Service is spectacular! We were immediately greeted and asked to sit at a table of our choice. There's plenty of tables seating parties of four. The servings are huge! So be ready to have a very full belly. We ordered the Camarones chismosos (Shrimp) its médium heat and bursting with flavor! Also ordered a carnitas super quesadilla. [in-person takeout order during covid] 3.5 stars for food, but marked down because they allowed a patron without a mask to walk back and forth and go up to the counters! Among my group of 3, we ordered 9 tacos. This was actually our 2nd food stop of the night (taco trail adventures, am i right?), so sadly I only had it in me for one taco. $2/taco or $2.50 for handmade tortillas. Onions (raw and grilled) and cilantro are available upon request. They pack a lot of onions so beware if you need adjustments. I ordered al pastor (they were out of asada at 7:30pm!) and while the filling was plentiful, unfortunately, it was dry. I'm glad I only got one taco. They included two different salsas with my order which helped a bit with the dryness (the orange one was tangy and a little too tart for my taste, but really liked the verde. it packed a slight punch and was cilantro-forward). My group got the goat, pork, and chicken tacos. They noted the chicken was a little dry. Staff was diligent at wearing masks and there's a plastic cover in front of the cash register. $10 minimum for credit cards. The woman taking our order was mindful not to touch customers when returning change. Yelpers I disagree with the average rating of this place!! Upon deeper review you'll find most of the negative reviews are for things other than the food. That makes sense and I'll explain further below. First of all, if you're here you need to know you're in little Mexico. This area is like the Mission of SF. Tons of Mexican restaurants and a tight knit Latino community in this area. If you're a Mexican restaurant and you aren't good, you won't last year longer than a year in this part of town. I work close by and was told by a coworker who lives in the area that this restaurant got its start as a family business selling tacos from their home. They then expanded to a taco truck and finally into the restaurant store front here. They have a local following and are truly authentic. When you enter, there's old school Mexican love songs playing in the background, paper printed photos of dishes and a menu hand written on the side of the cash register. If you come by around 5PM you see all the locals coming by after work and you know you're in the right place. They know what's up. The cashier asked for my order in Spanish (even though I'm obviously Asian) and I pulled out my high school Espanol. She didn't once try and speak English to me even though it wasn't my native tongue. I found it funny but hey, just go with it. You wanted authentic right? No, they won't pick up your phone call. There's no online ordering. You come in, old school style to order. It is by no means fancy or with current times, but who cares? You come here for the FOOD. I ordered chicken and steak tacos and they blew my mind. Flavorful, delicious, perfection in every bite. I've eaten Mexican food everywhere, Los Angeles, the mission, and of course Mexico. I know good food and guys, this is it. If you're the type to complain that they didn't allow you to order over the phone, the ambiance wasn't to your liking or their hours weren't updated on their Yelp page.. then this place isn't for you. Been here twice now and all I can say is that their shrimp tacos are so friggin' addicting! I had read another review attesting to their delicious shrimp tacos, and they were totally right. Shrimp tacos are on point! This little taqueria is tucked away in the Foodmaxx shopping center on the Meadow Lane side. I first noticed them when I tried the laundromat next door a while back but didn't try them until recently. It's your typical Concord style taqueria. Nothing fancy but it's clean inside and there's actually quite a few places to sit. The first time that I came here, I ordered a carnitas and steak taco along with the shrimp. Both were good but neither one could compare to the shrimp ones. I've never really been one to order shrimp street tacos. I usually stick to steak, fish, or carnitas (chicken if they're crispy). But this place has totally changed the game for me. The shrimps are plump and well marinated, and they really pack them with a lot of meat here. I made the mistake of ordering 4 because I thought 3 wouldn't be enough. I was wrong. The second time around, I ordered three shrimp tacos and I left full and satisfied. I think the shrimp tacos will run you about $2.50 each. They give you complimentary chips and you can load up on their yummy salsas at the salsa bar. I usually go for the really spicy salsa here, but I realized that I couldn't handle it. That sh*t is HAWT! So hot that it made my bum hole burn in the toilet afterward! Bahahaha! I know, I know... TMI but don't say I didn't warn you. I guess I should also mention that I was eating those hot grilled peppers from the salsa bar with the salsa. I guess I was pretty much asking for it... Anyways, all of the salsas are lit! So much flavor and they have both good mild and hot options. The chips were good but a little on the salty side. Their horchata is homemade and also really tasty. I've walked out of there with a filling dinner that has costed me around $10!!! It's truly a steal. The cashiers are always really sweet. The only bad thing that has happened was when they charged my card an additional $25. I thought that maybe they accidentally charged another order to my card. When I went back and showed one of the cashiers the mysterious charge, she said that the other cashier accidentally placed an authorization hold on my card. Maybe she was pushing too many buttons and accidentally pressed the wrong one, but I thought it was kind of weird. They ended up fixing everything in the end, but make sure to get a receipt and double check your accounts of you're paying with your card. Other than that, this place is really tasty. I can't comment on anything else other than their tacos, but once I get over this shrimp taco addiction, I plan on trying some different items from their menu. read more

