Lo mejor!!! I cannot wait to come back everytime I'm in the area. The best Mexican spot in the Bay Area hands down. The flavors are so unique and so rich I love every bite. The salsa verde alone is so different than any other place I've been to. Not to mention the people that work there are phenomenal. The restaurant has plenty of space to enjoy a spot to eat. Love coming here and look forward to my next time.

Came here for breakfast a while ago & wanted to give this place a shot for lunch. When they brought us our tacos to our table -- our food was COLD! I ordered the shrimp tacos & it comes with sour cream. The girl at the register said the sour cream made the tortilla turn cold that's why it's like that. But my partner ordered tacos with no sour cream and his asada tacos were just as cold. When we asked to have it warmed up the girl gave me an attitude. They literally just threw the whole taco back on the grill with all the lettuce and sour cream on there. If you're a food handler-- YOU DO NOT WARM UP LETTUCE because it can cause contamination and salmonella. I spoke Spanish too, so she couldn't talk crap about me to her coworker lol. My bf ordered 3 asada tacos & they put hardly any meat on a big tortilla. (As pictured!) Won't be back again! This place got 3 stars for a reason.... There's other better taco spots around town. $50 down the trash.... Didn't even eat my shrimp tacos because I was scared I was going to get sick from reheated lettuce and shrimp. HELL NO! I hope this review is helpful.

These tacos made me so happy! I placed a phone order and it was ready when arrived. Their horchata was also really good!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, especially having moved out of San Francisco a while back, I miss the Mission and their burritos. I was hoping this place might do, since it's lts nearby and is often busy with locals. I decided on the shrimp burrito, because that's what I most wanted, even though I figured the Carnitas would probably be superior. The shrimp were tiny, although the overall burrito, was pretty tasty, although it was too small though for a super burrito. The staff was polite, and the food, which I had to go , was served quickly. The spicy red sauce, which I had on the side, was authentic and yummy. Next time I would have the green sauce on the side as well, because even though they had said, the green sauce was in the burrito itself, I didn't see or taste any.

The zucchini was cooked perfectly and not overcooked or soggy at all, which made the whole burrito taste fresh and flavorful. We also got the appetizer with the chips, zucchini, arugula, and cheese and that ended up being one of my favorite dishes. Everything paired together really well and had a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy. I also tried the mango margarita with tajín on the rim and really liked it because it wasn't overly sweet. Super refreshing and balanced. The Dude ordered the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and really enjoyed those as well. Customer service was also really good. They checked on us periodically throughout the meal and everyone was friendly and attentive without hovering. Overall the restaurant felt clean, relaxed, and comfortable. Definitely a spot we would come back to again. Especially a lot of vegetarian options ! Vegetarian approved!!!

There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.

Take out, but the online order didn't go through so we called and place the order via phone and provided payment info then as well. Service was really quick and the food was ready within the 10-15 mins estimated time. The place is right by one of our fave local Japanese spots and boba spots, so more opportunity to frequent El Tapatio! I also tried their grilled chicken burrito. A bit more expensive than the fajitas lunch special, but was good. It needed salsa though as some parts were a bit dry, but that's cause it tasted healthier than other chicken burritos I've had. My son tried the carnitas tacos and he liked them! We weren't sure if he would, but it had the meat, lettuce, cheese, all of which he happily eats. They also give a choice of soft or hard tacos. Neat!! The in laws got lunch specials- Chile relleno and shrimp taco ones. They each comes with rice and beans. My daughter got chicken tenders and quesadillas - 2 kids meals with fries. No complaints there.

I pointed out to he waiter that he had a crumb on his chin and he wiped and chuckled like a nice champ. The music is pleasant but a bit louder than needed so I brought out the earplugs. The entire indoor setup is nice. Our food is arriving after what seems like a long wait meaning either the food is being served fresh, hot and tasty, or we are in for a mediocre experience. Our two plates arrived. Chilli relleno and Grilled chicken enchilada. I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the smallish squair white plates. Reminds me of trying to look upscale. We own plates like these and that didn't work. Wife's enchilada plate was covered with three hot and very tasty chicken filled food bombs plus sides. The chili plate looked a little weak (too much plate showing) but that was the tastiest chilli relleno ever in 40 years of me enjoying these. Served hot with cheese filled up to the ying yang, an extra spiciness I have never had before that I loved and me wishing I had a spoon to scrape up the end of the sauce. Unfortunately the smallish rice and bean servings on both plates were luke warm and tasted so so. . I had similar hotter to those with tv dinners back in the day. The two plates and a coke at $43 has me scratching my chin on whether we will make that drive again. That is unless it is Sunday. Then possibly. .

After giving it some thought, I decided to return and explore what it was about Isla that everyone raved over. This time around, I ordered the fish tacos, and I was hooked! Isla's fish tacos are phenomenal--easily the best in the area and a must-have every single time. I usually go for the tilapia, though I've sampled the red snapper as well. They come out super crispy on the outside yet remain incredibly moist inside, with the salsa and toppings melding together perfectly. I also visited their new location today and was pleasantly surprised by the ample parking and comfortable seating. The space is beautiful, making it even more enjoyable to stop by for those irresistible fish tacos. Here's a quick rundown of my ratings: Fish (all varieties): 8.7/10 Birria: 7/10 (good, but not their standout item) Carne Asada Super Burrito: 5.8/10 When it comes to satisfying my fish taco cravings, Isla remains the only choice.
