Hello the first burrito I got from here I loved it was great and a hot sauce the hot hot one that they have is delicious and tonight it was still delicious but the burritos inconsistent I don't know if it's cuz I got there a little bit late before closing hours but every single bite had grizzle in it it was a little bit cold and they didn't put love into making sure it was delicious and good for me to be honest with you I was looking forward to eating it and now I don't know if I'll ever go back again. The hot sauce is that good though lol but these places are hit or miss It's just if they want to do good consistently and get better reviews it has to be consistently good. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. This is my favorite place ever and I drive over 30 mins just for the tacos. Yeah it's in kinda in a sketchy area, but that's how you know it's gonna be some good Mexican food. This place has the best red salsa in town! I just wish this restaurant would be in a better location. There's bums everywhere and tons of flies all over the restaurant. I've been wanting to try this place for years. I finally did on Christmas Eve, and it was awesome they were even open! I got 4 chicken tacos with NO SALSA, I am allergic to tomatoes, I asked twice while ordering (no salsa) and once after I paid I also confirmed and asked again "please no salsa on the chicken tacos" while the gal was preparing food. I had to wait inside for my husband to come back from getting my son Jack In The Box across the street (bad area of town to wait out front), I guess it's partially my fault for not checking for the forth time while I waited but there was salsa on my tacos. After I took a bite I realized it was on there, I spit it out and didn't actually swallow any of the seeds, however the inside of my mouth is very irritated and sore now. It was a pretty simple request. Because they close in 6 mins and they are not answering the business line I will be having PB&J for Christmas Eve dinner. I do want to thank them for being open tonight, my husband and son are really enjoying their food and I will be back to give them another try. El Jalisciense Restaurant - Chicken tacos with the salsa I asked several times not to put on (because of a food allergy) - Mexican Near Me - Woodland, California

I am not a native of Woodland so this weekends drive through trip pleasantly surprised as we headed home to Sac after a trip here to pick up some CL spoils of the day and were ready to put down some serious food. Located in a super small shopping complex on the corners of East Main Street and East Street & nestled in between a 7-11 with a redbox n Launderland laundromat this lil hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant delivered on flavor, freshness, price and shere volume of food. Plus they are open late! However if you let its outward as well as inside appearance disenchant you'll never experience it. Oh! That reminds me, their bathroom was clean and fresh for an older older building as I used it to wash my hands multiple times prior to departing to rid myself of the habanero chile oils and guts of my burrito as I lost control of it and it fell apart yet at no fault of the cook who wrapped it. I'm a heat seeker. And usually have to beg for jalapeños on my outings however today as my husband picked up our piping hot food from the counter he asked them for some chiles for me telling them I loved fiery hot food and then the unthinkable happened: The dude behind the counter offered up some fresh habanero chiles. Oh hell yah!!! This has never in all my years eating out happened and I loved it and the chiles as they were huge, fresh, unbelievably yet beautifully flaming hot and I gobbled them down. I will pay for this on their exit trip. I also noted as we inhaled our two Carne Asada Super Burritos sans the rice while browsing the list of pictures for this joint in Yelps mobile app that a snapshot of their current menu prices was in order. My husband the better picture taker of the set uploaded a current pic to the listing however what caught my eye is that in the 2 years since the last menu & its pricing was posted that El Jalisciense has on average only raised their prices a whopping .10 in two years. Even McDonalds raises theirs substantially more and over less of a time frame. The seasoning and flavor of their Asada was amazing as was their freshly cooked whole beans that filled our monstrous Super Burritos. It comes with a ton of meat, beans, rice, lettuce, salsa and sour cream and sells for under $6. Again we held the rice . It had more meat in it than anything else and I loved this. Did I mention its huge? It is. Sodas are sold by the can or by the old-school glass bottle bringing a sense of nostalgia into the experience. Customer service was pleasant & helpful an we just beat the rush as the place filled up within 15 minutes of our arrival yet the line moved quickly. The last time I had a Carne Asada Super Burrito this satisfying was when we lived in Los Banos, CA and got that fix at Cotija the best Mexican Food shack for miles around. Don't know when we'll be back or through Woodland but we will be back at Jalisciense the next time we come through. read more

