The service is fast and efficient and the ambiance is a casual, grab and go experience. A steady flow of customers coming in and out all morning, loading up fresh bolillo and concha breads for the day. The Cafe de Olla is not a good or authentic as other places in the area, but still a good value at around $3. Will be back during lunch hours to try some of their chicken options. read more

Came here on a Saturday around 1pm. Small aprking lot two bathrooms. Inside the had to order and in the back a dessert station. Ordered the chicken plate it was a good amount of food. The caffe de olla was bomb. The concha was warm and good. The only thing the station with the side ingredients couldve been restocked and more clean. All in all, good place to eat. read more

The place was clean and the young lady who helped me was friendly. She was attentive when I asked for the Torta Cubana. Then for a couple of more dollars, you could make it a combo, which I did. The chips are about the size of a regular size hand and the salsa is self serve with a couple of different choices. As for the Torta Cubana, its definitely more expensive now (like everything else is), but it's also definitely a whole lot smaller. It also came with a 20 oz soda bottle. Total price with taxes $18.53. I was picking up my order when I looked over and noticed a fly on the cutting board. The young lady that was preparing the food, just waved her hand. Didn't clean it or anything. I guess I was just lucky that the fly wasn't on there when my food was being prepared. They have several tables inside, all clean. Overall, it was ok. read more

What the hell......I just had the best concha I've ever had in my life. Oh my gosh. What. I grew up in east side san Jose and pan dulce was a huge part of my identity. Love the service here ! Store is very clean! And the pan always smells so good! I had the Asada torta it was delicious! I will say the rice pint is a bit high but when I'm in the mood it's worth it! My wife wanted to stop by here after picking me up from the Honda dealership nearby to get her tamales. We came in the morning so there was parking in the small plaza this place is in. When we walked inside, I went to look at their bakery items. It was my first time in e El Gallo Giro store. They had some nice selections of bread. My wife was in line so I joined her afterwards. She got her tamales and a agua frescas drink as well. The person taking her order didn't remember their menu so my wife told her where it was on the menu. It didn't take long for her tamales to be ready, once she paid her tamales was ready for pickup. She told me that she enjoyed her tamales and they have a salsa station where you can get your sauces. read more

Service was fantastically awesome! I called Friday around 5:10pm to order 60 conchas for my dads viewing, because someone did not bring enough. I spoke to Yanci who took my order, we also ordered a torta cubana. We ate the torta and with her manager backing her up we had our conchas fresh baked, hot from the oven and in my truck by 5:50pm. I always go or order Uber Ears from the Panorama City location. I was unaware that Uber Ears was delivering from this location. Definitely was not happy with the food quantity, quality or even the preparation of the food. 1st they never put my ordered bolio breads 2nd they filled the containers for rice/beans only about 3/4 full-I've never had that problem...it's always filled to the top 3rd the carnitas were cold and tasted bland. The Tortas are the most classic eats in LA. Javier provided not just excellent customer service, but I saw him in the back during the lunch rush running the expo on the line. That's a great sign for leadership at any restaurant, let alone the OG Gallo Giro. This place is the best because of the range it has. You can quite literally have breakfast/brunch/lunch/dinner/dessert. Their concha's are like art, but best of all melt in your mouth soft. Lastly, I'm super impressed by the creativity! They got so many flavors like Agua de Limón con Chía Seeds, Conchas de Coco, and a Cuaresma favorite, torta de Chile Relleno. This isn't your grand parents' Gallo Giro, this is an elevated experience your mouth/eyes/ears and heart will not regret. read more

Ooh, I feel like I found a gem. First off, I'm Japanese so forgive me for any errors with names of foods or dietary customs, and if I should've known about this for a while. I didn't. It's new to me so here I am. I work near here and visited YEARS ago when it looked a whole lot more like a hole-in-the-wall. I don't remember much about it then, but it was decent; nothing to really make an impact on me. They have since remodeled and look much nicer on the exterior. I checked them out on Yelp and saw they had a Carnitas package meal. I've been craving carnitas recently so I went in and got it. YUM! This hit the spot, and for a respectable price. If I'm craving carnitas, I'll hit this place up. I just went back because I saw they had a Torta Box. I didn't get the BOX because I'm trying not to be my piggy-self. I just got a single carne asada torta for myself, a buche burrito for my wife (she's Peruvian), some more carnitas (this was my piggy-self being greedy; I got a pound of it), and two champurrados. Everything was very good. I must say that when I went inside, there were about a dozen people just standing around, some with an aluminum tray in hand. It took me a while to figure out if they weren't waiting in line to order; they were waiting for the baked goods to come out! The bolillos were rolled out and everyone swarmed! They were polite but still "pushy" to get what they wanted. I'm not sure if the baked goods come out fresh at a certain time and that's how people know to be there, or they just wait until they come out? I wanted to try but I didn't have the patience to stand in line again. I'll have to come back to try their bolillos! It's safe to say that I like it here and will be returning frequently on my way home from work. read more
