They have a variety of the traditional Cuban dishes and their portions are big. I like coming here on the weekends for breakfast. You can get eggs, house potatoes, bacon, ham, or sausage, tostada, and a cafe con leche all for under $5. The place gets busy in the mornings and like I said it's small, but they are pretty good at turning the tables rather quickly. I come here pretty often and have nothing negative to say. A hole-in-the-wall restaurant within a small plaza BUT when you step inside you feel transported into a small, cozy family restaurant. This place has incredible prices (it's a good deal!) and the food has never disappointed. The dishes I got came with three sides and is a good portion that's sure to fill you up. My family got Lechon Asado, Churrasco medium, Fish Steak, and Oxtail Stew. Btw, you can't go wrong with fried yuca as one of the sides. Wait time for the food is not too long and it seems like they also got new tables and chairs so it's nice if you're peculiar with cleanliness as I am when it comes to dining out. read more
