Wow. Wonderful pan dulce! I need to calm down. We spotted El Fer on our way to somewhere else. The bold sign outside screamed BAKERY at us. Without a word, Mr B suddenly cranked the steering wheel into the parking lot, then came to a full stop. We already have a couple of favorite Mexican bakeries locally, but who are we to deny them an opportunity to disarm us? I am always ready to do a challenge. You never know. The pastries all "looked" the same as any other bakery. So, I only chose two. My favorites have always been one that is sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and looks like a cigar. The other looked like a bi-colored fat crescent. And then, when I got home, I did the unthinkable... I popped them in my freezer. I can warm them up some other day, I thought. So today, almost a week later, I popped the cigar into my little toaster oven for a quick warm-up. One bite and I became unhinged. I was simply amazed at how tender, fresh, and moist the insides were, with a little crunch factor on the outside. Not too sweet, with a moist center that was golden colored. And did I detect a delicate almond flavoring? Oh, I am seriously in love. I want to do this again. Mr. B had grabbed a pastry that had a creme filling. He was equally happy, saying his had a delicious, "hot" cinnamony flavor. While my other, the crescent, still anxiously awaits its debut, I have no doubt this discovery is a head above any I have raved over before. I wish I could be as enthusiastic about the tamales. We ordered two. Frankly, I thought the masa was delicious, a moist, yellow corn masa. But the pork filling was almost too spicy for my taste. I would like to taste the chicken filling before I make a final decision. Mr. B was disappointed but had a different complaint. His was nearly all masa and very little meat. My first impression had been that their pastry selections were limited as compared to other bakeries. But now, I think I might be more enthusiastic to try some of the breads that I typically avoid at the other bakeries (because they have had a tendency to be so dry). I do believe this little bakery is a great find. Maybe even better than my usual spots. I guess I just might have to return...soon...for the sake of further investigation... of course. read more

Tried the Conch sweet bread and it was HARD and not soft at all? I'll never go back for sweet bread in the near FUTURE.

If I could do a negative review I would! My mom ordered a small birthday cake and was not told about any refund/cancellation policy nor was she given any note in writing. She called to cancel today and was told the baker was already making the cake and they could no longer refund her. The cake was to be picked up until Wednesday and it's already being made today! They admitted that they box their cakes ahead of time, so beware that you will get a days-old cake when pre-ordering from this bakery. We are canceling the order because she bought a slice to try and the strawberry was sour and days old, the frosting was way too thick and the bread was dry but it was tres leches which should be moist and wet. Poorly run business with no organization and no upfront policies. read more

From the food, the careful packaging and labeling of all the toppings and sides, and the excellent customer service I received upon arrival. I saw this place on a live Tik Tok so decided to come check it out. Earlier in the day I wanted pan and didn't go buy any. I'm glad I waited because when I saw this place online I wanted to give it a try. The place is across from Starbucks in the small town center on Iowa and Blaine. They have various breads and even some hot food items. I looked at the food menu and they have breakfast burritos, tamales, tortas ect. Super friendly staff and they answered a few of my questions. I want to come back and try the breakfast burritos and tortas. Once I got home I almost took a bite out of everything and all the breads were so good. My son loved the mini cookies that were so colorful. Overall, I think I found my new panaderia to get fresh breads from in Riverside. read more

Its delicious but don't order their tamales. I asked worker if the tamales were made in house and he lied and said yes. When i opened the bag the tamales were wrapped in the same wrapping paper that those tamales from grocery stores like Northgate were wrapped in. Just be honest if they arent made in house man. We were looking for a place to buy a torta before heading to a Dodgers game and a friend recommended us to check out El Fer Bakery. It's located in a shopping plaza near Bakers and a few other local restaurants and shops. The bakery had a variety of Mexican sweet bread/pan dulce. We asked the baker if we could order any tortas. He told us that they were closed but was able to prep three for us. We ordered two of asada and one with ham. The baker was friendly and his service was great! We took the tortas to go. Our first bite was delicious. The freshly made bread with beans, cheese, tomato, onions, and salsa. If you're looking for a local bakery, I would recommend this place! read more

The man who helped me was so friendly, and to me, that goes a long way to deserve my business. I got a dozen tamales - 6 pork\6 chicken. The pork had a good flavor but could have been more moist. This place opened 4 months ago and now it's become our go-to panadería. Everything is so fresh. We tried the milanesa de res torta today and it was sooo good. They can make cakes for special occasions too. More people should definitely know about this place. read more

This is not a true bakery! I stopped by because it had good ratings. It's a Mexican bakery with only different shapes of Mexican bread and they all taste the same and stale. I did not see any fresh danish, cakes, bread or pies. Not very clean looking either. They had a few open racks and a couple glass cases.
