He provided prompt and attentive service as well as engaging in polite conversation and addressing our questions about the TorC area and attractions. My husband and I stopped by Los Arcos for a nice intimate dinner. The restaurant is located near the highway with ample parking. There's an outdoor patio area that was not in use when we went but would have been lovely for a nice cool evening. The interior has an old school feel to it. Our waitress was friendly but wasn't the most knowledgeable and our silverware was a dirty. We were also greeted by a very charming older man who was full of life! I really wished I could rate this place higher but my steak was overcooked and bland and my husband said his was just ok. Homemade Hawaiian bread brought to table with butter. Yum and soft and fresh. We had a salad and soup (green chili chicken chowder). Sake was fresh and soup was perfect with a great balance of all the ingredients. Salmon special was what my husband had. Salmon was perfectly cooked. He had broccolini and a loaded bake potato. Excellent. My 18 oz. Prime rib was perfectly cooked with a nice seasoning. I had broccolini and sautéed mushrooms that came with the dinner. My steak had a huge portion of spinalis-perhaps the largest I've ever had at a restaurant, and I've been to Ruth's Chris and Fleming's, etc. Tender and delicious. We split the apple wonton dessert which was perfect. I'm glad my husband can help finish my order! Plentiful! Highly recommend this long-standing establishment. I stopped overnight in Truth or Consequences on my way to visit my parents south of Tucson, coming from Denver. I wanted something simple like a non-fast-food burger and fries for dinner. The very pleasant beertender at T or C Brewing suggested A & B Drive In, but it was closed at about 6:00 on Saturday evening, July 5, so I drove around looking for somewhere else to eat. I pulled in to Los Arcos and was seated promptly at a corner table. I ordered a beer, the Fried Jalapenos appetizer, and Seasoned Chicken with a baked potato from my pleasant but apparently disinterested waitress. The sliced, fried jalapeno appetizer was fine if a little overdone. My guess is they use mild rather than spicy jalapenos, as there was not much heat to them. The chicken was OK, but quite bland and surprisingly tough - broiled chicken is usually tender, this wasn't. The baked potato was a baked potato, nothing special. This place has some very high prices for what I consider OK food. I chose one of the least expensive items on the menu and it still cost me more than $60 with a tip. If I return to Truth or Consequences, I probably won't return to Los Arcos unless I can't find anything else other than fast food. read more

We were on our way north to Socorro for the night, and were getting hungry, so we stopped in T or C and were glad we did. On arrival, we found that there was a 60-minute wait for a table for two, and we were about to leave when the manager suggested we sit in the bar/patio area. He said the menu is lighter but there's immediate seating, so we gave it a try. There was plenty of substantial food on the bar menu. My partner ordered the green chile cheeseburger, a New Mexico staple, while I chose the 1/3-rack of baby back ribs. Her order of fries was large enough for both of us to share, and they were deliciously beer-battered and lightly salted for a crunchy exterior and just-tender inside. The ribs were meaty, and four of them were plenty along with the fries. The mesquite smoke gave them a Texas twang, and the orange-zested BBQ sauce was pleasantly different. The burger, though, stole the show, with a flame-grilled smoke flavor to the meat and perfectly chosen and applied layers of cheese, green chile, tomato, and toasted bun. Plenty of restaurants just slap on some chile and call it a day, but this kitchen does it right. Definitely would go back on another visit. read more

I was driving from Albuquerque to Las Cruces. It was getting dark and I would not have made dinner with my friends so I figured why not. I popped into Los Arcos in Truth or Consequences. This is an old building and the interior remains period specific and it appears to be a local favorite. I sat in the bar. The entire place reminded me of a brat pack era Vegas steakhouse. Service was good. Prices seemed high like a top notch steakhouse. I ordered the Los Arcos Chicken. A chicken breast grilled and covered with an Oscar side of sauce and crab meat. It came with a loaded baked potato, and broccoli. Now the not so great, the broccoli was way overcooked and bland. The chicken dish had good flavor, but the chicken was overcooked as well. At least I can say I have eaten in Truth or Consequences. read more

I wish I could give a 3.5. The upside here is that this is open relatively late for a small town and the steaks were good. The downside was the lack of care with wine attentiveness and the glasses were not clean enough (water marks). My filet with green chilis and mornay was good but for the price I expected more. This is the most expensive steak on the menu and from what I could tell broccolini instead of broccoli was the upgrade. The ribeye was overcooked and the excuse was "it's the end of the day." It was our first visit to Los Arcos. The parking lot was packed and now we know why. It's good! We both had steaks, and the oyster Rockefeller. Enjoyed both. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and we felt as though the steak quality and portion size were correct for the price. Beef prices are crazy high these days, so if you are going to order a steak, might as well be a good one, and this place didn't disappoint. Upon arriving we were seated in a small dark corner by the host who proceeded to mumble the specials so quiet we had to ask the server what they were again. The bread seemed to consist of hamburger buns from Walmart followed the water that tasted like it came from the nearby Lake. Upon waiting way too long for what seemed to be microwaved food it finally came and consisted of zero seasoning. It is by far the most bland food I have ever tasted. After a relaxing visit to River Bend Hot Springs, we stopped by this neat little steakhouse. From the outside--and even the dated interior--you wouldn't guess it, but it's actually a bit of an upscale spot. Think $65 for an 18oz prime rib and $45 (market price) for an 8oz lobster tail. I couldn't quite justify the lobster, so I went with the prime rib. It came with a baked potato (or rice pilaf), broccolini, and a choice of soup or salad. I chose the clam chowder. The good: the prime rib and baked potato were quite good. The broccolini was also nicely done, though the butter sauce it came with (possibly hollandaise?) had an odd taste--next time I'd ask for it on the side. A highlight was the owner, a charming older gentleman, who greeted us during the meal. His friendliness really stood out and added a personal touch. The not-so-good: the clam chowder was a miss--bland and unremarkable despite a generous portion. I'd go with the salad next time. Overall, it's a charming little spot, and a decent option if you're in Truth or Consequences and up for a splurge. That said, for the price point, I'm not sure I'd rush back. We've loved the food here, we stop by on our way to El Paso from ABQ, which is often. However last night we ordered a Cesar salad that was unacceptable, it had zero flavor. We asked our server if it was made in house and she proudly said, yes. We gave her our feedback and said she'd notify the kitchen. Never asked if we wanted something else and we didn't request it.
