    Down town T or C .

I showed up Friday night and it was packed. The crowd was pretty loud until a big table left. I had the special, Chalupas. It was not bad. Not bat at all.

    Beef Green Enchiladas

This is my favorite place to visit when in town on business. They have the best beef green enchiladas and breakfast burrito I've had. I tell all my friends that pass through to make sure they stop by and those that do always love it. They're not spicy they just have a nice kick that enhances the flavor and the servings are big. Good chips n salsa too!

Just had a great breakfast. We stopped on our drive south on I25 in T or C. I had the machaco breakfast burritos. It was great. Shredded beef was very flavorful. My hubby had the an omelette with onions tomato and ham. It was great. And their green chili was awesome. I usually don't eat much chili but they offer mild, med, and hot. Mild green chili sauce was amazing. Thank you Brenda for your great service

    Huevos con machaca

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast and got Huevos con machaca and huevos rancheros. Both were "Christmas style" (red and green chili sauce), which made both dishes THAT much better! The beef in both was tender and flavorful! No frills, authentic, affordable, good service... what more can you ask for! We'll definitely be back if we pass through town again!

El Faro is a good sized restaurant, casual and with friendly service and decent food. Shortly after being seated, our waitress greeted us with complimentary chips and salsa. Nice! I ordered the number one combo: a taco, cheese enchilada, chile relleno, beans and rice. It was a lot of food. I asked them to prepare the crispy taco with refried beans, and it came out just the way i wanted. The green chili sauce (you can choose red or green) was pretty good, too. My dining companions enjoyed a cheese quesadilla and cheese enchilada plate, and reported the dishes were tasty.

Solid food! Chile rellenos are filled with cheese. You can select your sauce. I went Christmas. The red sauce had a ton of flavor compared to the green. You can also choose your heat level: mild, medium or hot. The rice was a flavor overload in a good way. Beans were basic. Carne asada in the soft tacos was dry. We gobbled up the chips before the meal came.

If you're looking for outdoor seating because you're traveling with a dog, don't stop here. I have…read morenever heard so many bizarre reasons as to why a dog cannot even be on the premises; first one was because of a "code," second one was because there is a bad dog next door that might hurt or kill my dog and the third one was their liability insurance. Not sure if I believed any of those reasons but I ordered food to go because of the Yelp. After looking into the New Mexico restaurant liability insurance explanation, I now know that this place just flat out doesn't like dogs anywhere. I feel like "dog friendly" should be another option on Yelp since so many people now travel with their pets. I should have left because it was very hot and windy and the owners were extremely rude but, against my husbands wishes, I ordered to go based on the food reviews and also based on nostalgia (because the location was the exact location for great Mexican food in the 1980's. Now to the food: I ordered the large combo. It was good but not the best New Mexico Mexican food. The cheese enchiladas were okay. The taco was not crispy, probably because it was squeezed into a styrofoam container, and was made with hamburger meat. I was hoping for shredded beef. Oh well. The chile relleno was good, not the best. Overall, the food was good but I've had better. The green chile sauce was better than good. I honestly think that if we had been allowed to dine outdoors on the premises, the food would have been served on a bigger plate and I would have been able to distinguish what I was eating better. Would I eat here again...that's a big fat nope. Nor would they want me to, probably. The owner(s) were rude. The food was mediocre at best. I loved raising my girls and living in T or C back in the 80's, but I will never stop there again to eat because the people at Tony's.

A chile rellano, cheese enchilada and crispy beef taco. Everything was delicious. Ordered Christmas on the side and ate both the red and green! Hubby had 3 crispy beef tacos and loved them. You also get rice, refried beans and small salad. The platters are huge. John was our waiter and he was efficient, friendly and professional. Laughed at our jokes. Haha. The only thing I would recommend is to bring a jacket or sweater if you get cold, like me, in restaurants in the summer. We will be back next time we're in T or C!

That was the first clue of how not authentic this was going to be. Perhaps the Margarita that tasted of mix only with not a drop of tequila. This I might accept even though it's a trash rip off. We ordered our food, and ate this out of hunger after an afternoon at the hot spring. What I cannot accept at no cost is what Hubby noticed the waitresses avoiding on the floor near where they turn into the kitchen. Why they didn't just kill the thing I don't know. Where there is one there is many. This...now this is disgusting. He looked closer, and drew my attention to it. There it was...a cockroach! Now we pray not to be ill from this stupid restaurant. This place needs health department inspection, or do they not do that in this State?