I was a Yelp user when I first visited El JollyScience. Yes, you should also start calling it this. But I didn't get to review this place until I left as a student. This place is amazing. Let's start with pure value. Everything is cheap. You will eat like a king for under $10. If you're small you could probably eat like a king for $5. But beyond value is the amazing food. I know it's next to a 7-11, and it always looks empty, and it has a truck that may or may not be better, and yeah it looks a little dirty, but god DAMN this is good Mexican food. I have never taken someone who didn't think this place was great. The tacos are ~$1.25 and for that price you should try to have 5. And get all the different meats. The order of awesomeness... Tripas (chewy and delicious, don't get it if you're put off by tripe), Cabeza (cheek meat is always damn good), Lengua (steamed tongue, don't get it if you hate food), Al Pastor (spicy pork), Carne Asada (beef), and the rest. I always get these. The burritos are also on point and ~$5. I've also had the plates, which are good, but I like tacos better. I frequent this spot when I'm in woodland. I've always like their tacos and burrito. They have simple but good ingredients. Their carnitas and polo have always been on point. I like their jalapeño that they give out as well, mixed with their salsa, it makes for a flavorful meal. Nothing beats this place on a long day, come in order my burrito and Coke, so delicious. I ordered the burrito de carne asada con todo(today I ordered it with cream inside also)...and it is everything I would expect from a burrito(I'm from L.A..so I'm used to SoCal mexican food). Very well cooked carne..salsa roja is spicy but not overwhelming like at other taco spots..and the rice and beans aren't under or over cooked(just perfect) ;] I got mine with lemon and jalapeños on the side...so my meal was utterly perfect. My friend orders the sopes and tacos(when we've gone together)...and also highly recommends them. Horchata and Jamaica are a really tasty addition to any dish here. Without a local Woodlander at your side, you probably wouldn't think twice about trying this taqueria over any other in Woodland. As fate would have it, I did have a local on hand and he brought me here. Any place that has jamaica (hibiscus flower) juice is already a place that I am a fan of. Jalisciense also did a great job with the cream of the crop meats that I so truly enjoy. Yes, I am talking about lengua, cabeza and tripas! The sopes de lengua, which I've never had before, was pretty flavorful and unique from what I'm used to. The winner at this joint would definitely have to be the taco de cabeza. The meat was SUPER tender and full of meaty, chili packed goodness! I loved it and I wished I ordered three more (seeing as how they only cost me $1.60!). This place makes great burritos and tacos. The pollo and asada are grilled nicely and the salsa they have is good. The red one is a bit spicy, but still has good flavor. Their rice/arroz is tasty too. I love that I can exclude onions from my items too because I'm not a fan of onions and my wife is allergic to them. This restaurant is way over priced, for almost $13 a super burrito, there was no sour cream in mine. My mother's didn't have hot sauce, for $13 a super burrito there should have been at least a little. There was no napkins in my to-go order. The first time I tried this place, I was dissapointed, so I gave it a second chance and again it was dissapointing. I can keep going and going on what was wrong with my order.... My boyfriend and I were driving back to Oregon from a friend's wedding, and we decided we needed good tacos before getting back. This place seemed to be rated pretty high in a place we'd be passing anyway, so it was the obvious choice, and boy, were we in luck! We tried the lengua, al pastor, and cabeza tacos. He adored the lengua and I was over the moon about the cabeza. The red salsa was a little too spicy for me, but -- you know -- no regrets. The tacos were well filled, cheap, and delicious. To top off the awesome factor, the bathrooms were clean. We'll definitely stop by next time we drive down, or heck, if we're in California at all. Two thumbs way, way up! read more

First time here, I usually visit the taco truck by True Value and it doesn't disappoint. Was disappointed with this place though. Hardly any salsa on my tacos and tortas. The meat was way overcooked , like it had been sitting for hours on the flat top. Only one little lime wedge for my 4 tacos and torta was just absurd. This restaurant is dirty and there is homeless outside the parking lot screaming. I thought I would give it a chance. They have the worst chicken burritos I ever had. The tacos here are Delicious and my go to spot at work for a quick,cheap,great lunch not the fanciest of locals but it's a taqueria not for a first date but once your in love if she's a taco fan she gladly go on a Saturday night! The salsas are not made for gringos so if you don't like spice better get the salsa verde (green) these are real Mexican tacos so if your looking for jimboys type or crunchy this ain't for you I highly recommend this place if you like traditional tacos! read more

Great spot for tacos and burritos. The quesadillas are very good too. The horchata is made on site, and is very good as well; not too sweet, plenty of cinnamon. The fillings are all uniquely seasoned, and are all delicious. It's tough to go wrong with the pastor or asada. The family that runs the place is friendly and helpful. read more