Absolutely disgusted with this place. My spouse went to get me tacos and they way overcharged him. He's so nice, he didn't have the heart to say anything. When I called back and tried to order the same thing, I got a different price - then I asked show much per taco and she changed the price to a higher one. I am curious what the actual menu prices are and will change my review based on that. But, if I can recall correctly, it's only $2 per taco. I don't care how much a business may or may not be struggling. Stealing from your patrons is NEVER the answer. read more

I had a regular asada burrito which was just ok. It had asada, rice, beans, a bit of sour cream and cheese. The asada itself was aright nothing sprctacular but the bit of sour cream that they added made the burrito not as dry as other taquerias. But at 7.99, I was expecting more meat and it's pricier than other places. Also, tried the carnitas tacos which were just ok too. The corn tortillas were a little crispier than I had wished. Felt like I was eating a crispy taco at times instead of a soft taco but the price is good at 1.50 each. I didn't see any paper menus or take out menus but instead they have some specialty items with pictures and prices along with fajitas, tortas, tacos, etc. 3.5 stars for now until next time. read more

Right off the bat the Carne Asada burrito was perfect. I ordered no beans and no rice. It just hit the spot! Additionally, we ordered a super chicken burrito with everything. Very fresh and tasty. The food is mildly seasoned so if you like spicy you can compensate with the fresh salsa selections. Also, try the birria tacos. We tried these as well. Beef was delicious, fresh, tasty and seasoned well. Birria sauce adds a nice touch. Free tortilla chips are included with purchase. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I was very excited to try this place based off of reviews & the many people I see eating here when passing by so I had my boyfriend meet me here for lunch. The chicken enchiladas looked & were very good UNTIL I found a hair inside my enchilada chicken. They did refund my meal but I will not be eating here again simply because I no longer can comfortably enjoy my meal. My boyfriend said the steak was ok. And to Kayla V who I got The compliment from saying "so What there's hair in my Food, they working hard for their Money & why get the refund If I'm not Gonna eat it?" I didn't eat the food so yes I asked for a refund, I work hard for money as well to be giving it away, & so what that there's other peoples hair in my food huh? I don't know what their personal hygiene may be. You are welcome to eat random people's hair if that's what you are into, but ima pass & let others know MY experience. A place patronized by many locals and I found the place to be family operated. It is quite spacious and many customers had ordered a globlet margarita which I wanted to try. I ordered 3 tacos : lengua, shrimp and goat. $2. to $3. each. My favorite was the goat. I definitely would come back for tacos. The lady taking my order was very nice and patient when deciding as they offered many choices of toppings. Also, ordered the pork carnitas plate which came with rice, beans lettuce, sour cream and guacamole $10. All was tasty, but I found the pork a bit dry. They offer an extensive salsa bar with about 10 choices of salsa to marinated onions/carrots, etc. It took about 10-15 minutes as they has a stream of people coming in to order. Just meh. Two burritos that weren't that big were $20. The wait was long and they were disorganized. They gave us the wrong order at first but hey, they were packed and just opened. The staff was nice and friendly. If the burrito was good I would have come again. The burrito was smaller an more expensive than the four other places at this intersection. The worst part was the carne asada. It was all gristle, we were spitting out inedible bits every bite. The rice made up most of the burrito and it was meh. When I eat at a Taqueria, the salsa and chips matter just as much as the main entrees. The chips had some tortillas that weren't fried all the way so they had an "almost crunchy but chewy" consistency. the salsa was horrible. i'd never tasted salsa executed sooo poorly before. it wasn't fresh and had like a brick of salt and was lacking zest and acidity. the tacos i ordered were decent. i like my street tacos with my tortillas not being drenched in oil. the tortilla, like the chips, had a consistency in between crispy and chewy and they were oily as heck. the flavor of the meats were good though. lastly, the ambiance was not great for me. they had the radio blaring, i mean BLARING music. you had patrons there nearly screaming along to the lyrics, but it was like a zoo with the loudness. i wanted a quick bite to eat before heading to costco and man did that cost me, both my appetite and wallet. 4 tacos and an horchata had me at $14. never again. read more

