I ordered a grilled Chicken super burrito and it was big with a lot of flavor. Reminded me of home cooked food. The chips were my favorite type, thin and crispy. The salsa bar was awesome. A lot of Taquerias closed their salsa bar during Covid and never reopened so I'm very grateful for any Taqueria with a salsa bar. I really enjoyed the red watery salsa. The place was clean. I used to go here all the time when i first moved to Martinez until a new lady started working at the front counter and was always snarky with me for some reason + something was usually missing from my order which i never realized til i got home. This last time I ordered 2 tacos and after 30 minutes, the pager still hadn't gone off. I asked about the tacos and they forgot or misplaced my order but offered to make it. It was getting late so I let them keep the money and left. It kind of felt like it was on purpose, so I won't be back unless the cashier changes. The tacos are really good, though, not going to lie. Food and service has really declined. The last 2 times we ordered to go food, items were missing, the portions were super small and the beans/rice were way too salty. When I called about the missing items they weren't very nice about it. From now on I'll make the drive to El Tapatio in Pleasant Hill. Best enchiladas sauce ever and the best crispy chicken tacos. Nice area to sit outside they could use a couple fans for the flys . But all in all it was a great experience people are friendly and the food is great just like before . You won't find a better enchilada around the sauce is top of the line good I dip in everything . I forgot how much food you get on their combo plates so I ordered a side taco boy I didn't need that the two enchiladas and rice a beans was plenty. The lady at the front desk with the big fake lips and eyelashes has gotten worse and worse over the years. She adds to the price of your order without asking by adding a full size chips and salsa to every order. She also will charge you top dollar for sour cream and guacamole on a taco unless you know she does this and tell her not to. I have gotten upset with her several times as well as seeing other customers get upset too. I've been a loyal customer of Cinco De Mayo for as long as they've been around but she is killing their business. I don't know why the owners let her get away with what she gets away with. Nothing great about it, this place is good when you are really hungry and have no other option Taquitos were over cooked so the meat was extremely dry. Very dissapointed with my recent visit to this place. I ordered a Fiesta or super burrito with al pastor...but I decided I wanted to mix asada in as well...$4.50 up charge. I went ahead with it...I started to eat my burrito, not once did I taste meat, all rice beans cheese lettuce sour cream..etc. For having been charged that much for an extra meat there should have been plenty of meat in the damn burrito. Did not like the food last time at all, this place seems like a restaurant out of Gordon Ramsey's kitchen nightmares, the food tasted old and gross and you can watch them "make" your food there and they just pile everything into a box and throw it in the microwave to "cook" absolutely disgusting. One of my employees promoted to another unit so we had a good bye lunch for her today and we decided on Mexican. Cinco De Mayo is close to my job and seemed reasonably priced so we decided to give it a try. I ordered one dozen chicken tacos, one dozen chicken enchiladas, one dozen pork tamales, two containers of refried beans, two containers of rice, one container of salsa and a half tray of chips. Cinco has consistantly good food. At my house when I have a group of hungry teenagers or even just mine and don't want to cook we get tacos by the dozen. Done! Everyone is happy. I have also had the shrimp burrito, it was large and very generous with the shrimp. Chili Relleno is on point too. The taco salad was just okay, but I am usually disappointed with taco salas from everywhere else too. The salsas are terrific. The location on Pacheco has mild, verde (green), and super hot. Oddly enough the store up on Pine skipped the verde all together which is a bummer because it is my husbands favorite. This past June they catered my sons graduation party. They were easy to deal with throughout ordering, then changing my order and in the end had it right and on time. The dining room isn't fancy, but we prefer to-go anyways. read more
