[Atmosphere & ordering]: No outside chairs or tables, so I ended up eating tacos inside of my car. There was no waiting line at 9:15 PM on Friday. No salsa bar as they put salsa directly on tacos. [Menu]: Proteins include asada (grilled beef), cabeza (beef head), suadero (slow-cooked beef cut), al pastor (marinated pork), birria (stewed meat), pescado empanizado (breaded fish), chorizo con papas (Mexican sausage with potatoes), and tripas (beef intestines). I LOVE these tacos. When I was living in LA I would come and eat here all the time. The food is so authentic, you feel like you're in Mexico. My favorite was the Pastor tacos. They are sooo good. Love the chunks of pineapple. Their salsa is amazing. Everything is so fresh. I always order mine with extra grilled onions on the side. The service is fast and easy. They speak mostly spanish but you can order in English. No tables, you just eat your food standing at the truck or in your car. This is fine for me, its a taco truck! I have been coming here for over 11 years. It has never failed me it is my go-to. I get the fish tacos which are always great really fresh crispy I love their grilled onions and their cabbage salad. The agua frescas are always fresh, the salsa is always good. I get the muletas, carne asada friends get the sesos, tripas.. This is a great hole in the wall. I am a huge taco person and have tried different places all over LA but most of the places I go to don't come close to the flavorful meats at tacos flacos. I don't have a favorite choice of meat because they're all bomb but I would highly recommend their fish tacos just because it is rare to find amazing fish tacos at a regular taco stand so try them out for a unique experience. This truck is pretty good. What I like is that when you order your tacos, they also give grilled onions on the side. Mmm. The tacos here are $1 each. I got the Al Pastor and the Birria. The birria taco was not that good. I guess I was expecting the same type of birria you get when you eat at Birria Jalisco in Boyle Heights. Being that I frequent this place so often and it is my favorite taco in East LA i guess it is time for me to give my opinion on bent tortillas. Let's start with aesthetics. When it comes to taco trucks this one is less then flashy. It's not even a truck; it's a trailer.parked outside this smog shop right off the freeway. When you think of smog and freeway you think dirty. With that said I feel very confident eating here because I feel these guys know how to keep it clean. So with the negative out of the way these are really good people at this truck. Friendly, quick and clean I prefer to eat here as often as I can. My daughter loves them and agua de piña which I agree is really good and fresh. La salsa is very good. Not so hot that you can't taste the food which is always a mistake these taco people make. Grilled onions always free and on the side. Good huraches and quesadillas. My favorite are the burritos because you get a great tasting and size for the under 5 bucks. I think it's 4 but not sure. Was actually on our way to get King Taco up the street when the uber driver said I know a better spot. This place is really good. The best part honestly is the overall freshness of EVERYTHING (meat, sauce, tortilla) and the cherry on top are the low prices! I live in the valley and i WILL drive 20-30 min to eat here. I have only tried carne asada tacos (see picture) and they give you sautéed onions as well, i will be back to try more and update this review! FYI. The area might seem kind of sketchy, I wouldn't pull up in short skirts, shiny necklaces, etc. You catch my drift? Tips: Tacos I've tried: carne asada, al pastor, birria, tripas, and chorizo con papas -I recommend them all except the chorizo con papas (it was mush, I like it chunkier) - If you love onions like I do, ask for some grilled onions on the side for no extra charge. -I recommend the agua de pina. It's refreshing! Although it's not very consistent, some days it's sweeter than others. Finally, I only wish they had salsa verde or that their salsa roja was spicier and a bit more flavorful. So we visit family often in cali , and I make it my business to hunt down yummy authentic taco stands ! And what a gem is el flaco tacos! We attended the nba all star game and it was our last night in town and I found this gem on instagram. We couldn't wait to try it! It was only a 10 min ride from the game so even better! I had the papas and chorizo omg soooo good, the Birria, leguna, my husband had the asada, listen the meat was so tender so juicy and flavorful , the salsa amazing just the perfect amount of heat and those sauté grilled onions to dieeeee for! Deep in the heart of east LA but right off the freeway, this perfect easy to miss example of what the ultimate street taco should be. The pastor is a revelation and the asada is a religious experience. Make sure u get everything on it because the sauce is the piece de' resistance. The horchata is sublime. I am surprised this truck has not been discovered by LA Weekly or Michelin. Very humble and simple stand but miraculous. Here again. I can't believe how good these tacos are. Definitely my favorite taco spot at the moment. Each taco is $1.25 but jam packed with meat. Their asada is one of the best and their chorizo con papa are my favorite chorizo tacos I've tried in East la! Horchata isn't all that but their agua de pina is! They definitely have the yummy grilled onions but no grilled jalapeno :( Their mulitas are amazing!! Nice and crispy around the edges bc of the cheese..I want one right now lol Beware it can get super crowded depending what time you go. I don't eat at taco trucks but this is a Trailer same concept but at least you can see your food being cooked by the large window...so that's a plus. I only tried this place because my girlfriend had mentioned she knew of this place where the Mulitas were delicious and I figured I would try it. Well I'm hooked now lol.... The carne Asada Mulitas are very tasty with that red sauce and they have. Just yummy!! Move over carne asada tacos these are simply much tastier.. Tip: Go on a weekend late at night the cook knows how to cook them just right. First the tortilla then extra cheese then the meat with another tortilla on top then flip it over and as it cooks on the flat grill the cheese spills out just a bit where it slightly burns the cheese for that extra flavor...simple right? Well I've been there on a week day earlier like at 6 and they aren't the same. The cook for some reason pre cooks the tortillas that he puts in top of the Mulitas. Ok he places the first tortilla and uses less cheese then less meat on top then while the cheese melts he places the already hardened top tortilla to finish it. And well you don't get that lil crispy cheese on the sides and when you hold it it falls apart cuz the top tortilla wasn't bonded by the extra cheese... that alone changes the whole flavor and experience.
