Okay, I finally tried Uncle Fluffy and now I understand the hype. I only got a chance to try the Original Japanese Cheesecake, but it was SO good. Super light, fluffy, and not overly sweet, which makes it dangerously easy to keep eating. Pairing it with their cold brew was honestly the move--the coffee and cheesecake together were . The location itself is pretty small, so in my opinion this is more of a grab-your-cheesecake-and-go kind of spot rather than somewhere you're going to hang out for a while. The parking lot can also get pretty busy, so just keep that in mind. Definitely coming back because now I need to try some of the other flavors. If the Original was this good, I have some research to do. read more

As for the rest of the menu-nothing really stands out. It's fine, just not memorable. The tarts especially are not worth it. $4.99 for a tiny tart that disappears in one or two bites is wild. Nothing about them justifies the price. Found out about this cheesecake shop after visiting the Bookoff in the area. No line and no wait. It's definitely different from what you expect from other cheesecakes. Western cheesecakes and the fluffy ones from Uncle Tetsu. This has a bit more of a denser cheesecake texture but has the same taste profile as a Japanese cheesecake. Not too sweet and I do really like their smaller palm size portions. You can share with another person or if some people only want a bite and not order a huge portion that has to be saved for later. Worker was helpful and answered all of my questions. Inside was very modern and clean, there's lots of seating too. I decided to stop by again real quick to check it out again. The cafe was clean, modern, and spotless. Only a couple people were inside on a Thursday at noon. There was a lady, asking questions about the cheesecakes to the cashier. Once it was my turn, I decided to get a matcha. It reminds me of a hospital. The moment you walk in you get a wiff of Fabulosa cleaner. No doubt this place is cleaner than a hospital. Service is patient. They have screen with the menu. The menu is put up twice. It makes it seem like they have a big menu. I ordered the sugar free caramel macchiato. It was decently good. I also got a mango tart and the smallest pistachio fluffy cake. My order came out in a bag. It's the smallest bag. I felt like items were mini cakes. The cake itself was fluffy but soggy at parts. I hate comparing it to Uncle Tetsu but they just don't measure up. FOOD / DRINKS The delicate, light and fluffy Japanese cheesecake just melts in your mouth and is not to be confused with the dense and heavy American cheesecakes. I tried their Original Cheese Tart and their Mango Tart and I preferred the Mango Tart. Not outstanding but not terrible either. The Original Tart had an off-putting "it's been sitting in the fridge" taste. Ugh. On a positive note, the cheesecake was good and I enjoyed it. They do have delicious-looking drinks or teas I'd like to try some time. LOCATION / PARKING Uncle Fluffy is located on Magnolia near Tyler (across from the Galleria at Tyler) in Riverside. There's limited parking, as the lot is shared by other neighboring businesses within the plaza. ATMOSPHERE The shop is decorated in almost all white from the flooring to the walls and to the table; however, the atmosphere didn't feel bright or open for me. It had a weird ambiance - almost uninviting. The lighting was a bit dim too (see photo). It's one of the things I look for so this was a minus in my book. SERVICE Being that I was the only one in the shop, I expected good service but the girl who helped me wasn't as helpful as I'd like. I asked her which items were most popular here but she didn't have any recommendations for me. BRANDING I like their signage at the front - good font choice. But the box and overall branding wasn't up to par with my personal taste in gift-giving. Not a place I'd hang out to eat Japanese cheesecake that's for sure. Uncle Fluffy is VERY busy and people ask lots of questions at the register so mentally prepare yourself for a wait. They were also out of some items like tarts. I knew what I wanted so I just ordered a couple small Japanese cheesecakes for the kiddos. At $10.99 each they are not cheap. They're personal sized lol. I should have bit the bullet and got the large (a much better deal at $24.99) but I had other stuff to do and didn't see any ready. The cheesecake itself is phenomenal. Light, FLUFFY and not too rich. I can understand the hype. Would I return to Uncle Fluffy? YES. Would I wait if there was a line out the door? NO. I think I have seen enough YouTube channels to want to see a jiggly cheesecake, and though I did not get too much jiggle from my mini cake, I did get a subtly sweet treat. It's big enough for one person to share or keep to themselves. I didn't share. The flavors come standard, such as chocolate, plain, and strawberry, but I liked my pistachio. It's a subtle flavor, but you still taste the cheese. Not too sweet at all! There is no jiggle in these tarts, just a delicate sweetness to be enjoyed by someone who does not need the sugar rush. I did get a small Uncle Fluffy cake, and that can also be shared by two. It had that special bounce, but if you put it in the fridge, it's less bouncy. This was a wonderful cake! Again, not too sweet, a lively cheesecake blend, and eats like a sponge cake but not too spongy. I would love to pick up a bigger cake for my family.
