side of grilled jalapeño

We came on a VERY busy Saturday night (competition at local venue, I think) but the opened a table for us, took our orders and got us our food really quickly. Our server, Rosie, was engaging, informative, and friendly, never made us feel rushed or hurried and my order was not usual (can't do cilantro). The food was wonderful and spot-on! My BF asked for grilled jalapeños and they brought like 4 all charred and sliced - perfect. We will be back again and again.

Nothing fancy. Just a home made Mexican food place. Just like mom's . Love it . Best selection of tequilas around.

Would be great if staff spoke English so when ordering they got the correct items. Vs charging you for something not ordered.

We were meeting a friend and they had gotten a table for us before we arrived, but it wasn't busy and there were plenty of tables available. We're glad we had a chance to try Cantina Pedregal before it changes into Nixtaco- although now having been to both you're going to have delicious food either way. The restaurant is beautiful and whoever did the interior design was so thoughtful with the furniture, colors and ambiance. It's very warm, welcoming and calming inside. A great date spot or place for a meeting. The lunch menu has a good variety of options, and is broken down into smaller bites/appetizers, salads, main plates, and then sides. It's a nice spot to share dishes so you can try more items and share the sides. We ended up getting the chips and salsa ($7) with an extra salsa ($4), Grilled Black Half Chicken ($23), and Fideo Seco ($14). Our friend got the Carne Asada Tacos ($24), Refried Beans ($12), and Red Rice ($10). The sides were shareable and needed, since the entrees came on their own. Our friend added some of the beans, rice and Fideo Seco on their tacos and our chicken did come with some tortillas to make our own tacos or eat on it's own. Everything was high quality and flavorful. The Fideo Seco was surprisingly my favorite item. It is vermicelli pasta with sofrito, chorizo and egg yolk and was very tasty. The chicken was good, but hard to eat without using your hands to get all the meat off the bones- the messy hands didn't seem to fit with the restaurant vibe but we loved the flavor and how tender the chicken was. The salsa was good and the chips were fresh, but it seemed like a lot to charge $4 for the ramekins of salsas. I would pass on chips and salsa next time. Overall it was a great vibe, high quality food and good service. Definitely more of a treat meal or great spot to impress a date or business client. For a regular chill meal it felt a bit expensive, but I think they're going for more upscale.

You walk in and the doors close individually but u do share the space and area to wash your hands with anyone that walks in . Not bad never really seen this before . Our waiter was amazing his name was Doug he explained the menu to us . It could be a lot but he helped us . Doug was very helpful and attentive. We ordered drinks my favorite one was called Sol Dorado . I wish they had more Gin drinks I had the only Gin drink called Brissa Del Mar but ,I was not a fan . For food we ordered the Caesar salad , sweet potato which was amazing. For our main dish we ordered the cazuela (Asado De Puerco ) which is pork stew it came with handmade corn tortillas . We made some delicious tacos out of it . I had to get dessert they all sounded so good! We got the Smoked Pumpkin Tres Leches delicious. Overall, it was a different experience the food is a bit different and I'm Mexican BTW but it's from a part in Mexico called Monterey every part in Mexico has their own way of cooking . The menu its self is different you order to share . It's a little on the pricier side but the portions were a good size for sharing . I feel like for the main entree there is not that many options on there wish to see more . Overall we had a great time . Great food and ambiance.

This spot caught our eye so we decided to give it a try without checking reviews first. Walking in I wasn't sure what to expect. The front dining area was empty, and the staff were all gathered. It was early on a Monday, so I figured maybe it gets busier later... We were seated in another dining room, which actually had a few other diners. We ordered chicken enchiladas, mine were the verdes (Swiss-style) and my husband got the red sauce version. We also added a side of guacamole. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to our hopes. The guacamole was missing something, maybe lime, cilantro, or seasoning, it just tasted flat. My enchiladas had a strong, almost sour aftertaste from the green sauce. The rice was overly seasoned, and the beans were just okay. The red enchiladas didn't stand out either. It all felt like it was quickly thrown together, hoping the cheese and sauce would do the heavy lifting. For the price we expected much better quality. It was overpriced for what felt like cafeteria style food. That said, the host and waitress were friendly, attentive, and welcoming. So while the service was great, the food just didn't do it for us.

Complimentary corn tortilla chips, salsa, and refried bean dip with cheese. I loved the REFRIED BEAN DIP! I ordered the Steak a la Chicana. I didn't read or listen carefully enough that the skirt steak with sauteed onions and bell peppers are covered in Spanish sauce. The sauce is actually quite tasty with a little kick. I used it and the salsa to flavor the black beans. However, I really just wanted grilled steak. I should have ordered steak fajitas, a grilled steak burrito or quesadilla, or a carne asada plate. The Steak a la Chicana was a generous portion, which is definitely 2 meals for me. Cilantro rice wasn't anything special. The SWEET CORN TAMALITO is yummy comfort. Choice of beans: refried beans, black beans, or pinto beans. I suspect refried beans is the tastiest option. El Tapatio would be a great gathering place for friends and family. It's located on Sunrise Blvd in Citrus Heights near See's Candies and other restaurants.

You're greeted with a fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and an energy that makes you excited to be there. Since the restaurant was especially busy, we chose to sit at the bar. There was no wait, and the high-top seating was surprisingly comfortable. Our server was welcoming and attentive, and the service was fast from start to finish. Between the great music and lively atmosphere, you can't help but want to dance while you eat! I ordered one of my favorites--the chicken sope. It was perfectly crispy on the outside while still soft and fluffy on the inside. The chicken was packed with flavor, and the rice and beans were just as delicious. The salsa that came with it was the perfect finishing touch, adding just the right amount of spice and an extra kick of flavor. My hubby ordered one of the carne asada dishes (so sorry, I forgot the name!). He said it was one of the best cuts of meat he's had at a Mexican restaurant in a long time--super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We had such a fun night! I definitely recommend Rosa Madera--10/10 for a date night, girls' night, or any excuse to enjoy great food and an even better atmosphere.

I found Rosa Madera when searching for "queso" in Yelp...(I really was wanting some queso)…read more Anyways, funnily enough, I read through the menu when I got here and ended up getting nachos in place of the queso...that's fine though, it gave me an excuse to come back another day. It's a nice looking place inside, especially considering its general location. They were busy even at an off hour mid-week, but I can see why because the food is great and so is the atmosphere. My first visit, I tried the following: Enchilada Verde (Lunch Menu), Mini Birria Tacos (Lunch Menu), and Nachos de la Casa (with asada). They also brought out complimentary chicharrones de harina, which was especially nice because I was super hungry! My second visit I had the following: Queso Con Rajás Dip, Los Favoritos, and the Burrito de Carnitas (Lunch Menu). I ended up liking the nachos way more than the queso. I wasn't expecting the queso to just be the consistency of slightly melted cheese. I also wish they were a bit more generous with the chips since I ran out of chips way sooner than the dips. No complaints on my main dish portions though! Really loved most things I've tried. The presentation of my dishes I've ordered here, the Enchilada Verde and the Burrito de Carnitas, was great too. The chicken was just slightly too dry for the Enchilada, but the flavor made up for it. Only complaint is while the service was nice, it was SO slow both times I've been here. It took forever to get the check and when they did bring out the card reader you can't see the receipt, only a total. Then their lowest automatic tipping button is set at over 22% (with two higher percent options), which is honestly crazy to me since most places start at around 18%. I way overtipped on accident the first time I came. I think it's highly likely they get overtipped for this reason, which is nice for them but kind of not fair to the customer. I'll continue to return!
