I went on a Saturday night at about 8:45. There was a brief wait since I had a large group but the line moved pretty fast. The food was good! Nothing that I tried was bad. It was interesting that all of the burger toppings are brought to you separate from the burger so you can add whatever you want. It was also interesting that the patty came in the form of a meat ball instead of a flat patty. The service was a bit slow but they were busy. I got seated at about 9:05, was provided the menu at 9:15, placed my order at 9:25, and all of the food came at 10. Memorial Day or 4th of July picnic vibes. Service was fast, there is always somone working the grill and food is ready to go. Food is as you'd expect at a picnic at someone's house you'd never been. Came here by default when a spot we wanted to check out looked too iffy and didn't have an item we came there for. My sister suggested this classic spot, it's been around for decades and still has that old school aesthetic. You can really tell why it's lasted so many years. The place where I am staying recommended I check this restaurant out. You can tell it's a staple and has a lot of history. Very much a local scene. The burgers are thick and round, almost like a golf ball, juicy, good char grill, thick slice of melted cheese. I ordered my burger with bacon. Was in town for the day while on a cruise and we had walked for miles. Looking for a place to sit down for lunch, we came by here and saw how busy it was and also how many reviews it had. It seemed like a local place with a few tourists. They let us in the front and directed us to sit at a table in the back. It took some time for the waitress to come but once she did things moved more quickly. Fries came out first and then the burgers. All told, two burgers, fries and two beers with a tip was about $26. We had dinner here the night before a cruise. It's a local place, not a touristy place. 90% of the patrons were Puerto Rican locals & maybe 10% were tourists. Our first waitress did not speak English. But she quickly got us a waitress who did. The burgers and fries are very good--better than typical US fast food. We loved coming here! Our Uber driver recommended it as the oldest burger joint on the island, so we had to try! It's nothing fancy but it serves up some delicious foods! Food is not the best. Service is bad. Especially the guy who works on the parking. He's very disrespectful and threats customers bad. It's even agresive. My wife has knee surgery, we went through the drive in and it said it was closed for the day. I parked at an available spot that wasn't safe. When a parking spot came available I started parking my car and the parking employee came to tell me that I couldn't parked there, and if I didn't know how to read. I told him my wife is purchasing to go and he told me to park on the wall or on the parking lot, when he new it was full with cars even till the street waiting. My wife has a knee surgery, she went in to order the to go until I could park to help her but I couldn't and Noone offered her a seat, they left her standing outside. Worst service ever. Last time I was in San Juan I drove past this place and made it my goal to come back my next visit. I am so glad I decided to try it, some of the best burgers I have had in a very interesting style somewhat similar to that of the steamed cheeseburgers you would find in Connecticut. The two burgers I got were cooked well, done well, and well... amazing. I wish I had room to try more. The onion rings were top tier as well. Service was accommodating and very quick once inside despite a wait to get in. Ambiance left nothing to be desired, just a classic burger joint. Walking around Old San Juan, my boys and I saw a massive waiting line to get into this place, so I looked it up on Yelp. It got pretty good reviews, so I asked my impatient teenage boys to give it a shot and wait in line with me. The ambiance seemed like something out of 1950s diner, but dirtier. We must have waited in line for thirty minutes before getting seated. We then waited another 15 minutes before a waitress came up to us and asked, "What do you want?" We then explained that we needed menus and the noticeably-perturbed waitress angrily pointed at the napkin container with a QR code on the side and walked off. NO JOKE. "Uhhh, ok...so sorry we didn't see that before." We ordered drinks and burgers, thinking this place was gonna live up to it's "60-year tradition" for being a San Juan staple. It didn't live up to our expectations. The "hamburger" was a ball of cooked hamburger slapped between two buns. Absolutely nothing special about this place. So I tried this burger joint based on social media videos. I came in with an open mind and hoping a good experience. A couple of notes, everything is sold separate, no combos. First thing that came out was a paper platter with the veggies for your burger, the paper plate got soggy and started to tear. Second the fries came out and had no flavor whatsoever and lastly came out the circle burger in a bun that was already falling apart. The meat had no flavor and I mean NO flavor. I can honestly say what a dissapointment this was. I would highly not recommend it to anyone that is visiting, it's not what the "influencers" claim. I have passed this establishment a bunch of times and finally decided to give this place a try. Essentially this place is a burger joint. If you want a good burger and fries or onion rings then this is your place. If your expectation is to have a gourmet burger then you may be disappointed. Best Burger near the prettiest beach (Playa Escambrón!!!) near Old San Juan, Puerta de Tierra, Caribe Hilton area! The beef burgers are well-known but the VEGGIE BURGER (if ordered very well done) is PHENOMENAL, it tastes exactly like meat!!! I think it's an "Impossible Burger"...just add mustard and ketchup on each side of the burger, ask for a side of salad (it's given in a paper container- just enough to garnish your burger - I usually ask for raw onions & pickles ONLY.) Be sure to order their onion rings and/or shoestring fries and a cold drink. Dress casually and because it's hot near the grill area, wearing short-sleeved clothing is best. They offer free parking and attendents are nice guys. Come here I have to go to Playa m Escambrón (the nearby beach with parking in front, a surfer hotspot!)