This small taqueria sits in the Four Corners shopping plaza at the Monument and Oak Grove Rd. intersection. I think I saw sangria in their soda fridge, but I don't recall seeing any Coronas. My husband and I came in for dinner tonight and I ordered 3 tacos ($1.50 each): pollo (chicken), carne asada (beef), and adobada (seasoned pork). They didn't have a fish option or a veggie option (perhaps they will add to their menu as they grow). I also didn't see guacamole on the menu (side note: today is National Guacamole Day!) but you won't need guacamole with your chips if you like spicy salsa. Free chips are served to guests dining in the restaurant in a basket with a large bowl of a red salsa that was more like a hot sauce. It was a really liquid consistency, but maybe that's to protect the consumer - this stuff is spicy!! They also have two bowls of salsa on the counter (the type that they make the salsa in by smashing all the ingredients on the rough walls of the bowl). When they bring out your food they include two more hot sauce bottles (both a red and a green), plus they have a variety of premium hot sauce bottles on each table. It's a family owned restaurant and so other menu items may appear and the salsas may change based on ingredients/tastes; and so far, so, so good! Our tacos quickly came out with steaming grilled onions on top. Each taco is served on two small, fresh, corn tortillas, and they pile on the meat and fresh onion/cilantro topping in large mounds on the warm shells. Really great value and the food was delicious. Honestly, I was so in love with the salsas and hot sauces they could have served me anything and I would have been drooling, but the tacos were indeed very tasty. My husband finished both of our glass-bottled Coca Colas and I'm not sure that did a lot to help put out the fire in his mouth. And for me, the heat level was PERFECT (which means it is definitely spicy!!) - so I'll be back here again very soon! read more

Based on recommendations from other Yelpers we thought we would give Las Chismosas Taqueria a try. Sunday at 1:05 PM and the place is packed (good sign). We order to go and the man taking our order is very friendly and helpful. Price for 2 super burritos and 2 street tacos is nearly $23. This is on the high side of Taquerias. We have high hopes and therefore pay and prepare ourselves for a long wait. The very friendly gentleman brings out our order, includes chips and salsa and gives explanation of what is what. At home we open the foil wrapped burritos and find we are penalized for not including rice and beans. The 8.95 super burrito is now an expensive rolled taco. More tortilla than meat. This is where they drop 2 stars. Furthermore my Carne Asada burrito is very greasy and the steak is grisly in texture. The street tacos are worthy of praise. Good meat to corn tortilla ratio and they burst with flavor. The street tacos are a bargain at 1.50 each. Salsas are good and run on the hotter side. We were hoping for another go to place for Mexican food but Las Chismosas Taqueria fell short and nowhere as good as Taqueria Carnitas Tijuana or Tortilleria El Molino in our opinion. read more

Definitely the best tacos in Concord! The staff is super friendly and the restaurant itself is very clean. I went in last night with a few people and we were craving tacos of course, so they advised we come here to get our taco fix. We were starving so basically we ordered about 40 tacos total and a few micheladas. I had the Buche, great flavor and had s wonder char on it from the flat top grill. Everyone else either got the adobada or the carnitas, this place really "hooks" it up when it comes to preparing your tacos. The Salsa bar is complementary and they also have chips upon request. Our micheladas had a touch of Clamato in it and they were served with some super fresh Camarones which were a great addition to the already amazing beverage. My nickname for this place is "Hot Taco!" Why? Because the tacos are always served fresh-off-the-grill so the temperature is hot! On top of that, they taste great and come with grilled onions on the side, which is a nice touch :) This is definitely one of my favorite taco spots in the bay. Give it a try!
